About South Tampa Pediatric Dentistry
South Tampa Pediatric Dentistry provides dental care on Henderson Boulevard in the South Tampa area of Tampa, Florida. Pediatric dental care is built around treating children specifically — dentists with additional training in child development and behaviour management, and offices designed to make a first visit unintimidating. Guidance generally points to a child's first dental visit around age one or within six months of the first tooth.
Day-to-day oral health still comes down to the basics between visits — brushing twice daily with fluoride toothpaste, cleaning between the teeth, and limiting how often sugary food and drink appear through the day matters more than the total amount eaten at once. Regular professional care is what catches whatever those habits do not.
Digital X-rays are a routine part of dental care because they show what a visual exam alone cannot — decay forming between teeth, bone loss below the gumline, and how developing adult teeth are positioned in children. They use a low radiation dose and are taken on a schedule matched to individual risk rather than at every single visit.
Left untreated, small dental problems tend not to stay small. A minor cavity that would have been a straightforward filling can progress to needing root canal treatment and a crown, and early gum inflammation that would have reversed with a good cleaning can progress toward bone loss around the teeth. Catching things early is generally the difference in both effort and cost.
Continuity matters in dental care — seeing the same practice over time means your history, X-rays, and any patterns in your oral health are already on file, rather than starting from scratch at each visit. That familiarity is part of what a regular dental home offers beyond any single appointment.
Dental anxiety is common, and most practices are used to working with nervous patients — through clear explanations of what is about to happen, a slower pace where needed, and sedation options for patients who want them. Avoiding the dentist out of anxiety tends to make eventual treatment more involved, not less. My daughter has been going here for 6 years. Staff is always friendly and very informative. I moved 30 minutes away and still travel to south Tampa pediatric dentistry because of the great service.
Wonderful practice! They have taken care of my kids since they were babies. Love them!

Excellent Dentist
My children and I are always so impressed with Dr Rudolph and her assistants. My son is very comfortable with all the staff. Thank you for always making my kids feel like family.
If I could give Dr. Rudolph more stars I would!! I’ve been going to her since 2011 and she is the only dentist I’ve ever had. The office, waiting area and exam rooms are always very clean and welcoming. There are TV’s at each seat to help keep you calm. Also, the staff is very well-mannered, kind, understanding and cooperative. (Note For Disabled Patients) I have struggled with developmental, cognitive and physical disabilities all my life. Number #1 being ASD-1, going to doctors and specialists have always been quite challenging for me at times. Especially when there is too much sensory stimulation involved. Dr. Rudolph has made sure that I’m comfortable and allows breaks if needed. She is also well educated on disabilities like MCAS, Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome and PoTS. Overall I would give Dr. Rudolph and her team ♾️/10 P.S they have a cute dog named Doberge. So ADORABLE 🐾
We love Dr Rudolph! She is great with my kids even if they are being difficult. She is calm and sweet and efficient! Highly recommend
After several visits, my son was finally comfortable allowing Dr. Rudolph to get plaque off his teeth and take X-Rays. The only other time he had Xrays was when he had to put under anesthesia so this was a big step for both. Her staff is very patient and kind. Highly recommend if you have a child that is defensive about anything going near the mouth or has autism!
Long before my son was born, I saw Dr. Rudolph’s office while driving around Tampa and thought “if I ever have a child, that’s where we will go”. Here we are, a decade later, and today my 18 month old had his first visit! It was everything I knew it would be, and more! The waiting room is full of plush Rudolph’s in every size and little video games that were so exciting for my son to try out! The receptionists were kind & lovely and the hygienists were fabulous at making his cleaning fun and he was involved in every step! Dr. Rudolph was wonderful and examined his mouth in a way that was gentle and effective. I was so happy with the whole experience and I am grateful to have a dentist that can help my son develop a healthy and happy relationship with oral health. I am so glad I always knew this place would be our place and excited to visit again in the future.
