About Timber Dental - Downtown Portland

Timber Dental – Downtown Portland is at suite 100, 310 SW 4th Avenue in Portland's downtown core — on SW 4th between the city's financial district and the transit mall, accessible from the downtown MAX and TriMet bus network and within walking distance of Portland's central business district, Chinatown, and the Old Town neighbourhoods. Timber Dental was founded in Northeast Portland in 2014 and has expanded across Portland to locations in Bethany, East Burnside, and Downtown — the Downtown location on SW 4th Avenue serves the workday and residential population of inner Portland.

As a multi-location Portland dental group with a defined brand identity, Timber Dental operates differently from single-location independent practices. The multi-site structure allows patients who live in one Portland neighbourhood and work in another to access care at whichever Timber Dental location is most convenient for a given appointment — a practical consideration in Portland's geographically distributed metropolitan footprint. The Downtown location on SW 4th serves the densest concentration of Portland's downtown worker population, who represent the most schedule-constrained segment of the city's dental demand.

Emergency dentistry alongside root canal treatment and extractions provides the acute care capabilities most needed by Portland's downtown worker population — patients who experience dental emergencies during the workday and need a dental office within walking distance of their office. Children's dentistry makes the downtown location accessible for families in the downtown-adjacent residential communities. Invisalign for adult alignment correction addresses the demand of Portland's young urban professional demographic.

Implants and crown and bridge restorations cover the restorative and prosthetic range. Teeth whitening handles the cosmetic requests of the downtown Portland patient demographic. General dentistry covers the preventive and maintenance scope.

For downtown Portland, Old Town, and Pearl District patients on the SW 4th Avenue corridor who want a general dental practice with emergency dentistry, Invisalign, and implants in the heart of Portland's downtown transit hub — with the multi-location Timber Dental network available across Portland — the suite 100 address at 310 SW 4th Avenue provides that combination.

My appointment today was about my bone loss and receding gums. I had so many questions and walked away with none. The specialist was kind, clear, extremely informative, patient and left me feeling like I knew what all of my options were in depth. He took so much time with me! And his assistant Cookie was just as wonderful. I’ve had the same experience with my regular dentist through Timber Dental. I highly recommend Timber Dental!

I would absolutely recommend this dentist. They have great attitudes and extremely concerned about their patients. I have had bad experiences before and was afraid to go to another dentist but they were great and instantly put be at ease. Had all my lower teeth pulled, some surgery but had no pain afterwards.

I have terrible anxiety regarding dental procedures, and Dr. Burton put me at ease immediately during our consultation. He was kind and matter-of-fact about what he was recommending, which helped me calm down significantly. The day of the procedure, his support staff was also exceedingly kind and professional, and non-judgemental about my crying and hyperventilating. If you have to go in for an unpleasant procedure, I would highly recommend Dr. Burton. I'll likely return to him if those types of services are required in the future.

I was considering not leaving a review, but I received several followup emails for feedback where the "positive feedback" button leads you to Google, and the "negative feedback" button leads directly to the company. You wanted negative feedback, you got it! Just here, in the "positive feedback" section. I scheduled an appointment to get two teeth pulled and per their instruction took the day off work because I would be sedated. They said I would need a ride home, I asked if an Uber would be okay, they said yes. I got to the office on the day of the appointment and they immediately informed me that I needed someone to be with me at the 2-hour appointment the entire time and drive me home, so we would not be able to do anything but a pre-screen imaging that day. No apology. A little flustered because I took the day off work, but misunderstandings happen. Then we did the quick imaging and the dental tech spoke to me heavily in medical jargon regarding the procedure, I had to ask her to define several technical terms before I just gave up and let her talk to me about how smart she was for a while. After that, I waited by myself for a long time and finally after being there for a full hour the doctor came in and talked to me for about five minutes. Then, the quote. For two pulled teeth, two bone grafts, and two implants the total estimate was $19,000 (they gave me a range so I averaged the figures). That seemed crazy enough to me that I also calculated the cost of a pint of whiskey and a set of needlenose pliers. I looked up the average cost of this procedure and called around instead. The next quote I got was $8K, and I quickly found another for $6K--another dentist with great reviews--and the procedure went swimmingly. I very rarely leave bad reviews (check my history), but the combination of price gouging, poor communication, the long wait to see a doctor, and finally the misleading email meant to siphon negative reviews away from here got me to share my experience. This place has good reviews and they were nice people, but especially if you're getting a bigger procedure I would urge you to shop around.

Friendly and very knowledgeable staff. Location is dicey and unfortunately has a chronic urine odor. My main grief with this business involves their insane, jaw-dropping prices for procedures. Gave me a $3000+ quote for a gum procedure. I'll just find a different dentist that won't overcharge me. I mean.... $700 for just the REQUIRED after-procedure roof guard was the straw that broke the cammel's back. They had the gall to offer me an interest-free payment plan option. Maybe just don't rip off your customers?
