About Southern California Oral & Maxillofacial Surgical Arts
Southern California Oral & Maxillofacial Surgical Arts is a dental practice on Ventura Boulevard in the Calabasas (adjacent) area of Calabasas, California. Wisdom teeth are removed when they are impacted, repeatedly infected, decayed, or damaging the tooth in front, since they arrive last and often into a jaw with no room left. Not every wisdom tooth needs to come out — one that erupts cleanly and can be kept clean is often left alone.
Beyond any single treatment, most dental visits start with an examination — checking for decay, reviewing the gums, and looking at existing fillings or crowns — often alongside X-rays where there is a reason to look between or beneath teeth. That groundwork is what a dentist uses to explain any findings and set out next steps before you leave.
Routine attendance, roughly every six months for most people, is what actually keeps small problems small. A lot of decay and gum disease develops without any pain in its early stages, which is why regular checkups matter even when nothing seems to be wrong, rather than only booking an appointment once something hurts.
A first appointment at a new practice typically covers a full examination, a review of your dental and medical history, and a professional cleaning, with X-rays if you do not have recent ones. It is also a reasonable time to raise any longer-term concerns, cosmetic or otherwise, so they can be factored into a plan going forward.
Day-to-day oral health still comes down to the basics between visits — brushing twice daily with fluoride toothpaste, cleaning between the teeth, and limiting how often sugary food and drink appear through the day matters more than the total amount eaten at once. Regular professional care is what catches whatever those habits do not. I’m Dr. Jeffrey Gradinger DDS. Where do dentists go for dentistry. Being a general dentist for 45 years, I’ve met and referred to many oral surgeons, but the number one surgeon I’d want working on me is Dr. Rennie Chueng. His knowledge and techniques I know are cutting edge. His expertise is unequaled. He and his staff are the kindest, friendliest, and most caring team I could ask for. More than that…. PAINLESS!!! Thank you Rennie.
I have only extraordinary things to say about Dr. Rennie Chang and his staff. They are extremely compassionate. They really do care about how you feel and they do everything in their power to make you comfortable. Dr. Chang is a magician and an expert at what he does. All of the procedures I have had have been painless and perfect. I recommend Dr Cheung to anyone who is in need of dental care. I do not believe their is a finer dentist than Dr Rennie Cheung. And his wonderful sense of humor can put anyone at ease!
Beautiful, relaxing office that put me at ease. Dr. Cheung was a lot of fun. He did a great job. I'm a ninny when it comes to dental work and it never came to that. I was a little sore last night after waking up from my post op nap, but this morning there is very little discomfort. The post operative instructions are clear and all medicine was provided before I left the office. He even personally called to check up on how I was doing.
Excellent! Over a couple of visits I had a molar pulled, healed, implant started and did not need to be put “ under” either time. Very specific in his work and gentle. Great crew that runs the office and gets you all set up. I highly recommend. You will be happy when you are done.
