About The Ottawa Hospital Dental Clinic
The Ottawa Hospital Dental Clinic operates on Carling Avenue in the Civic Hospital - Experimental Farm - Central Park area of Ottawa, Ontario. Implants are considered by many dentists the most durable way to replace a missing tooth, since the titanium post fuses with the jaw bone over several months and then supports a crown that functions much like a natural tooth. Enough healthy bone is the main prerequisite, and a graft can build that up first if needed.
Cosmetic dentistry covers treatment aimed primarily at appearance — whitening, veneers, bonding, and reshaping among the more common options — for patients who are less concerned with a problem that hurts than with how their smile looks day to day. The right combination depends on what specifically you would like to change.
A crown covers an entire damaged tooth — used when too much structure is missing for a filling to hold reliably, whether from a large fracture, extensive decay, or after root canal treatment. It restores both the shape and the biting strength of the tooth underneath.
Gum disease treatment ranges from a deeper professional cleaning for early inflammation through to more involved periodontal care once bone around the teeth has started to be affected. Bleeding gums are usually the earliest sign, and the early stage is reversible with proper cleaning and better daily plaque control.
Professional teeth whitening uses a peroxide-based gel, applied under supervision at a strength stronger than anything sold over the counter, to lift years of staining from coffee, tea, red wine, and tobacco. It works on natural enamel only — existing crowns, veneers, and fillings keep whatever shade they were made in.
A family dental practice sees a range of ages under one roof, which for most households means fewer separate appointments across different offices. It typically covers routine checkups and restorative treatment for both children and adults, with referrals out for anything requiring specialist training. I had a very disappointing experience at the Emergency Department. I waited for over 9 hours without seeing a doctor. The long wait was frustrating, but what made it worse was the lack of communication. Whenever I asked the staff for an update, I was only told to “wait longer” without any clear explanation or estimated time. I understand emergency departments can be busy, but patients deserve honest communication and regular updates. I hope the hospital improves both its wait times and the way it communicates with patients during long delays.
I blasted a nail through my hand and came to Ottawa hospital to have it assessed and removed. After a very short wait, 10 minutes tops I was seen in triage and on my way for x rays - turns out the nail was lodged into a bone but they were able to remove it, and to my relief I was back at work within 3 hours of arriving. I can’t say enough good things about the staff I dealt with. Thanks for taking care of me and getting me back to work guys!
IF you are admitted on time (before you lose an organ or suffer irreversible harm), the the service is great.
Had an appointment for 8am gived my health card to the receptionist she didn't even looked at it handed back said to go sit down at the waiting area. Waiting waiting people going in n out keep in mind ibwas there for 7.45am which i was told to come at that time and parked at the meter outside. 8.35am looked around was getting annoyed went up tonthe reception and asking its going to be longer for my ultra sound. She as me for my name health card said oh you were to go in already but old granny supposedly never registered me. I was piss walked out from my appointment had to cancel it cus of there ignorance, lack of skills she has. Went to the mean office told them the suiation and ask gived me the number to call and report the incident. You will think the hospital will look into it and call me back after leaving a message with my phone number. No one called.Shme on them shame
I owe my forever thanks to the staff at Ottawa Civic. My recovery would not be where it is without the compassion and consistent hard work of all the nurses, doctors, and support staff across the hospital. Special thanks to the 7th floor. Mackenzie (ICU), Janet, Meighan, Robert, Helen, and Connor are just a few names worth a shoutout. Cheers to never touching a Bird scooter again!
I went to the Emergency Department because of severe stomach pain, and this was my first surgery. This hospital never fails to impress me. The doctors, nurses, and all other staff were amazing in every way. They provided excellent care, support, and professionalism throughout my visit. Thank you to everyone who was involved in my care, from the moment I arrived until my operation. I truly appreciate all that you did for me. Highly recommended!
I am giving this review based on my experience with labor and delivery. I delivered my son back in September 2025 via c-section. We had a scheduled c-section but ended up being early. When we arrived at the hospital, the team that was working were quick, efficient, and kind. No complaints whatsoever. I remember vividly the surgical team were absolutely wonderful. They prepped me and my spouse for surgery, and when it began, they talked us through step by step what they were doing. Felt very comfortable. The NICU workers who helped along the way were super professional yet compassionate to the family. They talk us through all the paperwork and explained how to file it. My recovery went super smooth, all the staff who tended to me and my son were so amazing, they answered all the questions me and my spouse had, always felt safe. Had a bit of an issue where I wasn't allowed to move around to go see my son at first, but easy conversation with the staff fixed the issue. I always tell everyone that I had such a wonderful experience at the civic. The memories I have are all pretty much positive. Thank you to the team we had.
I was booked a CT scan and they squeezed me in at night. There were so few yet still some patients at night. There are directions and signs to guide you. Just remember where you enter is the Main Floor (floor 0, zero), the 1A or 1B is on the "second" floor and so on. You will have to take the elevator
If you are having a baby; have it here. My daughter was induced at 35 weeks and had an emergency c-section. The staff on the maternity ward, from nurses to doctors, are top notch. We loved everyone we came in contact with but if you are lucky enough to get Batool you will have in my opinion the best nurse in the hospitsl if not the city. She cares above and beyond about all aspects of your care including small comforts and just makes you feel completely cared for and in safe and competent hands. Truly had the most amazing experience during a hard and trying birth
