About StoneCreek Dental Care - Birmingham Montclair

StoneCreek Dental Care - Birmingham Montclair runs a Mountain Brook practice on Montclair Road as part of the regional StoneCreek dental chain that operates several offices across the Birmingham metro and beyond. The format is what you'd expect from a regional chain — standardized intake processes, broad insurance acceptance, and a treatment menu that handles general dentistry plus most specialty work in-house instead of routing patients to outside referrals for every non-routine procedure.

Routine general dentistry is the bulk of the schedule, with composite fillings as one of the most common procedures. The team handles single-surface and multi-surface restorations, replacement fillings, and the diagnostic call on whether a tooth's decay is contained enough for a filling versus deep enough to need a crown or root canal. They'll usually show the cavity on the intraoral camera and walk through the treatment options before the work begins. Beyond fillings, services cover cleanings, exams, extractions, root canal treatment, basic orthodontic plans, and cosmetic work.

If you've been seeing a dentist further from home out of habit and you actually live in Mountain Brook or the Montclair corridor, switching to a closer location can cut your visit time in half without changing the quality of care.

Patients searching for general dentistry in Birmingham, AL, family dentist in Birmingham, or routine dental care in Birmingham who live in Mountain Brook, Crestline, or Cahaba Heights often weigh chain practices for the convenience and insurance breadth. StoneCreek's Montclair office fits that pattern. The new-patient exam combines comprehensive X-rays, periodontal screening, and a treatment-plan review before any restorative work is scheduled. For Mountain Brook-area residents picking a regular general dental practice, this Montclair Road office is a reasonable starting point. Birmingham's metro dental capacity tightens and loosens by season — if the practice isn't accepting new patients on first call, asking about a waitlist position is worth the two minutes before moving on to other options. It's worth asking whether the practice files insurance directly or expects payment up front and reimbursement separately, because the answer materially shifts how much you pay out of pocket on the visit day.

StoneCreek Dental Care - Birmingham Montclair runs a Mountain Brook practice on Montclair Road, providing general dentistry — cleanings, fillings, crowns, and routine restorative work as part of the regional StoneCreek chain.

Why do my gums bleed when the hygienist cleans my teeth?
Bleeding during a cleaning almost always points to inflammation in the gums rather than to rough technique. Gums that are healthy do not generally bleed. The encouraging part is that early gum inflammation is reversible once the build-up causing it is removed.
Does a cavity always need a filling?
Once decay has broken through the enamel it does need treatment, because it will keep progressing. What that treatment involves depends on depth: a filling for most, and more extensive work if it has reached the nerve.
Can early tooth decay be reversed?
Very early demineralisation, before a cavity has actually formed a hole, can sometimes be remineralised with fluoride and better plaque control. Once decay has broken through the enamel surface, it does not heal and needs to be cleaned out and filled.

I love it here! It is by far my favorite dentist's office I've ever been to. Dr. Kumar is very knowledgeable, kind, and down to earth. She answers any and all questions thoroughly and with compassion. The hygienists and administrative staff are also incredible. I've always been so afraid of the dentist so I really appreciate this place. Highly recommend!

Dr. Kumar did an excellent job on my internal bleaching, her method allowed me to get it done in 1 treatment instead of 2-3. She’s also super nice and explains what she’s doing as she works which definitely helps make you more comfortable.

Dr. Tammy Kumar is an exceptional dentist with a wit and a charm that matches her skill level. She is warm and kind, and her attention to detail is unmatched. Dr. Kumar is communicative as she strives for perfection, and I would highly recommend her for any dental work, especially cosmetic procedures.

This was first going to do the dentist in a long time so I was extremely nervous. My hygienist Lauren made me really comfortable, and she did a wonderful job at my deep cleaning! Dr. Kumar found something that needed to be fixed and she scheduled me that day for my next appointment to get it fixed. I love her urgency and dedication. I definitely just found my new dental home! ☺️

I cannot recommend highly enough! From the moment I walked in, I was greeted with a warm and welcoming atmosphere. The staff are all incredibly friendly and professional, and Lauren was friendly and informative, is truly a master of their craft. They took the time to explain everything to me clearly and made me feel at ease throughout my entire visit. The office is clean, modern, and well-equipped. I am so grateful to have found such an exceptional dental practice. Thank you for the great experience and top-notch care!
