About Tampa Bay Periodontics and Implant Dentistry
Based on East Bloomingdale Avenue in Brandon, Florida, Tampa Bay Periodontics and Implant Dentistry is a dental practice serving the area. Gum disease treatment ranges from a deeper professional cleaning for early inflammation through to more involved periodontal care once bone around the teeth has started to be affected. Bleeding gums are usually the earliest sign, and the early stage is reversible with proper cleaning and better daily plaque control.
Beyond any single treatment, most dental visits start with an examination — checking for decay, reviewing the gums, and looking at existing fillings or crowns — often alongside X-rays where there is a reason to look between or beneath teeth. That groundwork is what a dentist uses to explain any findings and set out next steps before you leave.
Routine attendance, roughly every six months for most people, is what actually keeps small problems small. A lot of decay and gum disease develops without any pain in its early stages, which is why regular checkups matter even when nothing seems to be wrong, rather than only booking an appointment once something hurts.
A first appointment at a new practice typically covers a full examination, a review of your dental and medical history, and a professional cleaning, with X-rays if you do not have recent ones. It is also a reasonable time to raise any longer-term concerns, cosmetic or otherwise, so they can be factored into a plan going forward.
Day-to-day oral health still comes down to the basics between visits — brushing twice daily with fluoride toothpaste, cleaning between the teeth, and limiting how often sugary food and drink appear through the day matters more than the total amount eaten at once. Regular professional care is what catches whatever those habits do not.
Digital X-rays are a routine part of dental care because they show what a visual exam alone cannot — decay forming between teeth, bone loss below the gumline, and how developing adult teeth are positioned in children. They use a low radiation dose and are taken on a schedule matched to individual risk rather than at every single visit. I had swollen gums, a lot was going on with my gums, and each time i brushed my teeth i bled. So that stole my smile. I was afraid at first, because of the past places i have been. But the staffs were very friendly and respectful and they made me feel comfortable. They all did amazingly well giving me, my smile back. A special thanks goes to Dr Elsy Orellana ,who was very patience with me. Now my gums looks good, and my smile is not hidden anymore.😁 YOU GUYS ROCK!!
I had an internal resorption Issue with one of my back teeth that revealed itself over 15 years ago. Since I’ve never had anything but cleanings every six months since I was two years old, I was scared to death to have a root canal. Three times I scheduled an appointment to have it done and three times I canceled it at the last minute. My dentist kept telling me that I didn’t want to wait until I started experiencing pain to have it taken care of. My fear allowed me to ignore his advice for 15 years until I started feeling ‘sensitivity’ in the tooth. I was set to travel later in the week and didn’t want the issue to become exacerbated while flying. Tampa Bay Periodontics and Implant Dentistry was able to get me in same day for an extraction and implant prep as I was no longer a candidate for a root canal. The only issue was that I had eaten that morning so they could not give me IV sedation. I panicked wondering how I was going to allow them to stick a needle in my mouth without me acting like a two year-old (I’m now 53). They successfully provided me with medication to help me relax in addition to what we referred to as “Laughing” gas. I felt nothing, knew nothing, and remembered nothing. Exactly how I needed it to happen! It’s been a little over a week now and I just had my stitches removed. I am set to return in six months for my implant. I highly recommend this office. Everyone was absolutely amazing and patient with my shenanigans. Five stars all the way!
I came in for a consultation/evaluation. Everyone was friendly and the doctor was informative. They even showed me visuals to help me understand the issue I was having.
I had the best possible experience at theTamoa Bay Periodontics and Implant center yesterday. In spite of considerable anxiety concerning the procedure and potential cost implications, I was put at ease due to the superb communications, detailed, yet lay explanations, and the obvious level of expertise in my interaction with ALL members of the staff. It was evident that they had extensive depth and experience in dealing with patients and they were to answer all of the questions that my wife and I posed. While I am not looking forward to the procedure (Who would?), I have complete confidence that Dr.Orellano is exactly the right surgeon to accomplish this task with a minimum of complication and discomfort.
I love this office!! First, I have NEVER experienced a dental surgery and had ZERO pain afterwards! Dr. Podaru placed an implant in my mouth, and I never experienced pain nor swelling afterwards. And I wasn't on heavy pain meds! Secondly, everyone in the staff was very friendly and seems to genuinely care about the patients. I can say that I had the best overall experience that I have ever had with any dentist! Thank you!
Dr. Podaru provides excellent care! My treatment went smoothly and he followed up by checking in on my recovery. He and the staff are caring and attentive, and treat patients like family. I was glad he worked hard to make sure my experience was positive.
