About Utah Facial & Oral Surgery - Salt Lake City- Dr. Nathan Adams and Dr. Michael Gladwell

Oral and maxillofacial surgery is the specialty that sits between dentistry and medicine, and its referrals arrive from both directions: a dentist who needs an implant site built, an orthodontist who needs a jaw repositioned, an emergency department that has stabilized a facial fracture. Dr. Nathan Adams and Dr. Michael Gladwell handle that range from the St. Mark's East Medical Building on 3900 South, covering dental implants and full-arch restoration, wisdom teeth removal, routine and surgical extractions, bone grafting, exposure of impacted teeth, corrective jaw surgery, facial trauma repair and oral pathology.

If you are weighing this office against a general dentist for the same extraction, the deciding factors are usually anatomy and anesthesia. A tooth that is fully erupted with straightforward roots does not need a surgeon. A lower third molar overlapping the nerve canal, a broken root tip, a tooth that has been infected for months, or a patient who simply cannot sit through it awake are the cases where surgical training and in-office anesthesia change both the experience and the risk profile. Ask which level of sedation is being planned, and what recovery looks like for your specific tooth rather than for wisdom teeth in general.

Full-arch work raises a question most patients only meet halfway through: who owns which part of the case. A surgeon places the fixtures and manages healing, while the crown, bridge or final prosthesis is frequently made by the general dentist or prosthodontist who referred you. That splits one treatment across two offices, two schedules and two invoices, and neither side can price the other side's half. The surgical estimate you leave with here covers extractions, grafting, the implants themselves and the anesthesia, not the teeth that eventually sit on them. Ask each office for its own written breakdown, ask who signs off on the plan before surgery, and ask which number you call if a screw loosens or a prosthesis chips two years later. Settling that in advance is worth more than shaving a few hundred dollars off either estimate.

The address is 1250 East 3900 South, suite 360, on the St. Mark's Hospital campus in Holladay, which is useful if your case is being coordinated with medical care and easy to reach from Millcreek, the East Bench and Cottonwood Heights. Spanish-language service is available at this office. Hours vary by day: Friday opens earliest at 7am, Tuesday and Thursday run 8am to 5pm, and Monday does not start until 9am. Two sister offices in South Jordan and Lehi cover the south valley and Utah County.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do you have Spanish-speaking staff?
Yes, Spanish-language service is available at the Salt Lake City office. Surgical consent, anesthesia instructions and post-operative care are exactly the conversations where a language gap causes real problems, so mention when booking that you would prefer Spanish and the visit can be arranged with the right person present. The practice also runs offices in South Jordan and Lehi if either is closer to you.
Who makes the final teeth after the implants are placed?
It depends on how your case is set up. A surgical office places the implants and looks after healing, and in referral cases the crown, bridge or full-arch prosthesis is usually made by the general dentist who sent you. That means two offices, two fee schedules and two appointment tracks for what feels like one treatment. Settle at the consultation which office handles the restorative side and who you call if the prosthesis loosens later.
Is the office inside the hospital?
It is in the St. Mark's East Medical Building at 1250 East 3900 South, suite 360, on the St. Mark's Hospital campus in Holladay rather than inside the hospital itself. That proximity helps if your care is being coordinated with a physician. Hours differ noticeably by day, with Friday opening earliest at 7am and Monday not starting until 9am, so confirm your time before driving over.

I got my wisdom teeth removed here. The staff and doctors were all very kind. Scheduling an appointment was super easy, and they made sure to give us all the information we needed. The day of the surgery they were super quick!! They made sure I was comfortable and talked me though what was going on. Everyone there was super kind!! I would definitely recommend going here, at least for wisdom teeth. It was super affordable after insurance. Pain wise, it was just more uncomfortable than painful. I would rate it overall a 4.7/10 I had a wonderful experience!! Definitely would recommend!! 😋

(No pain after wisdom extraction) I would recommend this office a million times! From the moment I walked in, the front desk staff was welcoming and kind. I walked in so nervous, but Dr. Galdwell and his staff took the time to explain everything and made sure I felt comfortable and at ease throughout the entire procedure. They were patient, attentive, and genuinely cared about how I was feeling. The whole experience was smooth and professional, and I truly appreciate how well they treated me. I couldn’t have asked for a better experience, definitely the best in Utah!

Office and clinical staff were very nice and helpful; I was in and out just like I wanted! So thankful for my experience and great care. I would recommend to anyone who needs oral surgery to go here. I couldn't have asked for a better visit! Dr. Gladwell was very kind, friendly, and professional. I could even have my earphones to listen to music while he took my wisdom teeth out (and he let me keep them)!

Dr. Adams and his team are incredible! I had my wisdom teeth extracted here and was very nervous because a previous consult with a surgeon elsewhere made me think the procedure would be very difficult and could have all sorts of complications involved. After consulting with Dr. Adams my mind was put at ease, though I was still nervous since this was my first surgery ever and the first time I was put under anesthesia. The team made me feel very comfortable the day of the surgery, and it was over before I knew it. Coming out of anesthesia was like waking up from a nice nap, and recovery has been very easy. Would recommend to anyone!
