About Silvana Cumani DMD & Associates PC
Silvana Cumani, DMD & Associates PC provides general dental care to patients in the Graduate Hospital, Newbold, and surrounding South Philadelphia communities from the practice at 2200 Montrose St, Philadelphia, PA 19146. Montrose Street in the 19146 zip code is a residential corridor in the Graduate Hospital and Newbold neighborhoods of South Philadelphia, close to the South Street commercial district and the broader community of South-Central Philadelphia.
Dr. Cumani's practice delivers personalized general dental care with a focus on patient comfort and thorough clinical assessment. Comprehensive oral examinations evaluate tooth structure, gum tissue health, bite alignment, and the condition of any existing restorations, providing a complete clinical picture that forms the basis for each patient's ongoing dental care plan. Radiographic imaging supports early detection of developing conditions at the earliest treatable stage.
Professional cleanings remove the calculus and plaque deposits that accumulate on tooth surfaces and below the gumline between visits, reducing the bacterial environment associated with gum disease and tooth decay. For patients who develop cavities, Dr. Cumani provides composite resin fillings that restore tooth integrity while maintaining a natural tooth-colored appearance. Dental crowns are available for more significantly damaged teeth, and extractions are performed when tooth preservation is not feasible.
Montrose Street in the Graduate Hospital area is accessible from South Street and the surrounding South Philadelphia residential grid, with SEPTA bus access on South Street and Washington Avenue. The dentist office was very clean. Everybody was polite, and the staff was very welcoming.
I rarely leave negative reviews, but I feel it is important to share my experience. I was a patient of Dr. Silvana Cumani and visited the practice on multiple occasions, including my most recent appointment on January 15, 2026. This was not a one-time visit or a snap judgment. I had enough interaction with the office to form an opinion about my experience as a patient. I have a significant dental history. Due to a serious accident, all of my upper teeth were removed in 2015, and I have worn upper dentures ever since. Because of that history, I place a high value on dentists and dental offices that take the time to understand a patient's circumstances, listen carefully, and discuss treatment options thoughtfully. Unfortunately, I left feeling that my concerns and history were not given the attention they deserved. During my visit, there was discussion regarding a filling, and it appeared that the dental assistant was advocating for a better option. However, that concern seemed to be brushed aside. The conversation then shifted toward replacing my upper dentures. I also later learned that another side/area of my mouth had been skipped or overlooked. My current dentist caught the issue, and when I brought it to their attention, they were surprised it had not been addressed previously. That reinforced my concern that my care at this office did not receive the level of attentiveness I expected. The office environment also added to my discomfort. In my experience, the front office staff did not come across as attentive or professional. There was casual chit-chat and gossip-style conversation that made it feel like patients were not the focus. I also observed comments and reactions around different languages being spoken in the office that came across as lacking awareness and empathy toward language barriers. As an Italian immigrant myself, I found that especially disappointing. A multilingual environment should be handled with respect, patience, and professionalism, not treated as something unusual or inconvenient. What made this particularly disappointing was that my current upper dentures were created by Dr. Robert Bronecki and have served me exceptionally well. Based on the quality of care I received from him and my experience during this visit, I was not comfortable pursuing major dental work at this practice. I expressed that respectfully. My concern is not that treatment options were presented. Dentists should absolutely discuss available options with their patients. My concern is that I did not feel listened to. I felt that my history, my circumstances, and my perspective as a patient were secondary to the treatment being recommended. I genuinely hope this feedback reaches Dr. Cumani directly because it is intended as constructive criticism. Every patient deserves to feel heard, respected, and understood, especially when they have a complex dental history. I left that appointment feeling less like a person and more like a sales opportunity. No patient should leave a dental office feeling dehumanized.
Very unprofessional, full of gossiping and hatred between co workers ( if only look can kill!!) always chaotic and not organized. Assistant does not understand what you're saying so many times, thus be prepared to learn some Albanian just in case. Bit farewell and remove yourself before they remove your good tooth by mistake...
I come here for my cleanings and my dental work and have for a few years. Some different scheduling issues I’ve had over the years. One time I had an appointment in the middle of the day, which I took off work for, and ended up sitting almost an hour past my appointment time. Once I asked what was going on, they finally told me a dentist had to go home early and they were short staffed. No one called and told me that or offered me to reschedule so I didn’t miss work. Then I had an appointment scheduled for my 6 month cleaning, but turns out it was scheduled for only 5 months out. I guess this is possibly on me for not noticing, but I once again took off work, came all the way there, was called back and sat in the chair before they realized that my insurance wouldn’t cover this appointment. It is clear this practice does not value the time of the people coming here. I will say that when they are actually able to take you the dental work is passable, but their scheduling inconsistencies are frustrating to say the least.
First time visiting here. I came in for a teeth cleaning and had a great experience! Since it had been a while since my last visit to dental office, they took X-rays and provided a professional, detailed breakdown of my dental health. Even though the office was busy, my wait time was very reasonable.
I have dental anxiety, and I have never felt anything but extremely well taken care of here. Dr Natalie Khalil is amazing, and always ensures I'm comfortable. She has been brining short of amazing. Melinda is also extraordinarily friendly, as is the entire staff, who truly makes the whole experience at this office top notch.
My kids started coming here first and I love them! Very nice people there! I just went for my first time this weekend and same thing a great experience. I love the communication with running behind. I work in the medical field so I definitely enjoyed this experience and my kid use to have a fear of dentist until I switched them here and they love it!
Although I got there 5 minutes past my 15 minute grace period, I didn't have to wait long. The staff and dentist were very friendly and informative. The machines there are newer unlike alot of these antiquated machines used in other dentist office. There is plenty of parking which is half the battle when your running laye to your appointment. All in all, I had a good experience. I would definitely recommend.
