About Smile Galaxy Pediatric Dentistry
Smile Galaxy Pediatric Dentistry is a dental practice on South Pennsylvania Avenue in the South Oklahoma City area of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Pediatric dental care is built around treating children specifically — dentists with additional training in child development and behaviour management, and offices designed to make a first visit unintimidating. Guidance generally points to a child's first dental visit around age one or within six months of the first tooth.
Beyond any single treatment, most dental visits start with an examination — checking for decay, reviewing the gums, and looking at existing fillings or crowns — often alongside X-rays where there is a reason to look between or beneath teeth. That groundwork is what a dentist uses to explain any findings and set out next steps before you leave.
Routine attendance, roughly every six months for most people, is what actually keeps small problems small. A lot of decay and gum disease develops without any pain in its early stages, which is why regular checkups matter even when nothing seems to be wrong, rather than only booking an appointment once something hurts.
A first appointment at a new practice typically covers a full examination, a review of your dental and medical history, and a professional cleaning, with X-rays if you do not have recent ones. It is also a reasonable time to raise any longer-term concerns, cosmetic or otherwise, so they can be factored into a plan going forward.
Day-to-day oral health still comes down to the basics between visits — brushing twice daily with fluoride toothpaste, cleaning between the teeth, and limiting how often sugary food and drink appear through the day matters more than the total amount eaten at once. Regular professional care is what catches whatever those habits do not.
Digital X-rays are a routine part of dental care because they show what a visual exam alone cannot — decay forming between teeth, bone loss below the gumline, and how developing adult teeth are positioned in children. They use a low radiation dose and are taken on a schedule matched to individual risk rather than at every single visit. Great Experience today.. Sarah was so great with my son.. informative kind and patient.. I could not of asked for a better experience..
Vicky was friendly and made my son feel comfortable throughout the visit. Sophia was so sweet at the end and gave him stickers for being such a great patient. They both made the experience positive and enjoyable!
The assistant was very attentive with my child and took the time to explain everything. The doctor very informative and helpful.
We have been going to Smile Galaxy for over five years, and I have never had a negative experience. My three children actually love going to the dentist because the entire team makes them feel comfortable and welcome. The staff, hygienists, and Dr. Jun are always kind, patient, and professional. They do a wonderful job making each visit a positive experience, and I highly recommend them to other families!
I personally was seen here as a young kid & am in my mid 20’s now. I have called and made a formal complaint with staff over this incident. However today my lil girl (4 years old) was essentially told that she is a bad kid & my mother who stepped in on my behalf today was told “there is a standard for children here and how they are to act” the dental assistant was absolutely worthless. And doesn’t need to be in a pediatric dental clinic if she’s going to expect a 4 year old to be completely still and not get upset when she hurts her mouth. Respectfully as possible- the hiring standards here have gone way downhill over the last 20 years. Dr Malloy is fantastic & it’s sad to see honestly. Not sure I will ever be taking my lil girl back here again and she’s been being seen by dr Malloy for several years now. I don’t know nor do I care to know this ladies name- however she is in space 2 in the back & should absolutely be removed from her position at a pediatric facility. First bad experience in this dental office in 20 years of going there. & I truly hope something will be done about it- because how dare you spear to a child the way you did. I am a very up front and forward parent, my child can be a lil hard to deal with at times especially when she’s tired & just drove 2 hours for a dental visit…but she was by no means out of control or being a “bad kid” she wasn’t screaming, she wasn’t fighting, she started crying when the chick caught her gums while cleaning. God forbid a toddler cry. Absolutely terrible and I hope this lady ends up taking care of geriatric patients rather than children- what a waste. Seriously.
Very good experience. The people who answers the phone can be a bit rude from time to time but the receptionist up front are really nice and the place is really big and cool for kiddos.
I love Smile Galaxy pediatric dentist! Front desk is super nice. Even the lady Sophia I believe is her name, was sooo nice!! My son loved Vicky the dental assistant, she was extremely patient and reassuring with my 3 year old. Also, the doctor was nice! I 100% recommend this place!
We absolutely love taking our kids to Smile Galaxy Dentistry! The entire team is always so kind, patient, and helpful with our children. They really take their time with the kids and never make us feel rushed, which means so much as a parent. One day we were running late because of traffic, and when I called, Veronica was incredibly nice and understanding about it. She reassured me and made the situation so much less stressful. My son’s dental assistant, Valerie, was also amazing. She was so kind and accommodating to his needs, taking extra time with him and showing so much patience. It made the whole experience so much easier for him. We also love Dr. Jun! He’s always very helpful and makes sure we understand exactly what we need to do to keep our kids’ teeth healthy. We actually live closer to Noble, but we happily drive to South OKC just to come here because of how wonderful they are with kids. I highly recommend Smile Galaxy Dentistry to anyone looking for a great kids dentist!
