About Sweet Tooth Dentistry

Based on North Ashland Avenue in the Lincoln Park area of Chicago, Illinois, Sweet Tooth Dentistry is a dental practice serving the area. Sedation dentistry uses inhaled, oral, or intravenous options to help patients relax through treatment, ranging from nitrous oxide for mild anxiety through to deeper sedation for longer or more involved procedures. It is commonly used for patients who have avoided the dentist for years due to fear.

Beyond any single treatment, most dental visits start with an examination — checking for decay, reviewing the gums, and looking at existing fillings or crowns — often alongside X-rays where there is a reason to look between or beneath teeth. That groundwork is what a dentist uses to explain any findings and set out next steps before you leave.

Routine attendance, roughly every six months for most people, is what actually keeps small problems small. A lot of decay and gum disease develops without any pain in its early stages, which is why regular checkups matter even when nothing seems to be wrong, rather than only booking an appointment once something hurts.

A first appointment at a new practice typically covers a full examination, a review of your dental and medical history, and a professional cleaning, with X-rays if you do not have recent ones. It is also a reasonable time to raise any longer-term concerns, cosmetic or otherwise, so they can be factored into a plan going forward.

Day-to-day oral health still comes down to the basics between visits — brushing twice daily with fluoride toothpaste, cleaning between the teeth, and limiting how often sugary food and drink appear through the day matters more than the total amount eaten at once. Regular professional care is what catches whatever those habits do not.

Digital X-rays are a routine part of dental care because they show what a visual exam alone cannot — decay forming between teeth, bone loss below the gumline, and how developing adult teeth are positioned in children. They use a low radiation dose and are taken on a schedule matched to individual risk rather than at every single visit. Is sedation dentistry safe?
It is considered safe when properly assessed and monitored, which is why your medical history and current medications matter beforehand. Being open about those is the main thing that keeps it safe.
Can sedation help with dental phobia?
It is one of the main reasons people use it. For patients who have avoided treatment for years, sedation often makes the first appointment possible, and some become more comfortable with routine care afterward.
How often should I have a dental check-up?
Every six months suits most people. If you have gum disease or a history of decay a dentist may suggest coming more often. The point of regular visits is mostly to catch problems while they are still small and cheap to treat.

I’ve been going here since 2018. I literally recommend them to everyone I know. The entire staff goes above and beyond every time. They are professional, personable and all around great at what they do. Literally gave a friend their business card today.

I searched for years to find a good dentist in Chicago and have now referred SweetTooth to 3 different people. From kindly explaining insurance coverage to the care they take cleaning your teeth, they approach every conversation with understanding and include so many small personal touches to make your appointment a positive experience. Very grateful to the team and will continue to recommend them!

Went in today for my “bi-annual” visit and as always…supreme customer and patient experience. I cannot believe I have been going here over 7 years!!! The office is always stylish, clean and comfortable. The staff is always great and my Dental Hygienist Alex had small, magical hands and gave me a wonderful cleaning! I literally cannot think of a better place for any and all oral care maintenance! #TeamSweetTooth ❤️

I have been Dr. Grason's patient for nearly a decade, and I am so grateful to have found her and her staff. My dental cleaning and all additional care are always explained clearly, trauma-informed, cost conscious, and supportive. I struggle significantly with dental trauma from childhood, and Dr. Grason and her staff are incredibly kind and patient, offering me options for how to conduct the examination, take breaks, and use coping mechanisms. I will continue to be a Sweet Tooth patient for a long time!

Consistently a great experience with the most knowledgeable, gentle, and thoughtful staff. My Oura ring said I was in a ‘restorative state’ during my visit which attests to how comfortable Sweet Tooth makes you feel. Highly recommend.

I stopped in a few months ago for an evaluation, which they said they would be happy to do and that my insurane would over anything. I offered to pay when I left but they said there was no charge. Fast forward a few months later, and they have sent me a bill for their services, essentially admitting they had screwed up and had waitied to long to bill my insurance, and that they now needed me to pay them or they would sent my bill to a colletion agency. If you want to be flat out scammed, overchargd, and treated like a stupid bag of money, go here! The staff are arrogant and 'the dentist' seems like she would frighten chidlren. Don't be fooled by the positive reviews, they acitively solicit these reviews for money or other 'benefits' that they would otherwise overcharge you for.
