About Tampa Bay Endodontics

Tampa Bay Endodontics is a dental practice on 49th Street North in the Disston Heights area of St. Petersburg, Florida. Root canal treatment removes infected or inflamed tissue from inside a tooth, cleans and seals the space, and allows the natural tooth to be kept rather than extracted. Its reputation for being painful is largely outdated — carried out under local anaesthetic, it typically relieves pain rather than causing it.

Beyond any single treatment, most dental visits start with an examination — checking for decay, reviewing the gums, and looking at existing fillings or crowns — often alongside X-rays where there is a reason to look between or beneath teeth. That groundwork is what a dentist uses to explain any findings and set out next steps before you leave.

Routine attendance, roughly every six months for most people, is what actually keeps small problems small. A lot of decay and gum disease develops without any pain in its early stages, which is why regular checkups matter even when nothing seems to be wrong, rather than only booking an appointment once something hurts.

A first appointment at a new practice typically covers a full examination, a review of your dental and medical history, and a professional cleaning, with X-rays if you do not have recent ones. It is also a reasonable time to raise any longer-term concerns, cosmetic or otherwise, so they can be factored into a plan going forward.

Day-to-day oral health still comes down to the basics between visits — brushing twice daily with fluoride toothpaste, cleaning between the teeth, and limiting how often sugary food and drink appear through the day matters more than the total amount eaten at once. Regular professional care is what catches whatever those habits do not.

Digital X-rays are a routine part of dental care because they show what a visual exam alone cannot — decay forming between teeth, bone loss below the gumline, and how developing adult teeth are positioned in children. They use a low radiation dose and are taken on a schedule matched to individual risk rather than at every single visit. Frequently Asked Questions

Where is Tampa Bay Endodontics located in St. Petersburg?

Tampa Bay Endodontics is open Monday through Friday. Contact the practice through this page to confirm current appointment times before travelling.
What services does Tampa Bay Endodontics offer?
Listed services at Tampa Bay Endodontics include Root Canal Treatment. The full list is shown on this page.
Is a root canal as painful as people say?
The reputation is largely outdated. The procedure is carried out under local anaesthetic and is usually no more uncomfortable than having a filling. The severe pain people associate with root canals is generally the infection beforehand, which the treatment relieves.
How do I know if I need a root canal?
Common signs are lingering pain after something hot or cold, pain when biting down, a tooth that darkens, or a persistent pimple-like spot on the gum. Diagnosis needs an examination and usually an X-ray, since these can point to other problems too.
Is it normal for teeth to be sensitive to cold?
Mild, brief sensitivity is common and often relates to exposed root surfaces or worn enamel. Sensitivity that lingers after the cold is removed is more significant and worth having examined, as it can indicate the nerve is involved.

As someone who struggles to get numb at dental appointments, I felt no pain and the entire root canal took 45 minutes-I was out of the office less than an hour after I got there. Dr. Duerson and Mayle were professional, competent and caring. 5 stars

There just isn't enough good things i can say about this place. Its the first time in my long life that could walk out from getting a root canal and say that was wonderful. The staff and Dr. Broome were so pleasant. You felt like you had been going there for years. Your bill was exactly as they had told you it would be no feeling of being charged to much. Very pleasant and very clean. So unusual to feel this satisfied this day and age .

I had a constant ear ache for over a year. Had been to my primary, an ENT, a TMJ Specialist and three other Dentist. No one could solve the problem untilI saw Dr. Broome at Tampa Bay Endodontics. I now have relief and can enjoy my life again. He also had completed another dental procedure 8 months ago that was the same excellent care.

I was very impressed with this facility. I was greeted quickly, and the team explained the entire process with great clarity. Everyone was friendly, the office was spotless, and the service was remarkably fast with zero surprises. This is officially my go-to spot for myself and my family!

Dr. Broome had performed a root canal for me in 2021 and I developed an infection recently. His staff immediately got me in for an evaluation and Dr. Broome cleared his schedule for the re-treatment following the examination despite the receptionist saying it would be likely I would have to return for any procedures. He made sure I understood what happened and how it would be remedied. His assistant was also excellent. Given the pain I was in the quick resolution of my problem was greatly appreciated. I also was pleased with the professionalism everyone in the practice exhibited. I will always see Dr Broome should I ever need another root canal procedure.

I had my first visit at the office this morning and I was really pleased with the tech, Dr and reception. Like many of us the dentist is a challenging place to be and I can say today went as smoothly as a root canal can go. I was listened to genuinely, the tech and Dr were very considerate of any mental anguish I might be experiencing associated with the visit. For example the Dr started the hand piece away from me which gave me the chance to habituate to the noise instead of getting a jump scare. The tech and Dr didn’t crowd around my face like I’ve typically experienced (and felt was normal procedure). There was barely any use of typical irrigation or suction so I didn’t have to mange either of those things. They even gave me a blanket. All the staff I interacted with had a pleasant demeanor. Reception helped me with my insurance company, they didn’t have to do that. I won’t lie and say it’s a walk in the park or that the bill didn’t make me wince a little, but expertise was worth it.

Absolutely excellent from start to finish. Staff was friendly, professional, efficient. The doctor was amazing - NO PAIN at all!! He talked his way through the procedure so I knew at all times what was happening and what to expect. Billing was straightforward with insurance done correctly. I was extremely comfortable and confident. I will definitely go back when I have to.
