I’ve had a mixed experience with this practice since my first appointment in Dec of 2025. I wish conversation about payment amount were more transparent. You are expected to pay the insurers portion and your portion. If insurance pays their portion you will be refunded. I wasn’t informed this until a week before my appointment and the expected payment nearly doubled on finding out that information. I wish the communication between me and the practitioner wasn’t so tense. Especially when, I had to be taking money out of my savings to afford the work being done so I tried to be calculated with my appointment booking. I’ve been thrown off since the end of my first appointment and they said “Then after we start start fixing that smile” I do not believe in shame/inspiring insecurity as a sales tactic as I didn’t mention anything about my smile. It was very hard to speak to her about anything that wasn’t related to getting me booked for treatments as soon as possible. Even when I had a concern about a crack in my tooth the conversation was rushed, dismissive, and circled back to booking me for restorative treatments. The AI companion was difficult to work with in the past but it looks like the reception staff has gotten more help in the past months. I communicated with the practice via email while having issues with the previous AI machine. Unfortunately, this did not prove to be effective as not all details were passed on to the main practitioner. This caused friction in conversation which added to the lack of empathy I was already feeling from the practice. I have found another practice and after picking up my mouth guard today it seems like Spa Dental has gotten more help which will likely prevent situations like mine in the future.

I was a patient here for years and everything had been fine. But everything went downhill this year. The grinding nightgaurd I bought from them broke after almost 1 year, instead of the 5 years it’s supposed to last (I treated it well, but it fell just from the bed to the floor one time, and cracked in half). Had to pay full price for a second one. At my cleaning in January they said two of my old childhood fillings needed to be replaced. I had no pain or discomfort with them at all, but I went along with it. Immediately after they redid the filling on my molar, it started hurting a lot, and it just got worse and worse. I went back in several times and begged them to fix it, they said it wasn’t caused by the filling, but of course it was. It started immediately after the filling, on a tooth that had no preexisting pain. They shaved it down several times and it started to hurt even more. They redid the filling and it still hurt. They even tried saying it could be my body reacting to my recent hip surgery (I did not glorify that with a response). After months of pain, I went to an endodontist and had a root canal. Now the tooth is less painful but the jaw, gums, and nerves in that part of my face still hurt from the repeated dental work. So because they did something during the filling that caused pain, I had to spend hundreds and hundreds of dollars on further treatment and spend 6 months (so far) in a lot of pain. During all this I was repeatedly trying to contact them for help and follow-ups, but they switched to an AI-call bot that refuses to connect you to a real person. It’s horrible, dehumanizing, insulting, and ineffective. It makes it impossible to communicate with them, when I needed to communicate with them most. At the same time, they over billed me by at least $40, and admitted it to me several times. Rather than refund my card, they said they would write a check for me to pick up. I called and told them I’m never going back there, so to mail me the check. They said they would weeks ago, and I still haven’t gotten the check, 5 months after they overbilled. Of course, after the root canal, I chose a new dentist for my crown. I asked SPA dental to send my dental records to the new dentist, and they said I had to pay a $20+ service fee for that. I snapped at them, saying that after months of pain and paying a fortune to correct their bad filling, and their bad communication, and the fact that they still owed me money, that had the audacity to nickel and dime me for $20 to get my own records. They have ghosted me since then. Not responding to my 10+ follow up emails, and not producing my records. By HIPAA, they are permitted to charge a records fee, but they don’t have to, and they also cannot refuse records, even if the patient has outstanding charges. I’ll add that they love to tack on like a $20-$40 “lab fee” for nearly every service, and it isn’t charged to or covered by insurance. My other dentists have never done this. To summarize, they screwed up my tooth and cost me a fortune and months of severe pain. They switched to an AI contact service and became difficult, if not impossible to contact. And they refuse to release my dental records to me, even after all the money I have paid them. Don’t go here. I could have saved myself a lot of pain, time, and money, by just not getting my cleaning with them, or refusing to let them redo my cavity. And SPA if you are reading this, GIVE ME MY DENTAL RECORDS

