About South Charlotte VA Clinic
South Charlotte VA Clinic is a dental practice on West Tyvola Road in the Eagle Lake area of Charlotte, North Carolina. Emergency dental care covers sudden problems that will not wait for a routine appointment — severe pain, a knocked-out or fractured tooth, swelling, or a lost filling that leaves a tooth exposed. Same-day or urgent appointments are the point of an emergency service, rather than the standard multi-week booking window.
Comprehensive care generally means a practice can handle most of a patient's dental needs in-house — preventive, restorative, and often minor cosmetic or surgical treatment — reducing how often patients are referred elsewhere for routine work.
A filling repairs a tooth after decay has been cleaned out, most often using tooth-coloured composite resin that is shaped and bonded to blend with the surrounding tooth. It is usually completed in a single appointment and is one of the most routine restorative procedures in dentistry.
Tooth Decay Treatment is also among the treatments offered here, and the practice can explain what it involves and whether it fits your situation at a consultation.
General dentistry covers the routine and restorative care most people need most often — examinations, cleanings, fillings, and preventive checks that catch problems while they are still small and inexpensive to treat. Regular attendance, roughly every six months for most patients, is what makes that early-catch approach actually work.
Continuity matters in dental care — seeing the same practice over time means your history, X-rays, and any patterns in your oral health are already on file, rather than starting from scratch at each visit. That familiarity is part of what a regular dental home offers beyond any single appointment.
Dental anxiety is common, and most practices are used to working with nervous patients — through clear explanations of what is about to happen, a slower pace where needed, and sedation options for patients who want them. Avoiding the dentist out of anxiety tends to make eventual treatment more involved, not less. Just retired so I have 21 years of hearing VA horror stories however I'm 2 for 0 as far as having an amazing experience. Thanks to all the great patriots working there!
Well maintained facility. I have never been to a better facility. No crowd during appt. No long waits. Even the pharmacy is great . I have been to at least 6 or more and all of them was overcrowded long waits and pharmacy have to many sitting and waiting. I been waiting for over a year for a CPAP and get to North Carolina and get my CPAP quick less than a month after I complained. Also the staff is great. Great job South Charlotte VA.
I relocated to Charlotte from Miami, and I can honestly say that the Charlotte VA Health Care Center on Tyvola Road has exceeded every expectation I had. Every time I walk through these doors, I am treated with kindness, professionalism, and genuine care. Whether I'm visiting Primary Care, the Eye Clinic, Imaging, Urgent Care, or calling the Sick Call line, the experience is consistently outstanding. A special thank you to the wonderful blonde-haired lady in the Eye Clinic. I didn't catch her name, but she cleaned and adjusted my glasses, got me squared away, and treated me with such kindness that it truly made my day. It's those small acts of compassion that make a big difference. As a veteran dealing with ongoing health issues and chronic pain, there are some things that can't be fixed overnight. However, what stands out to me is that every employee I've encountered does everything in their power to make me feel comfortable, heard, respected, and cared for. That level of customer service and compassion means more than words can express. Moving to a new city can be stressful, especially when you're leaving behind a healthcare system you're familiar with. Charlotte isn't my hometown, and this wasn't my original VA facility, but the staff here have made me feel welcome from day one. To the entire team at the Charlotte VA Health Care Center: thank you for what you do for veterans every single day. Your dedication does not go unnoticed. If you're a veteran in the Charlotte area, especially if you've recently relocated like I did, I highly recommend this facility. You'll be treated with dignity, respect, and genuine concern for your well-being. Thank you for taking care of those who served.
Well run facility! Recent experience with Urgent Care was excellent. Reception staff Bill attentive, friendly and efficient. Nurse Melissa and PA Jeff very professional, interested, and caring. Means alot to an old vet. Thank you.
If you're a veteran you probably know this place. If you haven't been then you owe it to yourself to go. From start to finish they treat you with the courtesy and respect you have earned. Honestly I can't find anything to complain about.
This facility has really made some improvements in the last few years. I've noticed the staff and receptionist seem to be more energetic and helpful, which has not always been the case. Keep up the great work, helping those who served.
Showed up early for an appointment and they got me right in and removed the stitches and had me on my way in minutes! Professional, courteous, and respectful. God Bless
The worse experience I’ve had at any VA facility across the last few months of being in this area. They drop the ball A LOT. I’ve been told several times by different departments I’ll get call backs from doctors or nurses - never happens. Prescriptions I was told would be put in didn’t happen until I went to a patient advocate. Even then, it wasn’t rectified. The front desk people call you then get an attitude because the lack of communication on their end. I’ll start driving an hour plus out the way before I continue to be see here. When it comes to your health and wellbeing, they do not care.
