About Springfield Periodontics and Dental Implants

Springfield's southwest quadrant carries much of the city's specialist care, and 2025 West Iles Avenue sits along that corridor between Chatham Road and Veterans Parkway. For patients driving in from Chatham, Auburn, Pawnee or Rochester, that means reaching the office without crossing downtown or the traffic around the Capitol Complex, and there is parking on site rather than a garage to find. The hours are front-loaded and worth checking before you plan a day around them: 8 a.m. starts every day the office is open, finishing at 4 on Monday, 3:30 on Tuesday, and 2 on Wednesday and Thursday, with Fridays closed. Surgical appointments generally land in the morning, which is when most people would rather have them anyway.

Dr. Ravichandra Juluri practices the full scope of periodontics: gum disease management, gum grafting, cosmetic periodontal surgery, bone grafting, dental implants and implant-supported overdentures. The office also places ceramic implants, which are worth understanding rather than simply requesting. Most implants are titanium; zirconia is a ceramic alternative with no metal component, so nothing grey shows through when gum tissue is thin or recedes later, and some patients choose it over concerns about metal in the body. It is not automatically the better option. Zirconia carries a shorter clinical track record, comes in fewer diameters and lengths, and one-piece designs leave a surgeon less room to correct an awkward implant angle when the restoration is made.

Implant-supported overdentures address a different problem: a conventional denture rests on the gum ridge, relies on suction, lifts when you chew, and lets the ridge slowly resorb underneath it. An overdenture snaps onto attachments carried by implants set into the jaw, which anchors it and restores far more biting force while still coming out for cleaning at night. How many implants an arch needs comes down to bone height and shape, which a scan settles and a phone call cannot. Most patients here arrive on referral and return to their own dentist for cleanings, fillings and the crown or bridge that eventually sits on the implant.

Frequently Asked Questions

What are ceramic implants, and are they better than titanium?
Zirconia ceramic implants are a metal-free alternative to titanium. Because there is no grey metal margin, nothing shows through if your gum tissue is thin or recedes later, and some patients choose them over concerns about metal. They are not automatically better. Zirconia has a shorter clinical track record, comes in fewer diameters and lengths, and one-piece designs leave less room to correct an awkward implant angle at the restorative stage.
How does an implant-supported overdenture differ from a regular denture?
A conventional denture rests on the gum ridge and depends on suction and adhesive, so it can lift when you chew while the ridge slowly resorbs underneath it. An overdenture snaps onto attachments carried by implants placed in the jaw, which anchors it and restores far more biting force. It still comes out for cleaning at night. How many implants an arch needs depends on bone height, which a scan settles rather than a phone estimate.
Do I keep seeing my own dentist if I am treated here?
Yes, and you should. This is a periodontal and implant surgical practice, covering gum disease treatment, grafting and the placement of the implants themselves. Routine cleanings, fillings and the crown or bridge that eventually sits on an implant generally stay with your general dentist, who coordinates the restorative half of the plan. Most patients arrive on referral, and imaging and notes move between the two offices so work is not duplicated.

Although having oral surgery is never fun, they make it the best experience possible. Dr. Juluri is great, with a sense of humor, and the staff is wonderful too. Especially the dental assistant. She took her time to explain everything, and let me squeeze her hand while getting numbed. Highly recommend if you need dental implants.

Professional and sincerely friendly people from start to finish. Everyone I interacted with knows the ins and outs of their job, and you can tell they actually ENJOY what they do - from the ladies at the front desk to the doctor and his assistant. Made sure I was comfortable before, during and after the procedure. Very glad they are taking care of me!

What a friendly staff. Everyone was so nice & pleasant. The procedure was thoroughly explained in advance with no surprises. The doctor was gentle and considerate during the procedure. There has been very little pain or bleeding after the procedure. I am very happy with the results.

I’ve been coming to this practice for the past 3–4 years, and they’ve somehow managed to make going to the dentist an experience you can actually survive—and even appreciate. The staff is always warm, friendly, and incredibly helpful every single visit. Their professionalism and kindness make you feel at ease from the moment you walk in. If you’re looking for a team you can trust for your periodontal care, I absolutely recommend them.
