I have been a patient at Sage Dental South Miami in 5966 S Dixie Hwy since 2020. Prior to moving to Florida, my dental care, including treatment for gum recession and retainers, was managed consistently by dentists in Dallas. Although I had ongoing dental concerns, I never felt that my oral health was at significant risk because my treatment was carefully monitored. Since becoming a patient at Sage Dental South Miami, I often felt pressured to purchase additional products and services. Initially, I was satisfied with my hygienist, but after she left, I began seeing a different hygienist. During my appointments with her, the cleanings were consistently painful and felt excessively aggressive. When I expressed concerns, I was repeatedly told that the discomfort was due to my own inadequate oral hygiene. The hygienist strongly recommended a hydrogen peroxide treatment and sold the same treatment to my husband for approximately $700. When I later discovered that the gel itself could be purchased on Amazon for around $50 and mentioned this to her, she explained that the difference was the customized trays. I decided not to proceed with the treatment. After that interaction, I felt that her attitude toward me changed noticeably. Our conversations became uncomfortable, and I felt she was often rude and dismissive. During my most recent visit, after a particularly rough cleaning, my permanent retainer became detached. As a result, I had to pay an orthodontist to create a temporary retainer for nighttime use. Unfortunately, this temporary solution has contributed to additional gum irritation and recession concerns. Overall, I am deeply disappointed with the quality of care and professionalism I have experienced. What began as concerns about sales pressure evolved into concerns about the impact of my treatment on my oral health. For these reasons, I am now looking for a new dentist for my entire family.

I had a very frustrating experience with Sage Dental due to billing issues that should never have happened in the first place. I was charged out of pocket for procedures that were fully covered by my insurance. I confirmed this directly with my insurance provider before taking the next steps. To try and resolve it, I went back to the office and had my insurance company speak directly with their billing staff. During that call, I was told the claim would be resubmitted and that it could take up to two weeks. After waiting, I followed up with my insurance again, only to find out that the claim was never resubmitted at all. This is not just a simple mistake, this is poor follow-through and a lack of accountability. Patients should not have to chase down basic billing corrections, especially when insurance coverage has already been verified. If you go here, double-check everything they charge you and don’t assume their billing is accurate. I am still waiting for this issue to be properly resolved.

Very bad experience I booked an appointment for me and my brother and it was confirmed by the clinic. They even called me two days before to confirm it. I drove a long distance to get there, only to find out that the clinic was closed. When I called them, they told me that my appointment was for tomorrow, not today, even though I have a confirmation email and it was also confirmed by phone. On top of that, they put me on hold instead of solving the issue. This is a complete waste of time and very unprofessional. If you don’t value your time, go to a place that is poorly managed. ❌ I will not be returning and do not recommend this place.

As a patient I am concerned about my health. When a doctor tells me I need to do something; I do it and find a way to pay for it. This was the case with my dental experience of Safe Dental of South Miami. As I look back on being a patient there, I am now able to see a pattern of my dental health continuous getting since I joined this practice. The practice subtly and continuously “upsell” unnecessary dental services, taking advantage of trusting patients. Everything from “deep cleanings” to a tooth extraction (due to the fault of their dentist- SEE PHOTO) the dental charges kept mounting into the thousands of dollars. Regarding care, my dental health got worse with more visits. In my last experience at SDSM, the dentist placed a crown on a fractured tooth which they advised me that it would not make a difference. Two weeks later I returned to the practice with an infection which had caused my face to swell up. I needed to have the tooth pulled and have a root canal. The charges were in the thousands of dollars. I feel I need to speak out against this practice. Yes. I was totally informed of the charges. However, it never occurred to me to “shop” dentist. Now I know better.

Upon walking in to the office they are very welcoming and my first impression is the office is very clean and beautifully decorated. My husband is the one being serviced and they have treated him very kindly upon his first visit. Will return!

I've been coming here for a few years after a terrible experience at a dentist who was super shady. This office was the exact opposite. The most current denist is very personable, knowledge, and makes you feel safe and comfortable. The staff always goes above and beyond. Deidra is our hygienist and always does an amazing job. When I was pregnant, another hygienist did her best to not touch my tongue to make sure I didn't gag/throw up. The current dentist was filling my cavities and saw the chip in my front tooth and fixed it for free. I also love that they present your payment plan BEFORE service so you know exactly what you're expecting financially and can question or refuse any service. I highly recommend this dentist office.
