About Smiles & Co. Pediatric Dentistry

Based on Maguire Road in Ocoee, Florida, Smiles & Co. Pediatric Dentistry is a dental practice serving the area. Pediatric dental care is built around treating children specifically — dentists with additional training in child development and behaviour management, and offices designed to make a first visit unintimidating. Guidance generally points to a child's first dental visit around age one or within six months of the first tooth.

A sealant is a thin protective coating applied to the chewing surfaces of the back teeth, where the deep grooves collect plaque and food that brushing struggles to reach. It is most often applied to children's permanent molars shortly after they come through, though adults can benefit too.

A professional cleaning removes the plaque and hardened tartar that brushing and flossing cannot reach, particularly along the gumline, and is the core of routine preventive care. Most people benefit from a cleaning roughly every six months, more often for those managing gum disease.

Tooth Decay Treatment is also among the treatments offered here, and the practice can explain what it involves and whether it fits your situation at a consultation.

Digital X-rays are a routine part of dental care because they show what a visual exam alone cannot — decay forming between teeth, bone loss below the gumline, and how developing adult teeth are positioned in children. They use a low radiation dose and are taken on a schedule matched to individual risk rather than at every single visit.

Left untreated, small dental problems tend not to stay small. A minor cavity that would have been a straightforward filling can progress to needing root canal treatment and a crown, and early gum inflammation that would have reversed with a good cleaning can progress toward bone loss around the teeth. Catching things early is generally the difference in both effort and cost. You can reach Smiles & Co. Can you get a cavity between teeth?
Yes, and it is common, which is why flossing matters and why dentists take X-rays. Decay between teeth is invisible to the eye until it is well advanced, so it is frequently found on an X-ray first.
Does a cavity always need a filling?
Once decay has broken through the enamel it does need treatment, because it will keep progressing. What that treatment involves depends on depth: a filling for most, and more extensive work if it has reached the nerve.
Are dental X-rays safe for children?
Modern digital X-rays use a very low dose and are taken only when there is a clinical reason. They show decay between teeth and problems with developing adult teeth that cannot be seen by looking.

The team at this practice has gone above and beyond for our son. Our son was extremely scared of the dentist, even to sit in chair. After 3 happy visits and extreme patience from the staff, we completed a full appointment today x-rays and all! The staff here is so wonderful! Definitely recommend

By far the best dental office! I’ve been taking my kids here for about 3–4 years, and we absolutely love it. Dr. Angie is amazing she is incredibly patient and kind with my kids. I truly appreciate how she explains everything to them as she goes, which helps them feel comfortable and at ease. Coming from a dental background and having worked with many dentists, I can confidently say her work is excellent. I will gladly make the 30-minute drive to bring my kids here. Thank you, Dr. Angie, and thank you to the entire team they are all wonderful!

I am very impressed with this pediatric dentist office. It is very clean and the paperwork and administrative part was made very easy. Dr. Angie is like the "dentist whisperer" as she did well with 4 of my children. I have two children with special needs and she and her dental hygienists were all great, explained to the kids what was happening, and put them at ease and they were not scared at all. Dr. Angie went out of her way to call me directly after my appointment to even recommend a specific toothpaste for my son who has sensory issues, and I was blown away that she would go above and beyond to do that. That makes me feel very confident as a parent that she cares for her patients and their oral health. Melissa at the front desk was also awesome working with me getting scheduled for follow-up treatment and they even made sure I had the necessary school forms without me forgetting and then having to jump through hoops for a school note. My kids were even welcomed on the chalkboard as new patients. I highly recommend this practice!
