About Spicer Road Dental Practice Exeter
Spicer Road Dental Practice Exeter provides dental care on Spicer Road in Exeter, England. Implants are considered by many dentists the most durable way to replace a missing tooth, since the titanium post fuses with the jaw bone over several months and then supports a crown that functions much like a natural tooth. Enough healthy bone is the main prerequisite, and a graft can build that up first if needed.
A veneer is a thin custom shell bonded to the front of a tooth to change its shape, length, or colour, most often used to address chips, gaps, or discoloration that whitening alone cannot fix. Traditional veneers require a small amount of enamel to be removed, which makes the change permanent.
Cosmetic treatment is generally the least invasive branch of dentistry, built around changing how teeth look rather than fixing something broken. Whitening and bonding sit at the lighter end; veneers and reshaping involve more planning. Most cosmetic dental insurance excludes this kind of work, since it is elective rather than medically necessary.
Root canal treatment removes infected or inflamed tissue from inside a tooth, cleans and seals the space, and allows the natural tooth to be kept rather than extracted. Its reputation for being painful is largely outdated — carried out under local anaesthetic, it typically relieves pain rather than causing it.
Emergency dental care covers sudden problems that will not wait for a routine appointment — severe pain, a knocked-out or fractured tooth, swelling, or a lost filling that leaves a tooth exposed. Same-day or urgent appointments are the point of an emergency service, rather than the standard multi-week booking window.
A crown covers an entire damaged tooth — used when too much structure is missing for a filling to hold reliably, whether from a large fracture, extensive decay, or after root canal treatment. It restores both the shape and the biting strength of the tooth underneath. Courteous and helpful
As always very pleasant and helpful.
After spending years terrified of the dentist and having awful anxiety after a few previous bad experiences in the past, I joined Spicer Road last year off of lots of local recommendations. From the first appointment everything was great. The reception team are so helpful and friendly, and my dentist is just amazing. Everyone at the practise is kind and friendly. I’m never anxious about going anymore, and my dentist has been so supportive and informative throughout any treatment or treatment plans. Thank you all ❤️
I pay a monthly fee for my treatment through Denplan, so I expect a reasonable level of care and understanding from this practice. I travelled from Taunton to Exeter for back-to-back appointments for myself (8:30am) and my 1-year-old daughter (8:50am). Due to heavy school-time traffic and the central Exeter location, we arrived 9 minutes late. I fully accepted that I had missed my own appointment. However, we were still within my daughter’s appointment window, with around 11 minutes remaining. After over an hour in the car with a young child, I was hopeful they might still see her, even briefly. Unfortunately, the receptionist showed no empathy and was quite firm in saying that another patient had already been taken in and the dentist’s schedule was full. What was particularly frustrating is that our appointment slot had effectively been given away, despite us arriving within it. I would have appreciated even a small degree of flexibility or understanding, especially given the circumstances. By this point I was quite upset, having rushed from parking and feeling stressed about being late, which I genuinely try hard to avoid. The lack of compassion in how this was handled was disappointing. I have since decided not to continue with this practice. It feels at odds with the message on their website, which describes a “friendly” and “sympathetic” environment with staff who are “always happy to help and put you at ease.”
My husband and I, as new patients, have just had our first visit to Spicer Road Dental Practice. The staff are very professional, efficient and thoughtful. We were both appreciative of the time taken to explain the options available to us for our ongoing care and very happy with our decision to register at the practice.
Everyone at the surgery were so welcoming and my dentist, Hannah, spent time finding out about my dental history. She also examined and x-rayed my teeth and gums and then explained the best next steps for me. I felt extremely well supported and I would thoroughly recommend this dental practice.
Explained the procedure in detail Checked I was comfortable throughout the procedure, I am a very nervous patient, felt fine and was not worried. Thank you Lawrence Everybody is very friendly at the practice, especially Sarah the receptionist, who a great listener. I have been at this practice for a very long time highly recommend them.
