About Stoker Dental & Orthodontics (Formerly Salt Lake City Dental Center)
A referral slip is the usual way an orthodontic case leaves a general dental office, and it is exactly what this practice on 700 East is built to avoid. Dr. Brigham Stoker runs a general practice that also treats braces, Invisalign and Six Month Smiles cases in-house, alongside implant placement, root canals, extractions and cosmetic work. He teaches orthodontic technique to other general dentists through Progressive Orthodontic Seminars and serves as a general dentistry advisor for Ultradent, the Utah-based dental manufacturer, which is a reasonable signal that the orthodontics here is a deliberate part of the practice rather than a sideline. The office still carries its former name, Salt Lake City Dental Center, on older records and insurance listings.
The real question you are weighing is whether one-roof care serves your case or costs you specialist depth. Where the problem is teeth that overlap, gaps that want closing, or a bite off by a mild to moderate margin, a trained general dentist working with digital planning can deliver the same mechanics a specialist would, with the advantage that the person tracking your fillings, gum health and wear patterns is the same person moving your teeth. Complex skeletal discrepancies, surgical orthodontics and impacted canines are a different conversation, and worth asking about directly at your consultation.
Records are digital: cone beam CT for implant and third-molar planning, digital X-rays, and iTero scanning instead of impression trays, which matters if putty molds have made you gag in the past. Implants are placed with computer-guided planning, and single-visit crowns are milled in-office, so a broken cusp does not necessarily mean two appointments and a temporary. Oral conscious sedation and nitrous oxide are both available, which is the practical difference for patients who have avoided dental care for years. Emergencies are fitted in on the day itself when there is room in the book.
The address puts you in Central City: 144 South 700 East is a few blocks east of Library Square, walkable from the 400 South TRAX line, and just north of Trolley Square. That suits downtown workers and residents of the Avenues, Liberty Wells and 9th and 9th more than it suits anyone commuting from the south end of the valley. Thursday opens at 6:45am and Friday at 7:15am, so early appointments before work are genuinely available; there are no weekend hours.
Dr. Brigham Stoker's Central City practice, formerly Salt Lake City Dental Center, keeps orthodontics, implant placement and everyday restorative care in-house rather than referring out, backed by cone beam imaging, iTero scanning and same-visit crowns. Nitrous oxide and oral conscious sedation are available, and early Thursday and Friday starts suit patients who want to be finished before work.

All the staff were very kind and knowledgeable. Will definitely be going back
I went to Stoker Dental for over a year and always had the best quality care! Unfortunately I’m moving out of state, but I’d highly recommend them to anyone in the Salt Lake area looking for a dentist/orthodontist.
Third time at dr stokers dental office he told me I have a cracked tooth and 5 cavities. Seemed suspicious. The same day he told my wife she has 9 cavities. We knew that couldn’t be true so we got second opinions. No cavities. I won’t be going back here.
Dr. Stoker and his team are the best, they are honest and kind. They have made going to the dentist a pleasant experience. I am grateful to have found them.
Like it, love it
I’ve been seeing Dr. Stoker for many years now, and he has always taken great care of me. He takes the time to explain things clearly and makes every effort to ensure a comfortable experience. He and his team are professional, kind, and easy to trust. I really appreciate the care I’ve received over the years and would highly recommend Dr. Stoker to anyone looking for a great dentist.
Dr Stoker is very skillful and has very modern equipment like x-ray and 3D imaging equipment. He also has his own building with plenty of easily accessible parking. The exterior is old because it’s historic, but the inside is super modern with lots of cool features. It’s very easy to communicate because their phone receives texts monitored by humans, not bots. So you can call or just handle everything via texts. The staff is very friendly and it has a family like feel. And Dr Stoker is skilled at root canals, extractions and Invisalign orthodontia as well as the normal stuff. I had three crowns done and they are perfect.
Dr. Stoker and his team are all very caring about not just your oral health, but who you are as a whole human being. When I lived here 14 years ago I went in for an urgent treatment to replace a bonding on a molar that I had snapped off. It happened more than once before, and Dr. Stoker replaced it and ensured the pressure point that was causing the problem was eliminated. Now that I’ve moved back and saw he was still in practice, I knew I wanted to establish my continued care on my Mouth Journey tm, to maintain my oral health and preserve the extensive restoration I had between here and there. The techs who treated me are personable and communicative, ask lots of questions and put me at ease, even as someone who genuinely loves going to the dentist. I had a full intake and deep cleaning; and it was all quick yet thorough. Having digital x-rays now is amazing. No more lead vest and exposure to radiation, they can be in the room as they take your images, so you KNOW this is safe. They have a wide variety of fluoride and polish flavors that I didn’t even know existed! I got the caramel fluoride and I have only positive things to say about it. The grape polish I got was pleasant and not a punch you in the face grape Crush or Hubba Bubba flavor, it was subtle and if you don’t like mint polish due to how intense it is, I would suggest it! I know they have the ability to print Invisalign trays and construct crowns in-house. A true one-stop shop for anything you could possibly need done. While I’m not sure of their ability to do more invasive surgeries such as for botched and infected to the sinus root canals (which I have had. He did not perform that root canal! This was one from back in 2002 I had to have fully cleaned out 8 years ago when I lived in YVR), I’m sure that they would have a solid working relationship with an oral surgeon who can do that and get you all fixed up. All in all, a wonderful visit to a dentist and team I will use for the rest of my time here!
Dr. Stoker has been my dentist for years (10+) and I have recommended him to all my friends and family. Him and his staff are so kind, caring, and amazing at what they do they do. I also recently had Dr. Stocker fix my bottom teeth with Invisalign, since I never received a permanent bottom retainer following my braces as a teen. I am very pleased with the results and the care I received. He makes an effort to never make you wait and is always willing to spend time answering questions or addressing concerns. I highly recommend Dr. Stoker and know I can trust that I am receiving the best care possible.
I cannot say enough great things about this dental office! I started going here last year and it has completely changed how I feel about going to the dentist. The location is super convenient, the office is modern and beautiful, and the technology they use is clearly top-notch. Everything feels clean, updated, and efficient. My hygienist, Cruise, is absolutely incredible. He is not only amazing at what he does, but he’s also genuinely caring and thorough. I have periodontal disease, and he took the time to create a thoughtful game plan to help keep it under control. He explains everything clearly, answers all my questions in detail, and never makes me feel rushed. Dr. Stoker is fantastic as well — knowledgeable, friendly, and very informative. The entire team is welcoming and professional, and they always take time to make sure I understand what’s going on. This is honestly the first dentist I’ve ever had where appointments don’t feel like a chore. I actually look forward to going! Highly recommend to anyone looking for a dental office that truly cares about their patients.
