About Song Oral Surgery

Song Oral Surgery provides dental care on Geary Boulevard in the Lone Mountain area of San Francisco, California. Wisdom teeth are removed when they are impacted, repeatedly infected, decayed, or damaging the tooth in front, since they arrive last and often into a jaw with no room left. Not every wisdom tooth needs to come out — one that erupts cleanly and can be kept clean is often left alone.

Day-to-day oral health still comes down to the basics between visits — brushing twice daily with fluoride toothpaste, cleaning between the teeth, and limiting how often sugary food and drink appear through the day matters more than the total amount eaten at once. Regular professional care is what catches whatever those habits do not.

Digital X-rays are a routine part of dental care because they show what a visual exam alone cannot — decay forming between teeth, bone loss below the gumline, and how developing adult teeth are positioned in children. They use a low radiation dose and are taken on a schedule matched to individual risk rather than at every single visit.

Left untreated, small dental problems tend not to stay small. A minor cavity that would have been a straightforward filling can progress to needing root canal treatment and a crown, and early gum inflammation that would have reversed with a good cleaning can progress toward bone loss around the teeth. Catching things early is generally the difference in both effort and cost.

Continuity matters in dental care — seeing the same practice over time means your history, X-rays, and any patterns in your oral health are already on file, rather than starting from scratch at each visit. That familiarity is part of what a regular dental home offers beyond any single appointment.

Dental anxiety is common, and most practices are used to working with nervous patients — through clear explanations of what is about to happen, a slower pace where needed, and sedation options for patients who want them. Avoiding the dentist out of anxiety tends to make eventual treatment more involved, not less. This page has the practice's contact details and full service list. What services does Song Oral Surgery offer?
Listed services at Song Oral Surgery include Wisdom Teeth Removal. The full list is shown on this page.
Do wisdom teeth always need to be removed?
No. Wisdom teeth that come through cleanly, in a good position, and can be kept clean are often left alone. Removal is generally advised when they are impacted, repeatedly infected, decayed, or damaging the tooth in front.
Why do wisdom teeth cause problems?
They arrive last, often into a jaw with no room left, so they become impacted or come through at an angle. Partly erupted wisdom teeth are also very difficult to clean, which is why they are prone to repeated infection and decay.
What happens during a routine dental examination?
The dentist checks the teeth for decay, examines the gums, looks at any existing fillings and crowns, and screens the soft tissues. X-rays are taken when there is a reason to look between or beneath teeth.

Great experience getting my wisdom teeth extracted. In-and-out in what felt like 15 minutes. The team made post-op instructions very easy.

I’ve had two great experiences with Song Oral Surgery. The staff is welcoming, professional, and caring. Dr. Connelly and the team provided detailed information on what to expect ahead of time, including how to prepare, options for local anesthesia or nitrous oxide, expected costs, and diet and medication guidelines for after surgery. The staff operates as a cohesive team allowing for efficient and punctual appointments. Dr. Connelly performed the extractions very quickly. The office scheduled a follow-up for one week later to monitor my healing and give me a chance to ask additional questions. At the follow up, I was again provided with clear care instructions. I am grateful for the treatment I received and highly recommend seeking care at Song Oral Surgery.

I had a good experience throughout the whole process of getting my tooth implant. The staff is friendly, welcoming and professional. In my experience, the doctors/surgeons know what their doing. If I ever have to get another tooth implant, I would choose Song Oral Surgery again.

The front desk staff was very welcoming and kind, which helped ease some of the nervousness going into the oral surgery. Was put under and next thing I knew, the operation was over. I felt well taken care of. Big thanks to Dr. Song and his staff!

I recently got oral surgery and I am very happy with the results. If I had to get oral surgery again I would contact this office without hesitation. They have also done a great job with scheduling followup visits to assure my healing process is going according to expectations. Staff were also very friendly and informative. Thank you everyone at the office for helping me through this process.

I’m someone who is very nervous about surgery and any procedure where I go under. I’ve had some bad experiences in the past. I had to have one wisdom tooth removed and I went to Song. The office I went to was the one on Union St. The staff was so great. They did their best to put me at ease and were very empathetic and kind when I was so nervous. I had the best experience possible. They did an incredible job. Post operation, I’ve had very little pain and everything has healed very well. I highly recommend this team if you have to have wisdom teeth out!
