About Sunset Dental

Sunset Dental provides dental care on Philomath Boulevard in Corvallis, Oregon. Implants are considered by many dentists the most durable way to replace a missing tooth, since the titanium post fuses with the jaw bone over several months and then supports a crown that functions much like a natural tooth. Enough healthy bone is the main prerequisite, and a graft can build that up first if needed.

A veneer is a thin custom shell bonded to the front of a tooth to change its shape, length, or colour, most often used to address chips, gaps, or discoloration that whitening alone cannot fix. Traditional veneers require a small amount of enamel to be removed, which makes the change permanent.

Cosmetic treatment is generally the least invasive branch of dentistry, built around changing how teeth look rather than fixing something broken. Whitening and bonding sit at the lighter end; veneers and reshaping involve more planning. Most cosmetic dental insurance excludes this kind of work, since it is elective rather than medically necessary.

Root canal treatment removes infected or inflamed tissue from inside a tooth, cleans and seals the space, and allows the natural tooth to be kept rather than extracted. Its reputation for being painful is largely outdated — carried out under local anaesthetic, it typically relieves pain rather than causing it.

A crown covers an entire damaged tooth — used when too much structure is missing for a filling to hold reliably, whether from a large fracture, extensive decay, or after root canal treatment. It restores both the shape and the biting strength of the tooth underneath.

A bridge replaces one or more missing teeth by anchoring a false tooth to crowns placed on the teeth either side of the gap, creating a fixed replacement rather than a removable one. It is a longstanding alternative to an implant, particularly when the neighbouring teeth already need crowns. This page has the practice's contact details and full service list. I was finally able to resolve my family’s billing issue over the phone with another front desk staff member, who was courteous and helpful. Unfortunately, my email communication with Rachèll was the opposite. My questions about multiple billing revisions were never directly answered, and the responses were dismissive and unprofessional. A difficult billing situation became much more frustrating because of the way it was handled. I hope the office improves its communication with patients.

Very disappointing experience with the billing process. My bill was revised multiple times after my treatment, including a new insurance claim submitted five months later, by which time I had already moved out of state. As a patient, I never knew what my final out-of-pocket cost would actually be. When I asked for an explanation and written confirmation that there would be no further billing revisions or charges, the office avoided answering my questions and repeatedly referred me back to the treatment plan instead of addressing the billing issues. Rachèll repeatedly avoided communicating with me by email and insisted that I contact the office by phone, which I was unable to do. Ultimately, I had to ask a friend to call the office on my behalf before I was finally able to pay the remaining balance and resolve the matter. Throughout this process, I found Rachèll’s communication extremely unprofessional and disrespectful. Patients deserve transparent billing, clear communication, and respectful treatment. Unfortunately, I cannot recommend this office.

I rarely post reviews, but after my experience with Sunset Dental, it definitely deserves one. I came in with a tremendous fear of dentists. I was shaking and could barely speak. Dr. Dorius and his staff made me feel so comfortable and didn't make me feel terrible for the state my teeth were in. Rather than harping on how I could've avoided this, they jumped right in with ways that we could fix things and that would fit well with my budget. They worked around my schedule to get me in for the quickest, easiest extraction I've ever had. I can't thank you enough for your care and time. I will definitely be coming back and have already referred several friends/family members.

Dusty is the absolute best hygienist, she makes me feel comfortable, is extremely knowledgeable and does a great job. The dentist did a crown for me and it went perfectly, no need for adjustments or anything afterwards.

Really good staff very friendly..., But don't go here if you don't have insurance. They just tried to charge my fiance $3500 for a root canal and crown. First other dentist I called quoted me $1900 at the very most.
