About Simply Kids Dental

Simply Kids Dental operates on Vindicator Drive in the Northwest Colorado Springs area of Colorado Springs, Colorado. At the core of a general dental practice is preventive and restorative care: checkups, professional cleanings, fillings, and screening for decay and gum disease before either becomes a bigger problem. It is the kind of appointment most people need on a routine schedule rather than only when something hurts.

Routine attendance, roughly every six months for most people, is what actually keeps small problems small. A lot of decay and gum disease develops without any pain in its early stages, which is why regular checkups matter even when nothing seems to be wrong, rather than only booking an appointment once something hurts.

A first appointment at a new practice typically covers a full examination, a review of your dental and medical history, and a professional cleaning, with X-rays if you do not have recent ones. It is also a reasonable time to raise any longer-term concerns, cosmetic or otherwise, so they can be factored into a plan going forward.

Day-to-day oral health still comes down to the basics between visits — brushing twice daily with fluoride toothpaste, cleaning between the teeth, and limiting how often sugary food and drink appear through the day matters more than the total amount eaten at once. Regular professional care is what catches whatever those habits do not.

Digital X-rays are a routine part of dental care because they show what a visual exam alone cannot — decay forming between teeth, bone loss below the gumline, and how developing adult teeth are positioned in children. They use a low radiation dose and are taken on a schedule matched to individual risk rather than at every single visit.

Left untreated, small dental problems tend not to stay small. A minor cavity that would have been a straightforward filling can progress to needing root canal treatment and a crown, and early gum inflammation that would have reversed with a good cleaning can progress toward bone loss around the teeth. Catching things early is generally the difference in both effort and cost. Today I had my first experience & I am beyond thankful! From the 3 ladies at the front desk (my list of names didn’t save - sorry, I will call and update after 😂), to the office manager, dental hygienist (Justine), Nillayi, and Dr. Sean…I’m beyond grateful! My daughter experienced a horrible fall and had to go to the Emergency Room. A followup with a dentist was encouraged. Our Pediatric dentist is closed on Friday and after a failed attempt to a sister office, we called Simply Kids and they took us right away. My daughter’s tooth required an extraction (I figured that would be the case), she’s 1 so not a permanent tooth (Thank God!). They squeezed us in at 12:30, when the office closes at 1:00pm. Yes, they were busy. Also, if you are reading this review after reading all the one stars, yes I read them all. As someone with a healthcare background and personal dental experience to where I have a wealth of knowledge, I view things through a different lense. What’s true: 1. Yes, you are not allowed back with your child while they are under sedation in the sterile room. Did we like it? Nope, but what can you do about their policy. My one year old needed it done, yes she was crying, yes she was likely scared, but it’s a new experience that involves things she isn’t accustomed to. Of course she is going to cry! We don’t enjoy it, but what was best for her was to get her tooth pulled. Yes, they strapped her down, I understood why. She is 1 years old (almost 2). Like how could he pull her tooth out safely if she could move her body? It’s not possible. 2. Sedation was not covered by insurance and was almost $700. That could be shocking, but it’s a trade off. I either let the tooth stay in and get infected or pay $700. This was an emergency matter & my child needed the procedure. I paid the money before they did anything, why, they could have turned us away, said no. We weren’t patients just a family who needed help. They followed through and we were out quicker than I expected. $700 well spent! 3. The dentist is not a therapist! The dentist is there to care for your child’s teeth. Most of the one stars seem to come from parents who let their children where the parent hat. A child lacks wisdom, experience, and understanding. Dentistry is invasive, so yes, it may hurt and be uncomfortable. I hate some kids and parents experienced issues, I simply don’t have that experience. 4. This is a business! Yes, their business makes money off of your kids, just like doctor offices. Some parents are entitled and want you to bend over and do tricks just because they are paying you for a service! If Dr. Sean doesn’t spend 10 minutes talking to your child…who cares. As long as his interactions are kind, why do you need him to ask your child about school and their hobbies? The office is busy, many families come here (& keep coming). He is on the go, but even though my interactions were brief, they were effective and informative (just enough). He also spent a few minutes chatting after the procedure, which was the cherry on top! 5. Yes, while I was there I heard kids screaming, yelling, crying, but what do you expect to hear at a damn kids dentist. I walked by plenty of general dental appointments and the kids were calm. Also, this is a kids dentist. If they are in an anxious kids mouth, who’s bitten them, they are not being still, the goal is to get done quickly. Imagine working in a kids mouth and you stop but the child won’t open their mouth back open. Insanity! Pediatric dentistry is not easy! I’m not leaving this review because they are doing a raffle. I mentioned leaving a review before they said one word about it, but who doesn’t want a chance to win some amazing items. Dr. Sean mentioned he’d follow-up today (6/26), which was a nice touch. No call received, but after seeing his workload, I wouldn’t expect him to call. He met with us prior to leaving and I’m happy with that. Overall, I want to thank everyone we interacted with during our visit! We now have peace of mind.

WALID! Fantastic fantastic human being in general. Walid sat us down and explained every aspect of the appointment, walid never treated my questions as silly and if I asked multiple questions walid didn’t forget one even if we had to back track. 100% going to make walid our child’s regular hygienist. And then the office manager Nawal *chef kiss* an Angel. Played with my child while I filled out paperwork and if I had a question about procedures or literally anything she was extremely knowledgeable. Would rate 10 stars if I could
