About Sossaman Dental Health Center
Sossaman Dental Health Center provides dental care on South Sossaman Road in the Superstition Springs area of Mesa, Arizona. Sedation dentistry uses inhaled, oral, or intravenous options to help patients relax through treatment, ranging from nitrous oxide for mild anxiety through to deeper sedation for longer or more involved procedures. It is commonly used for patients who have avoided the dentist for years due to fear.
Routine attendance, roughly every six months for most people, is what actually keeps small problems small. A lot of decay and gum disease develops without any pain in its early stages, which is why regular checkups matter even when nothing seems to be wrong, rather than only booking an appointment once something hurts.
A first appointment at a new practice typically covers a full examination, a review of your dental and medical history, and a professional cleaning, with X-rays if you do not have recent ones. It is also a reasonable time to raise any longer-term concerns, cosmetic or otherwise, so they can be factored into a plan going forward.
Day-to-day oral health still comes down to the basics between visits — brushing twice daily with fluoride toothpaste, cleaning between the teeth, and limiting how often sugary food and drink appear through the day matters more than the total amount eaten at once. Regular professional care is what catches whatever those habits do not.
Digital X-rays are a routine part of dental care because they show what a visual exam alone cannot — decay forming between teeth, bone loss below the gumline, and how developing adult teeth are positioned in children. They use a low radiation dose and are taken on a schedule matched to individual risk rather than at every single visit.
Left untreated, small dental problems tend not to stay small. A minor cavity that would have been a straightforward filling can progress to needing root canal treatment and a crown, and early gum inflammation that would have reversed with a good cleaning can progress toward bone loss around the teeth. Catching things early is generally the difference in both effort and cost. This page has the practice's contact details and full service list. Something seriously changed last fall. Without notice, they started doubling what Delta Dental charges, after the service was done. Dr. Justin started rushing through the numbing process and the bridge I had done, the assistant started pulling the temporary crowns off and I had to ask for numbing. Doc rushed through it and I was in terrible pain. After years as their patient, I had to reschedule an appointment because I woke up with the flu. Deana who has been so helpful said she was going to change a cancellation fee of $75. I’ve spent thousands of dollars and even come in when they had cancellations and I reminded her of that, so she said she would do a one time fee waive. I didn’t cancel, I rescheduled. But, to my shock, 3 months later I got a collections notice. When I called she didn’t remember, of course, I’m not their only customer but when she called back she said the computer wouldn’t let her waive the fee like she promised. Considering the amount of money I’ve spent there and the number of people I’ve referred, she should have easily waived the fee. I didn’t cancel, I rescheduled and people wake up sick, it happens, but she was very unyielding and gave me an excuse that the computer wouldn’t let her. They own the practice, or they did and I know the admin can make changes. They change mistakes. There used to be a month waiting list and now you can get in the same day. I loved having the small practice feel where they know your name, but after these last experiences, I may not go back.
I always have such a great experience here. The staff is warm and welcoming, and my dental hygienist Makenzie is truly the best!
I really liked going here but since my last visit they got dogs in the office. I love dogs but I don't want my dentist office to smell like Petsmart! I will not be returning. The smell was so bad.
Always get a second opinion. Got a cleaning which was fine. However, the dentist recommended $3000 worth of cosmetic dental work. I went to my previous dentist in NYC for a second opinion, and he said my teeth did not need it. Be forewarned.
My husband and I use this dentist. There is a pleasant atmosphere in the office. Their try to accommodate our needs and times. We enjoy going to this dentist!!!!
From the front desk to the back-of-the-house, everyone is extremely pleasant and professional. If you have a billing question or clarification, DeAnna is a wealth of knowledge and takes that extra step to ensure you're completely informed about every relevant bit of information requested. Dr. Kirch is super friendly and just a joy with whom to interact. We left our previous dentist because the practice had high staff turnover and had become uncomfortably upsell oriented. SDH&IC tells it like it is, gives a detailed and fair treatment plan and ALWAYS listens to patient feedback. They've earned each of the five stars I've rated and I highly recommend them. I'm grateful to have found them and you will be too.
