About Universal Dental Plan
Universal Dental Plan is a general dentistry practice located at 20 Park Plaza, Suite 1401, in Boston’s Back Bay neighborhood near the Theater District and the Boston Common. The practice serves patients from Back Bay, Bay Village, the South End, Chinatown, and surrounding central Boston areas in the 02116 zip code.
General dental care at Universal Dental Plan includes the preventive services that underpin long-term oral health. Routine professional cleanings remove calculus and plaque that home care alone does not address. Comprehensive examinations track the condition of teeth and gums over time, screen for oral pathology, and provide a foundation for any restorative treatment that may be needed.
Restorative dental services are provided for patients with cavities, fractured teeth, or aging restorations. Fillings and crowns are used to restore structural integrity and function. The practice discusses restorative options before scheduling any procedure, outlining the materials and approach to be used and what patients can expect during and after treatment.
New patients at Universal Dental Plan can expect a first appointment that includes review of dental and medical history, comprehensive clinical examination, and radiographs as clinically indicated. The dentist walks through all findings with the patient before any treatment is recommended, and the treatment plan — including options — is presented clearly so patients understand their dental health and what steps may be appropriate.
The Park Plaza address near the Theater District and Boston Common is highly accessible by public transit. Arlington Station on the MBTA Green Line is steps away, and Back Bay Station on the commuter rail is within walking distance. I discovered that UDP at the end of the contract year automatically billed my credit card for another year without any notice to me. I am in the process of disputing it and have notified my credit card company. If UDP doesn't resolve this I will take it to the Attorney General's Office. Beware of their Billing Practices. UPDATE: They did respond to a Voicemail I left and have cancelled my account. I told them I did not appreciate a billing to my Credit Card without authorization. They claimed to have emailed me. I never received an email and if I did I should have had the option to renew or cancel. I was also not impressed with the limited number of participating Dentists in my area, especially Endodontists. Update 11/24/17....today I received their notice of renewal.......8 days after they billed me for the renewal. They did refund me, but without reservation I would caution against wasting money. Their specialists are really limited and specialists who seem to be hard up for referrals.
This place blew my mind the day I signed up. They are partnered with truly the kindest of staff of any clinic i have ever been to--and I've been to my fair share. The dentists are equally kind and actually spend TIME with you. But they aren't just nice, they provide a gloriously refreshing alternative to health insurance. I am happy to feel cared for and proud to be a part of such a great model of health care. I recommend Universal Dental Plan for anyone tired of battling insurance companies. They even welcome chronic illness!
One of the risks that you encounter being a professional musician is the difficulty of finding dental insurance. All of us in the community know of several people who have been crushed financially by a medical emergency they had no protection against. U
