About The Philadelphia Dentist
The Philadelphia Dentist is a dental practice on Castor Avenue in the Northeast Philadelphia area of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. General dentistry covers the routine and restorative care most people need most often — examinations, cleanings, fillings, and preventive checks that catch problems while they are still small and inexpensive to treat. Regular attendance, roughly every six months for most patients, is what makes that early-catch approach actually work.
A first appointment at a new practice typically covers a full examination, a review of your dental and medical history, and a professional cleaning, with X-rays if you do not have recent ones. It is also a reasonable time to raise any longer-term concerns, cosmetic or otherwise, so they can be factored into a plan going forward.
Day-to-day oral health still comes down to the basics between visits — brushing twice daily with fluoride toothpaste, cleaning between the teeth, and limiting how often sugary food and drink appear through the day matters more than the total amount eaten at once. Regular professional care is what catches whatever those habits do not.
Digital X-rays are a routine part of dental care because they show what a visual exam alone cannot — decay forming between teeth, bone loss below the gumline, and how developing adult teeth are positioned in children. They use a low radiation dose and are taken on a schedule matched to individual risk rather than at every single visit.
Left untreated, small dental problems tend not to stay small. A minor cavity that would have been a straightforward filling can progress to needing root canal treatment and a crown, and early gum inflammation that would have reversed with a good cleaning can progress toward bone loss around the teeth. Catching things early is generally the difference in both effort and cost. Our family dentist! Trust this place
I am just kind of confused. Reading other people’s experiences here vs my husband’s. If I could give no stars I would. I don’t understand how a place wants to charge you full price when you have dental insurance, to then say get reimbursed by your insurance, when it should be decided right then and there if the insurance fully covers or partially covers. The examination was $80-90, he paid. He was then told $4500 first and at the end it was $9k. It is understandable due to the circumstances of the tooth. However, giving an attitude and saying “well we told you the price” when a patient claims they have insurance and it should adjust the price, is foul. At the end you get taken advantage of because 9/10 the insurance is not going to 100% pay for a root canal or crowning. So why can’t you use insurance prices upfront? Would hate to see someone pay 9k out of pocket and not get any sort of reimbursement. All he needed was an emergency appointment but will continue to go to his primary dentist office.
By far the best experience with a dentist i ever had. very nice staff that went out of the way to make sure I was comfortable before starting... Had two wisdom teeth pulled for a cheaper price then the last place I went to by almost half. saving money without compromising on quality by any means 10 out of 10 highly recommend
If you have dental anxiety , go here ! They were all very nice , answered any questions I had to ask about the procedure. I had my tooth pulled , it was so quick and painless . I highly recommend this place .
Excellent service. Called at 7am on Saturday morning in terrible pain and was seen by 845 same day. Xray and extraction completed within 1 hour. Staff is wonderful. Dentist was informative, kind and most important, patient with me.
Dr Ray was amazing !! I had to get my tooth extracted and was very nervous about it. He kept me at ease assuring I wouldn’t feel a thing during the procedure except pressure. That’s it I called at 8:15 on a Saturday morning was scheduled for a 8:45 appointment and walked out at 9:45 ..would definitely recommend for an emergency dental needs !! Thanks Dr. Ray !!
