About Tampa Bay Periodontics and Implant Dentistry

Tampa Bay Periodontics and Implant Dentistry operates on Bruce B Downs Boulevard in Wesley Chapel, Florida. Gum disease treatment ranges from a deeper professional cleaning for early inflammation through to more involved periodontal care once bone around the teeth has started to be affected. Bleeding gums are usually the earliest sign, and the early stage is reversible with proper cleaning and better daily plaque control.

Day-to-day oral health still comes down to the basics between visits — brushing twice daily with fluoride toothpaste, cleaning between the teeth, and limiting how often sugary food and drink appear through the day matters more than the total amount eaten at once. Regular professional care is what catches whatever those habits do not.

Digital X-rays are a routine part of dental care because they show what a visual exam alone cannot — decay forming between teeth, bone loss below the gumline, and how developing adult teeth are positioned in children. They use a low radiation dose and are taken on a schedule matched to individual risk rather than at every single visit.

Left untreated, small dental problems tend not to stay small. A minor cavity that would have been a straightforward filling can progress to needing root canal treatment and a crown, and early gum inflammation that would have reversed with a good cleaning can progress toward bone loss around the teeth. Catching things early is generally the difference in both effort and cost.

Continuity matters in dental care — seeing the same practice over time means your history, X-rays, and any patterns in your oral health are already on file, rather than starting from scratch at each visit. That familiarity is part of what a regular dental home offers beyond any single appointment.

Dental anxiety is common, and most practices are used to working with nervous patients — through clear explanations of what is about to happen, a slower pace where needed, and sedation options for patients who want them. Avoiding the dentist out of anxiety tends to make eventual treatment more involved, not less. Frequently Asked Questions

Where is Tampa Bay Periodontics and Implant Dentistry located in Wesley Chapel?

Tampa Bay Periodontics and Implant Dentistry is open Monday through Friday. Contact the practice through this page to confirm current appointment times before travelling.
What services does Tampa Bay Periodontics and Implant Dentistry offer?
Listed services at Tampa Bay Periodontics and Implant Dentistry include Gum Disease Treatment. The full list is shown on this page.
Why do my gums bleed even though I brush twice a day?
Bleeding usually reflects where you are cleaning rather than how often. Plaque left along the gumline and between teeth causes inflammation there, which is exactly the area brushing alone tends to miss, so flossing or interdental brushes matter.
Can gum disease make you lose teeth?
Yes — advanced gum disease is a leading cause of tooth loss in adults. It destroys the bone and fibres holding teeth in place, which is why teeth eventually loosen, and it usually progresses without pain.
How can I look after my teeth between appointments?
Brushing twice a day with fluoride toothpaste and cleaning between the teeth daily covers most of it. Limiting how often sugary food and drink appear through the day matters more than the total amount consumed.

Very professional as well as very caring and personal. They provide all the information you need to recover from treatments. The office is a one hour drive from where I live but the trip is absolutely worth it.

Dr Kailand Cosgrove is a recently well educated practitioner, skilled technician, and a communicative and compassionate professional. During my two sessions with her, I’ve come to appreciate what periodontics should entail—although I have been a periodontal patient since 1998.

We just loved Dr. Cosgrove and her staff! Our 10 yr old had a frenectomy and everyone made her visit "awesome". I wish your website had everyone's names/pics so I could give them a shout out. The woman at the front desk was always so pleasant and kind. The woman that met with us after our consult was awesome - she ensured our daughter would have her fav milkshake flavor after her procedure. It's the little things....The nurses were wonderful too.
