About Smile Center for Kids

Smile Center for Kids operates on Sunland Park Drive in El Paso, Texas. Pediatric dental care is built around treating children specifically — dentists with additional training in child development and behaviour management, and offices designed to make a first visit unintimidating. Guidance generally points to a child's first dental visit around age one or within six months of the first tooth.

General dentistry covers the routine and restorative care most people need most often — examinations, cleanings, fillings, and preventive checks that catch problems while they are still small and inexpensive to treat. Regular attendance, roughly every six months for most patients, is what makes that early-catch approach actually work.

Dental anxiety is common, and most practices are used to working with nervous patients — through clear explanations of what is about to happen, a slower pace where needed, and sedation options for patients who want them. Avoiding the dentist out of anxiety tends to make eventual treatment more involved, not less.

Children benefit from starting dental visits early, generally by their first birthday or within six months of the first tooth coming through, mainly so they become familiar with the setting before any treatment is actually needed. Establishing that routine early tends to make ongoing checkups far less stressful for both child and parent.

Payment and insurance arrangements vary by practice and by treatment, so it is worth asking directly what is covered and what options exist for anything that is not, rather than assuming either way. Getting that clarified before treatment starts avoids surprises once it is underway.

Beyond any single treatment, most dental visits start with an examination — checking for decay, reviewing the gums, and looking at existing fillings or crowns — often alongside X-rays where there is a reason to look between or beneath teeth. That groundwork is what a dentist uses to explain any findings and set out next steps before you leave. I want to share our experience at this dental office. My daughter was seen by Dr. Tiffany Wilson. However, during treatment my daughter was in pain and crying due to a tooth infection and numbing shot. During this moment, the dentist told her, “Can you stop crying, you’re scaring the other kids” As a parent of a child that is on the spectrum I found this comment upsetting and not appropriate for a child who was already distressed. I did follow up with the office manager George afterward and voiced my concerns. I appreciate that the issue was heard, but I hope going forward more reassurance and patience can be used when treating children in pain, as this is a very stressful experience for them. I’m sharing this so other parents are aware of our experience. We usually get seen by Amanda Griego she is AMAZING, and can tell she loves what she does

I had a fantastic experience! Initially, I thought the practice only catered to children, but they exceeded my expectations for my adult exam and cleaning. The staff was polite and efficient, making the visit pleasant. Gio did an excellent job with the imaging, and my hygienist was super gentle. Overall, I had a wonderful experience and look forward to returning!

Our visit was delightful. When you walk in, the atmosphere is very inviting. Josh assisted my 2 year old and he was very patient and kind. He took the time to explain the process to her and she even got a gift after! Then the doctor, came singing which was amazing and quickly found a way to relate to my two year old. Oh and the TV’s on the ceiling! What a way to keep the kids entertained during an invasive process. Great visit overall 10/10
