About The Exeter Dental Centre
The Exeter Dental Centre is a dental practice on Castle Square House in the Castle Street area of Exeter, England. A dental implant replaces a missing tooth at the root, not just the crown — a small titanium post is placed in the jaw bone and, once it has integrated over a period of months, a replacement tooth is attached to it. It is generally the most durable option for a single missing tooth or several.
Clear aligners straighten teeth through a series of custom, removable trays, each worn for one to two weeks before moving to the next in the sequence. They suit mild to moderate crowding and spacing well, and are worn roughly twenty to twenty-two hours a day for treatment to stay on schedule.
A veneer is a thin custom shell bonded to the front of a tooth to change its shape, length, or colour, most often used to address chips, gaps, or discoloration that whitening alone cannot fix. Traditional veneers require a small amount of enamel to be removed, which makes the change permanent.
Cosmetic treatment is generally the least invasive branch of dentistry, built around changing how teeth look rather than fixing something broken. Whitening and bonding sit at the lighter end; veneers and reshaping involve more planning. Most cosmetic dental insurance excludes this kind of work, since it is elective rather than medically necessary.
Root canal treatment removes infected or inflamed tissue from inside a tooth, cleans and seals the space, and allows the natural tooth to be kept rather than extracted. Its reputation for being painful is largely outdated — carried out under local anaesthetic, it typically relieves pain rather than causing it.
A crown covers an entire damaged tooth — used when too much structure is missing for a filling to hold reliably, whether from a large fracture, extensive decay, or after root canal treatment. It restores both the shape and the biting strength of the tooth underneath. I really appreciate the Exeter Dental Centre being in town, and having a lift so everyone can get up to the surgeries! The treatment I have received over a number of years has been excellent.
Excellent on time
Great experience
Very friendly and helpful staff
Hi, the practice is to expensive, the implant are seriously to expensive. And for that reason I’m seriously thinking of leaving the practice. Because it’s so expensive I can’t even give you 1 star. but the dentist and the hygienist are excellent and i give them 5 stars
The staff at this dental practice are lovely and friendly, and I do appreciate how busy the practice is. However, it often feels very rushed, and appointments are rarely on time. While I understand delays can happen in a busy environment, the rushed nature of the appointments made me feel like my care and comfort weren’t always a priority. I was a patient here for around four years but ultimately decided to leave due to concerns about the approach to treatment. On more than one occasion, I was advised that tooth extraction was the best option, even for teeth that I felt were important to try and save. Every tooth matters when it comes to eating, speaking, and overall confidence, so being told removal was the main solution was quite disheartening. I sought a second opinion elsewhere, where the dentist questioned why no X-ray had been taken. After carrying out proper imaging, they confirmed the tooth was badly decayed but still offered an alternative—root canal treatment followed by a build-up and crown. Although this required more time and cost, I chose this route to save the tooth, and I’ve had no issues since. In contrast, at this practice, even routine hygiene visits and fillings felt rushed, and there didn’t seem to be much focus on patient comfort. I often felt under pressure, and at times the atmosphere came across as impatient. Overall, while the staff are kind, I personally would prefer a dentist who takes more time, explores all treatment options, and prioritises preserving teeth where possible rather than opting for extraction as a quicker solution to save time for them, Therefore I have been taking time to warn others of this practice.
I am so grateful to Ruairi and all of his team. From the initial consultation to the final fitting of my implants, I was made to feel at ease, and the whole step by step process was explained to me clearly. I can now smile again with confidence! I am so happy my dental implants, they look amazing and that’s all because of Ruairi! Thank you !
We've used this surgery for a few years now, and they have been exceptional on every occasion. Clean and welcoming reception; friendly and polite staff; dental cleaning, treatment and advice all excellent. It actually feels like they care for their patients, and we're very happy to have them as our dentists.
I am happy with the overall experience at Exeter Dental, it took longer than I expected but the results are fantastic. I am pleased with the colour match and my confidence has improved. I would definitely recommend Ruairi to fix anybody smile. Thank you
I am delighted with the service I received yesterday at The Exeter Dental Centre and I would warmly recommend it to anyone looking for first class quality dental care. You will be taken care of by a professional team who go above and beyond to make you feel comfortable and relaxed. It is the only dental surgery I have attended whose injections are totally painfree. I used to be a very nervous patient but that's now history thanks to Jim Hall. Yesterday's hygienist visit was likewise thorough and totally painfree so thank you very much Tom Wardiell and for going the extra mile to help solve my RingGo App for me. Anyone reading this, do not hesitate to join Exeter Dental Centre. You won't regret it.
