The dentist and hygienists were nice, but the billing and communication was so bad I won’t be going back ever again. My initial call when booking was asking if they were in network before scheduling an appointment. They said they were and I said ok because I want to make sure this routine visit is fully covered at no cost. They said yes. I go and to my surprise in February I owed a $49 copay. I was very upset as it’s supposed to be $0. I called and spoke to their manager at that time a few days later who said she’d call back and speak to the owner. I wasn’t ever called back. I said whatever and moved on after no call back as it didn’t sit well with me they didn’t fix this given their staff told me incorrect information costing me money I could have not spent at another provider. This was your first sign something was wrong I owed money and shouldn’t have but instead of trying to resolve it, I didn’t get a call back and had to eat money I supposedly didn’t owe. I get an email 4 months later from my insurance company saying that this office submitted the claim to my insurance and it’s out of network and I owed over $200 more. For a fully covered routine service. Why was my claim being submitted 4 months later? I could not tell you. You told me it was submitted twice (half of the billed amount each time paying it off) which was false, I just checked my claims and the only one claim was submitted in their records which was only a few weeks ago in June and only paid half the billed amount saying I incorrectly owe the rest, nothing prior to this, so I am still getting incorrect info that’s very unsettling. I call and they assure me they are straightening it out with my insurance provider to call back a few weeks later. I do and get told there is a credit back to me? The staff member tells me to call my insurance that it appears to be resolved (contrary to what my claim is stating). Cigna tells me that it’s not resolved and the dentist I saw was NOT in their network in a contract until 2 weeks later after my appointment so he was not in network at the time I had my cleaning and X-rays. Again, I call your office back to relay this information to be met with attitude (mind you they’ve put me through so much just to get a routine cleaning and xrays) and they now tell me I’m not getting a credit that it was incorrect and someone will call me back. I call again as I didn’t get a call back and now am told I am getting a credit (again?) and an office manager would call me because my insurance is giving a very different story about this being resolved. Didn’t get that call back either. My insurance is saying this is NOT resolved they only paid half what you billed, and even worse the communication with your office has been unacceptable. All I wanted was a simple cleaning and X-rays I do twice a year, did the right thing checking you’re in network to then be put through all this mess and stress and met with attitude on top of all this. Such a bad experience. My other dentists never have had these issues. The billing and front staff and their miscommunications have ruined my experience and it’s unacceptable how I’ve been treated. I don’t trust what they say anymore as I get something different every time I call which makes me really nervous. If I ever get another surprise bill I have text receipts I was told I was in network by your office before even making an appointment and will not be paying another cent for your mistakes and I’d report this with text proof for misleading patients. Your office needs to figure out what’s going on with the communication and misinformation. I’ve never experienced anything like this. It was terrible experience for such a simple visit and things still aren’t adding up to this day and nobody is bothering to call me back. *To your response, you mean call the team that still hasn’t called me back? Cigna has a case number and will be in contact with you given your staff still has incorrect info/this is not resolved. The fact I have to be the one calling Cigna to contact you for your mistake is ridiculous.

I came in for a crown replacement for a broken crown that wasn’t even 2 years old (done at another dentist). Dr. Mark immediately knew why the crown cracked, and completely redid the prep for the crown (I don’t know the medical terminology). I just got my permanent crown put in today and my bite is back to normal and the color matches my teeth perfectly. Dr Mark is extremely knowledgeable and the staff (my dental assistant… unsure his name but he was amazing too) were all super friendly. They’re also extremely punctual and take the appt times seriously. I couldn’t recommend Dr. Mark and his team enough.

I chose this office based on the positive online reviews, but unfortunately my experience was very disappointing. During my cleaning, the hygienist repeatedly poked the roof of my mouth with dental instruments, which was uncomfortable and painful. She also skipped cleaning and flossing my back teeth, stating that they were “too difficult to reach,” and did not floss any of my bottom teeth. I have never experienced such an incomplete cleaning at a dental office. Overall, I was very dissatisfied with the quality of care I received and would not recommend this practice based on my experience

My whole family have been patients there for years and we raved about this place until recently being acquired by another company. The whole front office is a mess when it comes to scheduling, billing and the quality of customer service. I don’t know if they’re unhappy since this recent transition, but they have a horrible attitude and horrendous follow up. My family and I will be looking for a new place.

