About Timber Dental East Burnside
Timber Dental East Burnside provides dental care on Southeast Sandy Boulevard in the Southeast Portland area of Portland, Oregon. Implants are considered by many dentists the most durable way to replace a missing tooth, since the titanium post fuses with the jaw bone over several months and then supports a crown that functions much like a natural tooth. Enough healthy bone is the main prerequisite, and a graft can build that up first if needed.
Clear aligners straighten teeth through a series of custom, removable trays, each worn for one to two weeks before moving to the next in the sequence. They suit mild to moderate crowding and spacing well, and are worn roughly twenty to twenty-two hours a day for treatment to stay on schedule.
Root canal treatment removes infected or inflamed tissue from inside a tooth, cleans and seals the space, and allows the natural tooth to be kept rather than extracted. Its reputation for being painful is largely outdated — carried out under local anaesthetic, it typically relieves pain rather than causing it.
A crown covers an entire damaged tooth — used when too much structure is missing for a filling to hold reliably, whether from a large fracture, extensive decay, or after root canal treatment. It restores both the shape and the biting strength of the tooth underneath.
A bridge replaces one or more missing teeth by anchoring a false tooth to crowns placed on the teeth either side of the gap, creating a fixed replacement rather than a removable one. It is a longstanding alternative to an implant, particularly when the neighbouring teeth already need crowns.
Professional teeth whitening uses a peroxide-based gel, applied under supervision at a strength stronger than anything sold over the counter, to lift years of staining from coffee, tea, red wine, and tobacco. It works on natural enamel only — existing crowns, veneers, and fillings keep whatever shade they were made in. I enjoyed the visit. Great people for sure. Dr Dar was excellent. Great first impressions. I hope I can accomplish some of my goals!
the Root canel was as smooth as you can ever imagine, very professional and friendly and explains all procedure in detail before operation and after
Surprise billing is just not acceptable. The hygienists here are lovely, but this is the second time I’ve received a surprise bill after supposedly paying in full at my appointment. I’ve been going here for years, but ready to find a new office due to billing.
I had a terrible experience with Timber Dental. In my opinion, they seem to care more about making money than providing the best care for their patients. They did work on my teeth, but the pain never went away. Instead of solving the problem, I was left frustrated and disappointed. The biggest red flag was when they referred me to an oral surgeon to remove a wisdom tooth that they claimed required surgery, with an estimated cost of $3,500–$5,000. I got a second opinion from another dentist, who removed the exact same wisdom tooth for $120 in a simple procedure. It’s been five months since then, and I’ve had absolutely no problems. This wasn’t my first disappointing experience with this clinic. About four years ago, I went there and one of their dentists decided that one of my teeth needed to be extracted. Even today, I’m still not convinced that removing that tooth was the right decision. After everything I went through this year, it has only made me question that recommendation even more. Choosing Timber Dental was one of my biggest mistakes. I only went there because they were in my insurance network. Based on my experience, I strongly recommend getting a second opinion before agreeing to any major or expensive dental treatment.
Would recommend this place to anybody. I have high anxiety going to the dentist and they made me feel very comfortable. Doctor Afshar was amazing and his assistant calmed me through the whole procedure. They were just incredible!!!!
Rose was amazing and went above and beyond answering all of my questions and making sure I felt comfortable. All of the staff I met here were super helpful and easy to talk to. I recommend this place if you have any anxiety about going to the dentist.
Dr. Nguyen was amazing, very helpful, thoughtful, and cared about my comfortability. Raina was very kind and helpful as well. Adrianna is a total gem, she cares so much, and tried to help me find the best way to budget my needs. Overall staff is sweet and supportive. Genuinely feel cared about.
Never coming back to timber dental. Today was the last straw when they wouldn’t let me keep my appointment by the minute. I was stuck in traffic so they called to confirm I was on my way, and I walked in right at cut off (15min). I’m not sure what difference one minute makes at this point. They really wasted an hour of my time driving all the way here for nothing and had no consideration in offering arrangements. On another note, I think the dental care is fine, and the medical staff is kind and competent. The doctors and hygienists have always been really good. My problem is with the business and the administrative side. First, the « prescription » toothpaste they sell costs me half the price and is OTC in Canada which I think is unbelievable (sold for 30$ at this clinic). Regarding the front desk, I have found them unhelpful if not incompetent and rude on multiple occasions. They called my dad to confirm my appointment even though my phone number was on file? Last year, our insurance reimbursed hundreds of dollars more than anticipated and they made getting that money back very difficult. My family member received orthodontic treatment at the other office and the doctor referred her to the ONLY out of network doctor they have. It feels like they focus on maximizing profits from customers rather than caring for their patients.
So I had my first appointment today at Timber Dental and I was a little nervous! I switched clinics because my job had switched dental insurance companies and I wasn’t really sure what to expect from a new place (and on top of that I was late!!! Such a bad way to make a first impression.) I have to say though, this was a net positive. Everyone was so friendly, kind and understanding and I have to just sing praises for my Hygienist Lou! (I hope I spelled that right.) Lou was genuinely so funny, made the whole appointment feel like a breeze. She also gave me some excellent advice in regards to flossing, and even how to brush hard to reach parts of my teeth. I told her I had issues with my gag reflex and she was very attentive, light handed and came up with creative ways to distract me from the issue as well. Probably the best hygienist I’ve ever seen, I have to give her a 10/10. I’d highly recommend this place.
I had a lovely experience here. Melissa really took the time to make sure I was comfortable and well informed regarding each step of my new patient appointment. They were able to accommodate a same-day cavity filling and schedule me for a cleaning within two days. Dr. Nguyen was also very kind and made me feel at ease. As a team they were thorough and professional. P.S. It was really comforting being able to watch a baby animal documentary during my filling, thank you!
