Ask an implant patient at 606 Sumner Avenue how they ended up here and the answer tends to run the same course. A tooth was filled, then filled again, then crowned, then re-treated, until an ordinary checkup ended with the word extraction. Springfield Dental does a good deal of that work, and most of it starts from a tooth that has already had three or four chances.

The procedure itself is unhurried by design. Where the natural root used to sit, a titanium screw goes into the jaw; bone then knits onto it over a three-to-six-month stretch, and the crown is fitted only once that has happened. The waiting is not administrative delay; it is the part that makes the implant hold. Nothing about scheduling shortens it.

The decision in front of you is rarely implant or nothing. It is implant against bridge against partial denture. A bridge is quicker and cheaper up front, but it means cutting down the healthy teeth on either side of the gap to carry it. An implant leaves those alone and loads the jawbone directly, which is why it tends to last longer, cost more, and take a calendar year's patience, and why it only works where there is bone to anchor into. If the ridge has already thinned, grafting or a sinus lift comes first and adds months before the post is placed at all.

Dr. Saikiran Bahadur leads the clinical side and lists memberships with national implant dentistry and general dentistry academies. The rest of the treatment list is ordinary general practice done in the same building: root canals, crowns, veneers, extractions, dentures, clear aligners and children's dentistry. A household does not have to split routine care and surgical care between two offices.

Sumner Avenue is a residential run through Forest Park toward the X, which makes this office easy from the south side or the Longmeadow line and awkward if you work downtown and want a lunchtime slot. Weekday hours are nine to five with nothing on evenings or weekends, but same-day emergency appointments are offered and walk-ins are accepted, so a molar that cracks on a Tuesday morning is a phone call rather than a week of waiting. Ask for the treatment plan in writing at the consultation. Two implant quotes only compare when both spell out whether grafting, the abutment and the final crown sit inside the number, and the front desk is the place to confirm which insurance plans the practice currently participates in.

Frequently Asked Questions

How long does a dental implant take here from start to finish?
Plan on months rather than weeks. After the post is placed, the jawbone needs roughly three to six months to fuse to its surface before the abutment and crown are attached. If the failing tooth still has to come out first, or the site needs a bone graft or sinus lift, add healing time for those stages too. Straightforward single-tooth cases move faster than full-arch work, and your written plan should state the expected sequence.
Can I be seen the same day for a dental emergency?
Yes. The practice offers same-day emergency appointments and accepts walk-ins at the Sumner Avenue office during weekday hours, which run nine to five Monday through Friday. Call before you drive over so the front desk knows what has happened and can slot you between scheduled patients. Describe the symptom plainly, because swelling, bleeding and a tooth loosened by impact are triaged differently from a lost filling.
Why do two implant quotes for the same tooth differ so much?
Usually because they cover different things. One figure may name only the post in the bone, while another includes the abutment, the crown and the imaging. Grafting is the item most often quoted separately, and whether you need it depends on how much bone remains where the tooth sat. Ask for an itemised plan that names each stage, then compare the totals rather than the headline numbers.

Dr b did my root canal and did an amazing job. Best dentist I’ve ever been to. I’ve been to a few in the past few years alone and they all were either too expensive or hurt me or both but this one didn’t cause me any pain whatsoever so ever. I have mass health now so that helped a lot too I’m sure but it was quick and painless procedure easier than having fillings done when I was a kid at Kool smiles before they close. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS LOCATION. I was referred here by their sister company star dental and they all did fantastic. Let alone the staff being helpful and friendly even let me in early when they didn’t open till 9. I Will be returning and will no longer need a new dentist. Very pleased with there work I can say the only thing I didn’t appreciate was them hawking me to come in early since they had a cancellation and someone came after me and got called first. Where’s the logic in that.

This place is horrible, instruments were out in the open my cleaning was horrible I wasn’t even laid down for the cleaning I was sitting the entire time until the doctor came in. Afterwards my teeth did not have that polished clean feeling. The place was dirty , the instruments were out in the open. They were supposed to call me back with an estimate for another procedure and they never did which is a blessing in disguise I will never go there again! Beware!

I went there for an infection which they gave me amoxicillin for. I took the whole script and still had severe tooth pain so I went back and instead of taking an x-ray they asked if I wanted my tooth pulled so of course I said yes and thought I would be all set. Nope I have a swollen cheek due to the infection being in my jaw which needed a stronger antibiotic and now I have to go back instead of just giving me the damn antibiotic. I swear if he tries to say its dry socket which this isn't even close thank God. Im sorry but this place really needs to treat patients accordingly and learn how to handle infections appropriately because now I have a worse infection when the day he pulled my tooth should have just gave me a stronger antibiotic.

Just had my first root canal here for a pre-molar tooth a couple of weeks ago. It was painless and took about 30 mins. Came in for the crown prep the following day in which they also put on a temporary crown until my permanent crown came. Just had the permanent crown cemented a few days ago and have experienced no pain or discomfort from it. Feels like I have a brand new tooth in place now.