I hate the dentist but when I come to South Tampa Dentistry they ALWAYS make me feel at home and are truly genuine staff. From the receptionist, to the dental hygienist and the Doctor they work very well as a team. Dental hygienist Jamie went above and beyond to ensure I understood everything, and I really appreciated it because most places won’t take the time. Doctor Mark was great, per usual. The following visit a had a teeth cleaning with dental hygienist Nicki and she was absolutely amazing it was the most painless teeth cleaning I've gotten in my life. If you are looking for a dentist's office that does a great job look no further this place is a 10/10.

Everyone at this office is extremely kind, positive, and pleasant. I have a lot of dental anxiety and Dr. Mark has been absolutely wonderful! Would recommend to anyone looking for a dentist in the area

I had been going to a dentist down the street for about a year, and I dreaded going to my appointments so much, not because I don’t like going to the dentist, but because I felt like I was being cornered and pressured into services every single time I went there. It was the most uncomfortable experience. So, when my next exam & cleaning were due, I decided it was time to find a new dentist. I searched for dentists in South Tampa, and South Tampa Dentistry popped up. They had a perfect rating, just like the last dentist, but one review stood out to me. The reviewer mentioned how they didn’t feel pressured into services they were not interested in, and after reading that, I was ready to book! I saw that Dr. McCaughey had an appointment available, so I looked over his bio real quick and was pleased to read that he’s from Iowa, because my dad was also from Iowa. I had my first visit with Dr. McCaughey back in October, and I felt so incredibly comfortable with him! My two front teeth were slightly uneven, and I asked him if he could give me a quote to have them filed and evened out. He took a look and said, “I can do that for you real quick.” I seriously wanted to cry! The last doctor quoted $600 to file them down, and Dr. McCaughey did it as a courtesy. I was so touched by that; I knew right then and there I was never going to another dentist, and I’d refer anyone looking for a dentist to him! I checked out with Cayln, who was the absolute sweetest! She took the time to go over their whitening kits (which I will be going back for!) and was just so pleasant to talk to. Oh and I love the dental hygienist who cleans my teeth; her chair is the last one in the back on the left, I believe her name is Yani. She’s wonderful! I’ve had three visits since October, and I’ve looked forward to every single one. The energy in their office is incredible; you can just tell they are passionate about what they do and are so dedicated to making their patients’ experience a positive one. So, yeah, they get a 10 out of 10 from me!! :)

South Tampa Dentistry has been a breath of fresh air. From the moment I walked in, everything felt straightforward and honest. They took the time to explain exactly what I needed, why I needed it, and what could wait. There were no pressure tactics and no unnecessary recommendations, just clear and genuine guidance. Their evaluation felt accurate and trustworthy, and the quality of their work speaks for itself. You can tell they put real care and attention into every part of the process and they focus on what is truly best for the patient. If you want a dental office that is honest, thorough, and committed to delivering great results, South Tampa Dentistry is absolutely worth it.

A special shout-out to hygienist Nikki. She’s been my usual hygienist for some time now and never disappoints. With her caring attitude, expertise and warm, conversational manner, she turns the dental cleaning into a genuinely pleasant experience. She takes the time to explain what she’s doing, answers my questions thoughtfully, and makes sure I’m comfortable the entire time. And of course, Dr. Wyatt deserves a big thank-you too. He’s professional, personable, and always takes the time to ensure everything is done with care and precision. It’s clear he truly values his patients and the amazing team around him. The entire office feels welcoming and up-to-date. It’s clean, tidy, and efficient, with an atmosphere that’s both relaxed and professional. It’s clear they’ve created an environment where patients feel at ease, and that makes such a difference.
