About Southeastern PA Oral Surgery

Southeastern PA Oral Surgery operates on East Allegheny Avenue in the North Philadelphia area of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Oral surgery covers procedures beyond routine treatment — surgical extractions including impacted wisdom teeth, implant placement, and bone grafting among the more common ones. The distinguishing feature is generally that tissue is opened and closed as part of the procedure, rather than treated at the surface.

Payment and insurance arrangements vary by practice and by treatment, so it is worth asking directly what is covered and what options exist for anything that is not, rather than assuming either way. Getting that clarified before treatment starts avoids surprises once it is underway.

Beyond any single treatment, most dental visits start with an examination — checking for decay, reviewing the gums, and looking at existing fillings or crowns — often alongside X-rays where there is a reason to look between or beneath teeth. That groundwork is what a dentist uses to explain any findings and set out next steps before you leave.

Routine attendance, roughly every six months for most people, is what actually keeps small problems small. A lot of decay and gum disease develops without any pain in its early stages, which is why regular checkups matter even when nothing seems to be wrong, rather than only booking an appointment once something hurts.

A first appointment at a new practice typically covers a full examination, a review of your dental and medical history, and a professional cleaning, with X-rays if you do not have recent ones. It is also a reasonable time to raise any longer-term concerns, cosmetic or otherwise, so they can be factored into a plan going forward.

Day-to-day oral health still comes down to the basics between visits — brushing twice daily with fluoride toothpaste, cleaning between the teeth, and limiting how often sugary food and drink appear through the day matters more than the total amount eaten at once. Regular professional care is what catches whatever those habits do not. Absolutely AMAZING!!!!! yes, they take over an hour to call you even with an appointment but it’s well worth the wait. I am one who’s terrified of the dentist because of Prior experience. But my first apt for a consultation they all were very kind and patient with me. I even had issues with my insurance and they kept me updated with it along the way. Then to the actual appointment where my wisdom tooth was being pulled Dr. Mittie was 10 stars ⭐️! A+!!!! Absolutely no pain whatsoever and barely any pressure .. It was out in about 6 minutes. Thank you for understanding my fear and anxiety Dr. Mittie!

Easy and fast scheduling for immediate service. The waiting room time is about 1hr from appointment time so be patient. The waiting room has a TV to watch. Staff is friendly. The 1st appointment is consultation only. The 2nd appointment I got a extraction. The procedure was painless and sanitary. The dentist are thorough with explaining the procedure and recovery process. I recommend them for friends and family. I would return.

I had an oral consultation at 1pm. There were people coming in after me that were being seen before me. It was 3pm, I decided to approach the front desk. I wanted to be at least considerate to let them know I would be canceling instead of just leaving. I told the front staff lady to cancel my appointment because my son had to be picked up shortly. She stated I was next and I stated I can't wait any longer. I mean it's a consultation, I'm not getting any extractions, receiving anesthesia, etc. She said okay sarcastically and didn't say nothing else like it was the norm for this to happen on a regular basis. There was no apology or any type of good customer service. I wouldn't recommend at all!

I went for a consultation, and the next day I was able to get my two top wisdom teeth pulled out. The process was fast, and I’m glad I didn’t feel any pain during the procedure. My pain has been manageable since the extraction, and I’m really happy about that. The only downside was the long wait time in the waiting room, but other than that, the staff was very nice and the procedure was done quickly and smoothly.

Number one it took these people a whole month to get me an ointment for consultation. Then another month damn near the get the teeth pulled the day I went. They wouldn’t pull them due to bp was buggy from pain and anxiety. I sat for days in pain waiting to get another dentist. I found one down center city that pulled my teeth with no problem. My pressure was a lil high but they gave me something to help and proceed. The place was dirty. If I could give 0 stars I would.no compassion.
