About The Philadelphia Dentist
The Philadelphia Dentist provides general dental services to patients in the Castor Gardens and Rhawnhurst neighborhoods of Northeast Philadelphia from its office at 7718 Castor Ave, Suite 1, Philadelphia, PA 19152. Castor Avenue is a major Northeast Philadelphia commercial corridor connecting the Castor Gardens, Rhawnhurst, and Burholme communities, accessible for patients from across the 19152 and surrounding zip codes of Northeast Philadelphia.
The practice's name speaks to its identity as a straightforward, community-focused dental practice serving the Northeast Philadelphia patient base. Comprehensive oral examinations evaluate tooth structure, gum tissue health, bite alignment, and the condition of any existing restorations, providing a thorough clinical assessment that guides each patient's ongoing oral health care. Radiographic imaging supports early detection of developing conditions at the earliest treatable stage.
Professional cleanings remove the calculus and plaque deposits that accumulate on tooth surfaces and below the gumline between visits, reducing the bacterial load associated with gum disease and tooth decay. For patients with active decay, The Philadelphia Dentist provides tooth-colored composite fillings that restore tooth integrity while maintaining a natural appearance. Dental crowns are available for teeth with more significant structural damage, and extractions are performed when preservation is not feasible.
Castor Avenue at 7718 is served by SEPTA bus routes and is accessible from the Rhawnhurst and Mayfair areas of Northeast Philadelphia as well as the Roosevelt Boulevard and Frankford Avenue corridors. Street parking is available near the practice on Castor Avenue and the surrounding residential blocks. Our family dentist! Trust this place
I am just kind of confused. Reading other people’s experiences here vs my husband’s. If I could give no stars I would. I don’t understand how a place wants to charge you full price when you have dental insurance, to then say get reimbursed by your insurance, when it should be decided right then and there if the insurance fully covers or partially covers. The examination was $80-90, he paid. He was then told $4500 first and at the end it was $9k. It is understandable due to the circumstances of the tooth. However, giving an attitude and saying “well we told you the price” when a patient claims they have insurance and it should adjust the price, is foul. At the end you get taken advantage of because 9/10 the insurance is not going to 100% pay for a root canal or crowning. So why can’t you use insurance prices upfront? Would hate to see someone pay 9k out of pocket and not get any sort of reimbursement. All he needed was an emergency appointment but will continue to go to his primary dentist office.
By far the best experience with a dentist i ever had. very nice staff that went out of the way to make sure I was comfortable before starting... Had two wisdom teeth pulled for a cheaper price then the last place I went to by almost half. saving money without compromising on quality by any means 10 out of 10 highly recommend
If you have dental anxiety , go here ! They were all very nice , answered any questions I had to ask about the procedure. I had my tooth pulled , it was so quick and painless . I highly recommend this place .
Excellent service. Called at 7am on Saturday morning in terrible pain and was seen by 845 same day. Xray and extraction completed within 1 hour. Staff is wonderful. Dentist was informative, kind and most important, patient with me.
Dr Ray was amazing !! I had to get my tooth extracted and was very nervous about it. He kept me at ease assuring I wouldn’t feel a thing during the procedure except pressure. That’s it I called at 8:15 on a Saturday morning was scheduled for a 8:45 appointment and walked out at 9:45 ..would definitely recommend for an emergency dental needs !! Thanks Dr. Ray !!
