About Smiles of Aurora

Dr. Dustin Goetz, DDS, and Dr. Charlie Malzenski, DMD, run an unusually wide-menu office for a practice of this size. Under one roof on North Constitution Drive in Aurora sit preventive care, crowns and bridges, root canals, wisdom tooth removal, implants including All-on-4 full-arch cases, periodontal treatment, children's dentistry, Invisalign, Six Month Smiles and conventional braces, TMJ therapy, sedation and facial aesthetics. Spanish is spoken. The practice states it is reachable after hours for emergencies and keeps room in the daily schedule for same-day pain visits: a broken tooth, a lost crown, a molar that started throbbing overnight.

All-on-4 is the headline implant option here, and the name describes the support rather than the result. Two fixtures go in upright at the front of the jaw. The back two are set at an angle, which lets each of them be longer and lets both sit clear of the sinus above and the nerve canal below, instead of running through territory that would have to be built up first. A machined abutment corrects that tilt so the bridge sitting on top still meets the opposing teeth square. What the technique is not is a universal answer. Severe bone loss, uncontrolled gum disease, heavy grinding and smoking all shift the risk picture, and a fixed bridge has to be cleaned underneath every single day with interdental brushes and floss threaders most people have never handled. Ask to be shown that routine before you commit rather than afterwards, because the space between bridge and gum is where these cases quietly fail.

Six Month Smiles is worth understanding on the same terms. It moves the front teeth that show when you smile, over a shorter course, using tooth-coloured brackets and wires. It is cosmetic alignment and it does not correct the bite the way comprehensive orthodontics does. For mild crowding or relapse after teenage braces, that is frequently exactly enough; for a genuine crossbite, a deep overbite or a jaw discrepancy, it is not the right tool.

The office occupies a small commercial development on the west side with its own parking, an easy stop for anyone already moving along the Indian Trail and Route 31 side of the city. Saturday mornings start early, Monday and Wednesday run into the evening, and financing through third-party credit sits alongside acceptance of most major insurance carriers.

Dr. Dustin Goetz and Dr. Charlie Malzenski cover an unusually broad range from North Constitution Drive on Aurora's west side: preventive care, crowns and bridges, root canals, wisdom teeth, implants including All-on-4 full arches, periodontal and children's treatment, Invisalign, Six Month Smiles and braces, TMJ therapy, sedation and facial aesthetics. Spanish is spoken, the practice states it is reachable after hours for urgent problems, and same-day pain visits are held open. Early Saturdays and two late evenings suit working schedules.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why are the back implants tilted in an All-on-4 case?
Angling them lets each fixture be longer and lets it sit clear of the sinus in the upper jaw and the nerve canal in the lower one, which is the anatomy that would otherwise force a graft and add months to treatment. The tilt is then corrected by a machined abutment, so the bridge above still meets the opposing teeth squarely. Whether your jaw allows it is a question for the scan, not the brochure.
How does Six Month Smiles differ from full braces?
It moves the front teeth that show when you smile, using tooth-coloured brackets and wires over a shorter course. That is cosmetic alignment rather than bite correction. For mild crowding or relapse after teenage braces it is often exactly enough. For a genuine crossbite, a deep overbite or an underlying jaw discrepancy it is not, and comprehensive orthodontics or a full aligner plan is the appropriate route instead.
Can I be seen after hours for a dental emergency?
The practice states it is available after hours for urgent problems and keeps same-day room during the working week for pain, broken teeth and lost crowns. Call before turning up so someone can advise you on what to do in the meantime. Swelling spreading towards the eye or throat, or any difficulty swallowing or breathing, is a hospital emergency rather than a dental one; go to an emergency department.

Dr Goetz and staff are very thorough. They make you feel very comfortable. I moved and went to a different dentist and came back to them because they're the best.

Besides everyone at least having a nice attitude I would not recommend going here. They prioritize quantity not quality. Everytime I have gone there is minimum 10 minute wait however this last time it was 30 so I left. No one called to forewarn me of them running 30 minutes or more behind, I did not give option to adjust my appt to a later time or day etc. Although team is nice I also prefer good customer service. No follow up with apology shows they do not care for their patients or their time.

I’ve been going to smiles of Aurora for many years now. I have always had a very positive experience with the staff as well as Dr Goetz. They are attentive to my needs and accommodating to my scheduling needs. They provide excellent care and have taken care of my dental needs successfully for many years. I continue to use Smiles of Aurora for the professionalism and except care!

My crown has come off twice after the original date and ive had similar issues with parts coming out abnormally after an appointment here. Reception only offers convenient appointments times when scheduling. I have to have a family member call to schedule appointments instead of myself because of the amount of times reception has priotized my family members over me. I am always told me it is a minimum of a month wait until I am able to come in or that the dentist is unavailable.

I have had some bad experiences with dentists in the past (one who should have retired but instead messed up the whole side of my face with two fillings). This dentist I went to for TMJ issues but it turned out to be a bone infection in my jaw after COVID (thanks, COVID, for delay of care!) and I was incredibly impressed with Dr. Goetz! I continue to go to him even though he is kind of far away. He is slow to suggest root canals/crowns and takes extra steps to disinfect inside the tooth so there is no chance of leftover issues (a big concern, coming from a very crunchy family.) I have never had such confidence in a dentist, and I will go to him as long as possible even with a commute.
