About Smiles For Kids Dentistry & Orthodontics, East

Smiles for Kids Dentistry & Orthodontics — East is a pediatric and orthodontic practice located at 2801 Eubank Blvd NE in the northeast Albuquerque area of New Mexico. The practice serves children and adolescents in the 87112 zip code and the surrounding communities along the Eubank Blvd corridor, offering both pediatric dental care and orthodontic treatment under one roof.

Pediatric dentistry at this location covers the oral health needs of patients from early childhood through the teenage years. Services include first dental visits for toddlers and young children, routine cleanings and fluoride treatments, dental sealants to protect molars from decay, and monitoring of tooth eruption and jaw development. Early identification of developing orthodontic issues is an important component of pediatric dental care.

Orthodontic services complement the pediatric dental program, allowing families to transition from children’s dentistry to orthodontic treatment at the same location. Orthodontic consultations evaluate bite alignment, crowding, and spacing, and treatment options may include traditional braces or clear aligner systems depending on the case complexity and patient preference.

Receiving pediatric dental care and orthodontic treatment at the same location can simplify coordination for families. The treating dentist and orthodontist share records and can communicate directly when a child’s dental development needs to be considered alongside active orthodontic treatment — for instance, when a tooth extraction is being considered to facilitate better tooth alignment.

Eubank Blvd NE runs north-south through northeast Albuquerque, accessible from communities including Hoffmantown, Four Hills, the Menaul corridor, and the areas near Kirtland Air Force Base. The practice’s location along this corridor makes it reachable from a broad range of east-side residential neighborhoods.

Parents scheduling a first visit for their child can expect an age-appropriate examination and a discussion of what to expect at future appointments. For orthodontic consultations, families will receive a treatment plan and cost outline before active treatment begins. To schedule, use the contact information provided on this page.

Parents of children in active orthodontic treatment should ensure their child maintains regular dental cleanings throughout the treatment period. Braces and other orthodontic appliances create additional areas where plaque can accumulate, increasing the risk of cavities and gum problems during treatment. A practice that offers both pediatric dentistry and orthodontics under one roof can coordinate these care needs efficiently.

Smiles For Kids Dentistry & Orthodontics, East is a dental practice on Eubank Boulevard Northeast in the Conchas Park area of Albuquerque, New Mexico, offering children / pediatric dentistry and orthodontics among its listed services. Incredible patient care, they're low staffed and under so much pressure and they still manage to be super nice and helpful to us and they got us out as soon as possible even under this stress, they could definitely use extra help since they have a lot of patients but they're work is excellent! Thank you staff!

Overall I have been happy with taking my kids here for the past 10 or so years. I had an experience with on of the doctors this week that has me considering taking my kids elsewhere. Lucky for us, dentists are the one medical service we have a good supply of in New Mexico. I have sent a complaint to the office. If they make sure we never see that provider again, then I may continue to go there. It really is "one bad apple...."

Update September 2026 The dental assistant who cleaned my son's teeth was kind and supportive. They always make my son feel safe and at ease. He's had to have teeth removed and used to be scared of going to the dentist, but now he does great. He showed no signs of anxiety about being there. The people looking after my son were kind, patient, and professional. I would definitely recommend to friends who have children.

* * 34 minutes ago I can't thank the team at this pediatric dental office enough for the care they showed my son today. He had been in so much pain from a tooth that he wasn't eating well. While I understand schedules can be busy, I was discouraged to hear the next available appointment was in September for a child in pain. Thankfully, three incredible team members Jodeca (sorry i didn't get your spelling) Evan and Jessica went above and beyond to make sure my son was seen the same day. Their compassion, teamwork, and willingness to help made all the difference. They didn't just treat his tooth, they treated us with kindness, empathy, and genuine care. Thank you for reminding me that there are still healthcare professionals who truly put patients first. I am beyond grateful for everything you did today. The only area I hope to see improved is appointment availability for children experiencing urgent dental pain. Other than that, the care we received was exceptional. With gratitude, A very thankful mom.

1st couldn’t find our appointment that they confirmed the week prior. 2nd they told me that we didn’t have insurance even tho we have used this dental office for over 7 years and have had the same insurance. I had to call the insurance to confirm and once I did they still didn’t believe me.. I offered my insurance card numerous times and they declined it. Stating they had the information Once I forced them to confirm my insurance information they discovered they had our insurance under the WRONG name. I did not need an apology but sure did not need a bad attitude either, especially when I did the work to correct their mistake. We then had to wait 20 additional minutes to get to exam room. Now 30 minutes after appointment time. The staff in the back was fantastic as always. I understand that this is a busy office but your front end personnel are horrible and treat people poorly. Shameful.

My son has been going here from his first dental check up in 2015 we loved it till recently we went in for a cleaning and he saw Dr. Susan Kim for the first time and she asked if we wanted to take his 2 loose baby tooth out I said No and pointed at my son now 10yrs old he shook his head "NO" and she put her fingers in his mouth with out any numbing medicine and pulled his tooth out which made him cry, I was in SHOCK and then took out the 2nd one while he was crying I was so in SHOCK that she did that I was Furious and she told the Dental assistant make sure she signs the extraction paper work I denied it as i told her "NO" but some how was forced to sign it! My son said he never wants to go back so i switched that next day to a different Dental office! She also told me my son and daughter needed braces and said the front can schedule you on the Ortho side i said no my daughters Teeth are perfect she had braces from them before and my son is going to ABQ Otho I felt scammed being there after seeing that Dentist . We had great times before BUT ppl are right the wait is long and ppl were seen before us and they checked in after us and when we need to call the office we get a Customer Service line and cant get through to the office! Now the Office wont call me back to get an ROI to release to the new Dental office!
