I had an appointment today at Smiles by Shields Dentistry to have three old amalgam fillings replaced. Going into the appointment, I was told that two of the teeth would likely require crowns and one would simply need a new filling. Since I’ve never needed extensive dental work before, I was a little anxious about the procedure and definitely not excited about the anticipated cost. After removing the old fillings and carefully evaluating the teeth, Dr. Z determined that crowns were not necessary at this time and that all three teeth could be restored with new fillings. Not only did this save me thousands of dollars, but it also made the entire process much faster and less invasive than I expected. What impressed me most was the honesty and professionalism. It would have been easy to move forward with the crowns, but Dr. Z clearly put my best interests first and recommended only the treatment that was truly needed. If crowns become necessary down the road, we’ll address that then, but I’m grateful that a more conservative approach was taken today. The entire team at Smiles by Shields Dentistry was outstanding. Everyone was friendly, professional, and made me feel comfortable from start to finish. Dr. Z has an excellent bedside manner, explains things clearly, works efficiently, and genuinely cares about his patients. It’s reassuring to know you’re in the hands of professionals who are highly skilled, trustworthy, and focused on providing the right treatment rather than the most expensive treatment. I highly recommend Smiles by Shields Dentistry and Dr. Z to anyone looking for exceptional dental care!

When I had an emergency they worked me in, even though they were fully booked, and gave me a crown that they made in house. And there was zero pain involved . In addition to being a fantastic dentist, Dr. Shields is also a wonderful and warm person — everyone there is warm and friendly and helpful. The office is immaculate, decorated nicely, has lots of windows which provide good natural light, and the air is clean and fresh with the help of quality air purifiers. There are large televisions in every room playing serene videos. From the holistic approach, to the quality of care, to the pleasant atmosphere, this place is extraordinary
