About Valleygate Dental Surgery Center
Valleygate Dental Surgery Center operates on Litho Place in the Terry Sanford area of Fayetteville, North Carolina. At the core of a general dental practice is preventive and restorative care: checkups, professional cleanings, fillings, and screening for decay and gum disease before either becomes a bigger problem. It is the kind of appointment most people need on a routine schedule rather than only when something hurts.
Day-to-day oral health still comes down to the basics between visits — brushing twice daily with fluoride toothpaste, cleaning between the teeth, and limiting how often sugary food and drink appear through the day matters more than the total amount eaten at once. Regular professional care is what catches whatever those habits do not.
Digital X-rays are a routine part of dental care because they show what a visual exam alone cannot — decay forming between teeth, bone loss below the gumline, and how developing adult teeth are positioned in children. They use a low radiation dose and are taken on a schedule matched to individual risk rather than at every single visit.
Left untreated, small dental problems tend not to stay small. A minor cavity that would have been a straightforward filling can progress to needing root canal treatment and a crown, and early gum inflammation that would have reversed with a good cleaning can progress toward bone loss around the teeth. Catching things early is generally the difference in both effort and cost.
Continuity matters in dental care — seeing the same practice over time means your history, X-rays, and any patterns in your oral health are already on file, rather than starting from scratch at each visit. That familiarity is part of what a regular dental home offers beyond any single appointment.
Dental anxiety is common, and most practices are used to working with nervous patients — through clear explanations of what is about to happen, a slower pace where needed, and sedation options for patients who want them. Avoiding the dentist out of anxiety tends to make eventual treatment more involved, not less. They took very good care of my baby!!! My son had dental surgery and he didn't have any complications before or after surgery.
First and foremost I would like to give honor to God for leading me here to meet some wonderful people. Dr.Reed the surgeon that worked on my son and Dr.Edwards that works alongside with the Anesthesiologist team were in my baby hands today . When I tell you because of the worry I had on my mind from past situations other dentistries had I felt such a relief .For one the place smelt so fresh and clean 10/10 . I walked into the place and it instantly brought a weight off . This is my first time I’ve experienced this as a new mom and so with my son going under medication was a little triggering for me but I can just tell when people have an anointing and gift over their lives. Im so grateful for this team and I thank each of you for taking such good care of my baby. Also huge shoutout to the Nurse Julia for the after care she has a super sweet soul and I appreciate you . But again these doctors truly are amazing , and I love you guys wholeheartedly. Hopefully we will not see you guys again lol we will be working extra hard to take care of Kanoa’s teeth! God bless this facility and bless the people that are in it abundantly :) Thank You !
Nurse Tori, Dr Edwards, Dr Lee, & Dr Dunston were wonderful with explaining the procedure and helping me process the information. Afterwards, nurse Julie was absolutely amazing with helping me calm down after seeing my daughter post-op. I was very emotional and did not know what to expect. She calmed me down and gave me comfort.
Pattern of Negligence, Dishonesty, and Disrespect Toward Patients This is not the first issue we have had with this dental surgery center. I have personally experienced multiple problems over time, and this latest incident confirms a pattern, not a one-off mistake. The office lied outright, claiming they called my phone when no calls were made. This is a business phone that was used continuously all day. There were no missed calls, no voicemails—nothing. I went so far as to contact my provider and obtain a full, detailed call activity report, which confirms zero incoming calls from their number. They also completely failed to communicate with both my child’s pediatrician and pulmonologist, who are with UNC. Both physicians were stunned by how disorganized and poorly managed communication was within this group. Despite their own failures, the appointment was canceled without any prior notification. Then, after acknowledging they had made a mistake, they had the audacity to imply that because my child is on Medicaid, rescheduling somehow “didn’t matter.” That comment alone speaks volumes about how patients are viewed here. It is nearly impossible to reach anyone by phone, and we were forced to jump through hoops that were entirely unnecessary and entirely of their own making. Before trusting this office with your child’s care, I strongly encourage you to do your own Google search. Look at what has happened at other North Carolina locations operated by this group. The complaints are there, and they tell a consistent story. If you value accountability, transparency, and basic human decency—find another provider. No parent should have to fight this hard for competent communication, especially when it involves their child.
Dr. Edwards, Dr. Michael and her lovely assistants took amazing care of my son during his surgery. Made me feel more at peace with how caring and loving they were from start to finish. Thank you much and stay blessed !!!
I have nothing but great things to say about the surgical team. Dr.Pozas is a sweet and personable surgeon, the nurses were patient and knowledgeable and the anesthesiologist was detailed and accommodating to our child’s allergy. The procedure went exactly as they described and we were able to wait in the car for comfort. I would highly recommend them.
