I was so afraid of the work I knew I would need, but when I came in to have a consult, the atmosphere and entire team helped me feel at ease! Maria helped me find the best avenues for navigating costs for what my insurance wouldn’t fully cover, including a service called Cherry that allows for payment plans. My doctor and her team of assistants are AMAZING, and the dental hygienists taught me so much for daily care. Never in my life did I ever think I would say I was EXCITED to return for the next stage of my dental care needs, but here I am: I was looking forward to each appointment, knowing I was in good hands. I really cannot gush enough about how incredible my dental health journey has been, and I plan to be a lifelong patient, along with my family, for SURE!

The entire team was wonderful. I had a terrible experience at another office and Dr Knight was able to answer all of my questions and Brandy the Dental Hygienist was kind and patient. I highly recommend.

My experience with South Austin Family Dental was extremely disappointing because of the way I was treated by Cindy at the front desk. She is consistently rude, dismissive, and unprofessional throughout the interaction. Rather than speaking to patients with courtesy and respect, she comes across as confrontational and condescending. One thing that stood out was her habit of addressing adults by their first names in a manner that felt abrupt and disrespectful rather than friendly or professional. Tone and delivery matter, and the way she speaks to me felt more like being than assisted. Instead of answering questions respectfully, she spoke in a condescending manner and acted as though I was an inconvenience for trying to understand my mother's dental care and treatment. Her attitude made it seem as though I should not be asking questions or participating in my mother's care, despite simply trying to advocate for a family member and understand important information. Healthcare offices should welcome questions from patients and their families, especially when someone is helping a loved one navigate treatment decisions. Cindy's lack of professionalism and poor customer service created an uncomfortable and frustrating experience that reflects poorly on the practice as a whole. Respect, empathy, and clear communication should be the standard, and unfortunately that was not what I experienced. I expected basic courtesy and professionalism, especially in a healthcare setting. Front office staff are often the first impression of a business, and unfortunately Cindy's behavior created a negative experience that overshadowed the rest of my experience. I should not feel talked down to, dismissed, or made uncomfortable when seeking dental care which is why we will not patrons of this establishment and "family" should be taken out of your practice.

I honestly don’t understand how this place has good reviews. The way my appointment and insurance were handled was extremely unprofessional. I was called less than 24 hours before my appointment and told I might have to pay out of pocket. After providing all my insurance details, my appointment time was suddenly changed and I was left with unclear answers about whether my cleaning would even be done. When I called to confirm, I was met with confusion and asked if I wanted to cancel instead. As a pregnant patient, this was stressful and disappointing. This is not how a dental office should be run.

Most honest dental office in Austin. Dr. Shelby and one of the hygienists, Crystal, have been my go to for all my dental work and it stopped here. Crystal is super helpful and kind and she always takes my concerns seriously and helps me with any questions I may have. Dr. Knight is really personable and he makes it clear he cares for his patients and always is so welcoming and helpful. 10/10, if you’re looking for a dental office, look no further, this is the one!
