My wife Rajee had her wisdom tooth removed and the process from consultation to tooth extraction was very professional. Dr. Connelly is very caring and took time to keep her informed during all the steps . She was very satisfied. The office also explained about the insurance coverage to our full satisfaction. We will get back to them for any future dental work when needed.

I was referred to Song Oral by my hygienist for a long overdue extraction. Before I was able to schedule the procedure, I was told I needed to sit for a mandatory consultation with Dr. Song at the Union location. Prior to scheduling this consultation, I had encountered some accounts of predatory billing practices via Yelp—I luckily did not experience any of this, but I personally found the consultation overpriced for the time and depth provided (around $350 for a 15-minute consultation that involved mainly social small talk). As part of the consultation, Dr. Song briefly disclosed a list of potential, rare complications that could result from the extraction procedure. I asked whether he could speak on his record, particularly regarding successful outcomes and rates of post-operative complications, before deciding to proceed with him. In my view, his reply came across as confrontational and irritated, to the effect of, “What do you mean? This is my specialty?” Suffice to say, this gave me pause, as I was hoping for a more direct, transparent, and objective answer. In my opinion, specialization is not a direct correlate for competence or skill; by that logic, all taxi drivers, being specialized in driving, would be good drivers. Dr. Song may well be a skilled surgeon, but whether or not he had a momentary lapse in judgment or reason, I decided to pursue another surgeon. My reasoning was that if he could not reply reasonably and neutrally to a question about his record as a practitioner without, in my view, involving hubris, I could not rely on him to practice good judgment in an operative context. I was eventually operated on by Dr. Connelly, who is an extremely qualified, fast, and skillful surgeon. He invested the time in calming my nerves prior to the extractions and was able to complete the procedure in less than a minute without my noticing that he had even begun. Additionally, after my consultation, I was not contacted for nearly a week to schedule my procedure and did not receive responses to at least two emails requesting scheduling. They ended up calling me a week later to “remind” me of a separate appointment I had never confirmed or made, which I found strange. To note: the strange consultation experience and scheduling delays took place at the Union Street office. In my experience, the Geary office was much more professional and timely with communications.

I’ve had two great experiences with Song Oral Surgery. The staff is welcoming, professional, and caring. Dr. Connelly and the team provided detailed information on what to expect ahead of time, including how to prepare, options for local anesthesia or nitrous oxide, expected costs, and diet and medication guidelines for after surgery. The staff operates as a cohesive team allowing for efficient and punctual appointments. Dr. Connelly performed the extractions very quickly. The office scheduled a follow-up for one week later to monitor my healing and give me a chance to ask additional questions. At the follow up, I was again provided with clear care instructions. I am grateful for the treatment I received and highly recommend seeking care at Song Oral Surgery.

I had a good experience throughout the whole process of getting my tooth implant. The staff is friendly, welcoming and professional. In my experience, the doctors/surgeons know what their doing. If I ever have to get another tooth implant, I would choose Song Oral Surgery again.
