About SoDo Smiles Dentistry

SoDo Smiles Dentistry is a dental practice on South Orange Avenue in the Pineloch area of Orlando, Florida. A veneer is a thin custom shell bonded to the front of a tooth to change its shape, length, or colour, most often used to address chips, gaps, or discoloration that whitening alone cannot fix. Traditional veneers require a small amount of enamel to be removed, which makes the change permanent.

Cosmetic treatment is generally the least invasive branch of dentistry, built around changing how teeth look rather than fixing something broken. Whitening and bonding sit at the lighter end; veneers and reshaping involve more planning. Most cosmetic dental insurance excludes this kind of work, since it is elective rather than medically necessary.

A crown covers an entire damaged tooth — used when too much structure is missing for a filling to hold reliably, whether from a large fracture, extensive decay, or after root canal treatment. It restores both the shape and the biting strength of the tooth underneath.

Professional teeth whitening uses a peroxide-based gel, applied under supervision at a strength stronger than anything sold over the counter, to lift years of staining from coffee, tea, red wine, and tobacco. It works on natural enamel only — existing crowns, veneers, and fillings keep whatever shade they were made in.

Dental Bonding is also among the treatments offered here, and the practice can explain what it involves and whether it fits your situation at a consultation.

A filling repairs a tooth after decay has been cleaned out, most often using tooth-coloured composite resin that is shaped and bonded to blend with the surrounding tooth. It is usually completed in a single appointment and is one of the most routine restorative procedures in dentistry.

A professional cleaning removes the plaque and hardened tartar that brushing and flossing cannot reach, particularly along the gumline, and is the core of routine preventive care. Most people benefit from a cleaning roughly every six months, more often for those managing gum disease. Frequently Asked Questions

Do fillings hurt?
The procedure itself is normally done under local anaesthetic, so you should feel pressure rather than pain. Some sensitivity to hot and cold in the days afterward is common and usually settles on its own.
What are tooth-coloured fillings made of?
They are composite resin, a mix of plastic and fine glass particles that is shaded to match the surrounding tooth and bonded into place. The main appeal over silver amalgam is appearance, particularly on teeth that show when you smile.
Can a cleaning remove stains from coffee and tea?
A professional cleaning removes surface staining that has attached to plaque and tartar, so teeth usually look noticeably brighter afterward. It does not change the underlying colour of the enamel itself — that is what whitening addresses.

I’m updating my review for Sodo Smiles. To be honest, from my perspective, the way they handle business feels like a scam. It isn't professional; it feels like they are playing games. They were telling me and showing me one thing on the computer screen in person at the office, but when I called the billing department, they were telling me a whole different number. It took a system error nearly the entire month of May to get situated—everything wasn’t resolved until May 28th. I am grateful and appreciative that the account is finally at the correct amount now, but it took several phone calls on my end to make that happen. However, what I still stand behind is the fact that they knew I had periodontal gum disease and knew I needed a saliva test. Instead of making sure that was part of the plan from the jump, they threw it on me at the last minute. That is completely and utterly unprofessional. Furthermore, when I schedule an appointment for periodontal maintenance, I shouldn't be waiting over 30 minutes—20 minutes sitting in the waiting room after my appointed time, and then another 10 minutes in the chair just for the dentist to set up the room. That is unacceptable and needs to be better. The lack of communication is absurd. I called Sodo Smiles and asked for a callback to explain or figure out the situation with my account. They never called me back. The third-party billing company called them multiple times and never got a response either. The transparency and integrity just aren't there. One of the women at the front claimed they "didn't know" I had to do the saliva test until my second visit, which resulted in me spending more out of pocket. How do you not know I have periodontal gum disease when it is on my chart? I never want to go back here. This is the worst dental company I have ever had to deal with. I felt taken advantage of, almost paying nearly two times more than what I was supposed to. It would have been appreciated if a manager or someone higher up had reached out to get this situated, but that never happened. I cannot recommend this place to anybody. It is completely beyond the pale. I shouldn't have had to go through this for a whole month. I thank God I was able to get the account up to date, but it was without the office lifting a finger to help. I shouldn't have to keep blowing up the office phone or leave voicemails that never get returned. I left a five-star review in the past because they were a blessing to me initially; they took me in when I was going through severe gum disease and took care of me. But when it came to the billing and the operational side of things, they fell very short and missed the mark. The terrible experience I had with the administration outweighed the service I received.

Highly skilled doctors and dentist team. I have severe periodontal disease and they took it seriously doing all the right treatment steps :) They were very respectful and actually listened to all my concerns. They have incredibly advance equipment taking a 3D scan of your teeth, mouth, and even wind pipe! Their office has a lot more advanced treatment options than any other dentist office I ever been to. They're even able to help get me fitted for a mouth guard for my mild sleep apnea.

I have a really great experience at this dental office. The team was friendly and made me feel comfortable from the moment I walked in. The dentist and hygienist took the time to thoroughly explain everything in a way that was easy to understand, which I appreciated. They were very attentive to my concerns and made sure all my questions were answered without rushing. You can tell they genuinely care about their patients. Overall, I felt well taken care of.

Been coming here for 6 years. Jey has been my hygienist the entire time and takes care of me well. I appreciate the customer service from doctor Peters as well. First dentist office I’ve actually been loyal to. Thank you guys! Sandra and Juan in the front were outstanding today, thanks for the extra spin ;)

I’m not the one that reviews anything or anywhere, but I absolutely must for SoDo Smiles! From the moment I walked in the front office, I was immediately welcomed by Sandra. It was the quickest check in I ever had! I did not have to wait past my appointment time, which was a huge issue with my previous dentist. I came in wanting to remove two decayed wisdom teeth, something my previous dentist said was necessary. They were charging me $471 out of pocket. Dr. Aileen explained the process to me, step by step. I actually felt human from walking in to walking out instead of the normal “we just want your money” attitude. Amir took my X-Rays. Carmen, the hygienist, was super nice! She informed and educated me about early gum disease. She followed through providing me with gum therapy, a process to help not only manage my gums but also increase healing time with lasers. Did I mention how cool the eye protection glasses were? Both of them! All I needed was a tux to relive Men in Black 😊 It turns out I only had one wisdom tooth that needed pulling and a filling. What a relief! 😅 Sandra, who checked me in, was the health coordinator that helped me save tons! The fact that I can remember everyone’s name is a huge deal 😌 I am super happy with my decision in choosing SoDo. Honestly, I wish there were more stars. 10/10 recommend!!

I’ve needed a cleaning and exam for a long time. I’m so happy I found a nice dentist that is local and so close to home. Dr. Peters and the staff are very professional, kind and focused on high quality care. I was immediately impressed by the imaging they took. I had a CBCT and Full mouth of x-ray. I was completely comfortable the entire time. I didn’t need to wait long to get into my appointment. They are also so thorough with diagnosis and explaining what you need and why. Definitely recommend them if you’re looking for a dentist

I cannot stand going to the dentist. It’s just too much for me and way too expensive. But Dr. Peters and my hygienist Jey are the best. Jey especially has been amazing. He’s helped me and educated me on taking better care of my smile. He told me to get a water flosser at my last appointment and that’s been a game changer. He’s so genuine and kind. His kindness and patience have helped make my visits to the dentist more enjoyable. I’m actually looking forward to going back in a few months, just to see if my oral health is still intact. Thanks Jey! You’re definitely walking in your purpose. God bless you.