I will refer everyone I know to this office. The atmosphere was extremely welcoming, EVERYONE was so professional, I was/am really impressed. Natalie assisted me greatly in having me seen on the same day as well as providing additional information. Thanks to ALL of the staff at SpaDental, the dentist (Leslie) and his assistant made sure I was comfortable and the procedure was completed without any pain!! I used to love coming to Spa Dental Group DC, but it seems like every dentist has left the practice. I made an appointment in February and was told I needed to have a crown replaced. They insisted I pay half for the service to book (over $400.) I had to cancel for work travel and told them I would reschedule once I returned. It has been two months and I can never reach a front desk member. Instead, I have to coordinate with an AI software that takes my messages to no avail. It's so hard finding a good dentist, but I guess the search continues.

Do not go here! The staff is wildly incompetent, the DAs are inexperienced and on short term contracts, my assistant banged around in my teeth and only cleaned half of them. The Dentist came in, looked at my teeth for five seconds, said they’re clean, and then immediately pitched me on Invisalign and how my mouth is the worst case she’s ever seen (after saying my teeth and mouth are fine), and pitched Invisalign like a timeshare and not as a trusted medical professional. I was told my insurance would cover fluoride and that i wouldn’t be charged (I was).I had heard that the quality had gone downhill and I had to see for myself. When people leave their appointments and say they’re never coming back, believe them! I wasn’t a patient, I was dollar signs. Update: They will claim that anyone who leaves a negative review cannot be found in their files, but my records and proof of insurance records will say otherwise. Lies and manipulation in full view. Update 2: For an organization that claims to not have me on file, why do I get texts saying I should reschedule for an appointment? Another lie. Update 3: Instead of an apology, they are claiming that I created this image through AI. Folks, all of this could have been avoided if there was a simple apology, but instead lies and slander have occurred. Why continue this? Because the public have a right to know the quality of those sticking metal in your mouth. I’ll take this whole review down if they reach out and apologize, which they would have to admit they have my information and I was on file with them.

My visit was easy and comfortable. I really like the ambiance here. Everyone is very nice and friendly.

Two of my teeth were chipped, expressed my concerns to Dr. Jama and a plan was made from there. After 6 months of wearing invisalign, I went in today to have the temporary veneers placed. Everything looks so natural and the staff definitely made me feel more confident in my smile before leaving!

Office was great and located locally in D.C. One thing i enjoyed the most was the dental assistant Brenda. She's very professional, nice and sweet. If you book an appointment make sure you ask for Brenda. She'll make sure she takes care of you. She explains everything with detail and answers all your questions. Doctor was nice also. I'm coming back for my cleaning in 6months : )

100/10 Dr. Jama and Brenda were amazing! I have had a fear of the dentist since I was a kid but Brenda was extremely patient and gentle. She made sure I felt comfortable and I really appreciated that. She was very professional and it didn’t seem rushed at all! I highly recommend going here!

I was not having the best of days when I came into the office.. my energy was completely off. However, JaQuay turned my day.. my mood.. completely around! She is the most genuinely kind spirited person I’ve encountered. And I hate the dentist lol she was pleasant informative and reassuring. I will be back and tell everyone to come there soley because of her.

I had an amazing experience at SPA Dental - everyone was very nice and had a calming spirit. The vibe is very relaxing. The Dr. was gentle and very reassuring. And let’s not forget about the star in the office - and no it’s not the Dr. It’s actually her second in command- Ray. She knows her stuff and she keeps the doctor moving. She knew what the doctor needed before the Dr even asked. Gotta love a mind reader. Ray explained all the treatment to me before the Dr came in. She stayed by my side the whole time. She is so sweet. Good assistant are hard to find and you all found a diamond. Dr. Jama and Ray are the dynamic duo!!!!!

I had an amazing visit!! Ray was wonderful during my visit! She was very friendly, professional, and made me feel comfortable the entire time. She explained everything clearly and made sure I understood the process before starting. It’s not always easy going to the dentist but her positive attitude and care made the experience much better. I highly recommend this office!!
