I can’t say enough good things about Dr. Emma and her amazing team! From the moment you walk in, you feel welcomed and cared for. Dr. Emma is not only highly skilled and professional, but also incredibly kind and gentle. She truly takes her time and makes sure you feel comfortable and confident about your treatment. The hygienists are wonderful — patient, thorough, and very caring. The front desk staff is always friendly, helpful, and organized. This office makes going to the dentist a positive experience. I’m so grateful to have found such a fantastic dental team!☺️
To say I was shocked would be an understatement. I came in for a follow-up because my teeth were hurting even more after the first visit. While seated in the chair, I saw rusty dental drill bits lying on the table. At first I didn’t believe it, but it was clearly rust. When I pointed this out, the response was simply: “We’ll change them and bring new ones.” The fact that rusty instruments were even present in a dental office is terrifying and completely unsafe. This is a serious health hazard. I will never return.
I really wanted to like this office, but unfortunately my experience has been frustrating. I decided to try them after seeing that they partnered with my endodontist, whom I trust. That endodontist completed X-rays and a root canal during my pregnancy without requiring OB clearance forms or delaying necessary imaging, so I felt comfortable seeking care. I scheduled a new patient visit for $125 since I had already maxed out my dental benefits for the year. The appointment was supposed to include X-rays, but once I arrived, the dentist said they weren’t comfortable taking them because I’m pregnant. This wasn’t something I declined, it was the doctor’s choice. I came in for a specific tooth concern, and it was ultimately just “watched.” I was advised to come back in four months to see if anything improved. However, that same tooth started bothering me again just a few weeks later. For context, during a prior pregnancy I had both fillings and dental X-rays done because my dentist at the time felt it was important to maintain healthy teeth during pregnancy and avoid potential complications from untreated issues like infections. When I called back, I was told I would need to pay $99 for another exam and a tooth X-ray. I asked whether the X-rays that were originally included (but not performed) could be honored at this visit. I was told no, that those would only be honored after I deliver my baby “free of charge,” which is an odd way to describe something I had already paid for. I was then asked to provide a medical clearance form before any X-rays could be taken. However, when I spoke with Rebecca, she explained that even with medical clearance, the doctor would still prefer to wait until after my pregnancy to complete the full set of X-rays. I would still need to pay the $99 now and obtain medical clearance even for a single tooth X-ray. I completely understand providers being cautious during pregnancy, but the policies felt inconsistent and more transactional than relationship-focused. The office has a strong social media presence and seems geared toward a younger crowd, which initially appealed to me, but the overall experience wasn’t worth the headache. At the end of the day, dentists are businesses too, and that message was very clear. I hope this feedback helps improve clarity around policies for future patients. ———— Edit for response to owner: My main frustration is that I originally came in for a specific tooth concern, as stated in my original post. When that same tooth continued bothering me, it wasn’t a new issue, it was the same unresolved concern. The only booking option available online was an emergency visit, so that is what I selected. Now I’m being asked to pay an additional fee, presented as discounted and accessible care. Your office was aware of my pregnancy from my new patient forms. If X-rays would not be completed due to provider preference, that should be clearly communicated to pregnant patients ahead of time. It would have saved me time and money and allowed me to seek care with a provider comfortable treating pregnant patients with appropriate imaging. I appreciate the well wishes, the phone call from the owner, and the response here.
