About Vista Hills Family Dental
Vista Hills Family Dental operates on Weston Brent Lane in the Vista Hills Park area of El Paso, Texas. A family dental practice sees a range of ages under one roof, which for most households means fewer separate appointments across different offices. It typically covers routine checkups and restorative treatment for both children and adults, with referrals out for anything requiring specialist training.
Affordable care means the practice sets out to make treatment accessible on a self-pay basis or through a payment arrangement, rather than assuming every patient arrives with comprehensive insurance. It is worth asking directly what options exist before assuming a needed treatment is out of reach.
Left untreated, small dental problems tend not to stay small. A minor cavity that would have been a straightforward filling can progress to needing root canal treatment and a crown, and early gum inflammation that would have reversed with a good cleaning can progress toward bone loss around the teeth. Catching things early is generally the difference in both effort and cost.
Continuity matters in dental care — seeing the same practice over time means your history, X-rays, and any patterns in your oral health are already on file, rather than starting from scratch at each visit. That familiarity is part of what a regular dental home offers beyond any single appointment.
Dental anxiety is common, and most practices are used to working with nervous patients — through clear explanations of what is about to happen, a slower pace where needed, and sedation options for patients who want them. Avoiding the dentist out of anxiety tends to make eventual treatment more involved, not less.
Children benefit from starting dental visits early, generally by their first birthday or within six months of the first tooth coming through, mainly so they become familiar with the setting before any treatment is actually needed. Establishing that routine early tends to make ongoing checkups far less stressful for both child and parent. I to had a bad experience here with dr Cobos he’s not a good dentist I would never go back there again ! After the owner dr. Alvarez responded to my comment, I called and left my name twice with the receptionist, and he never called me back ! figures
My first visit to this dental clinic was highly impressed of the building and high tech, thought to myself this must be expensive to maintain and I am sure at patient's expense. My first impression was shot down with all the xrays taken from panoramic to full mouth bite wings, insurance money guzzler. Not going back and not taking my family either...they even charged credit fee to my HSA card. I scheduled an appointment at another facility, told them what happed at Vista Hills dental and their response was "we've heard about that place"...Find yourself a dental place that cares about saving your teeth versus your wallet.
Worst service ever made an appointment specifically because I had an infection in my tooth when I saw doctor Alvarez right away he throws his sales pitch about a root canal that’s all he ever says and wants to do because it’s expensive he then has the front lady go over same sales pitch and after I told her I didn’t have the money for root canal or CT scan but I would find a way later on he refused to prescribe me antibiotics I was told by hygienist that Dr Alvarez said no antibiotics since I didn’t took a treatment plan, I work for a hospital and the least we do for our patients is prescribed themm antibiotics if they have an infection. Worst dentist ever don’t waste your time or money there is other better options. I will take my business elsewhere.
Bogus charges ! Every services done were paid upfront . You’re not a dentist office that would perform a service without payment first ! Crooks !
They wouldn't schedule a cleaning because my bite was causing issues and wanted me to see a specialist which insurance won't cover. I wanted to gey a night guard and dentist said that would help but....guess I won't get a cleaning at all. Was kind of a waste of time going.
My wife and I came here for a few years. It started off great. Minimal wait time and the staff were nice. Over time, the wait time got longer which is not a big deal. However the front desk staff were not as friendly as before and the dental hygienists were hit or miss. The last straw that caused us to leave was when my wife was pregnant, a male dental hygienist was very pushy and insisting my wife get x-rays done after she repeatedly told him she did not want to and didnt feel comfortable getting them while pregnant for her own reasons. Keep in mind that she had already had xrays done no more than 6 months ago. There was no pain/concerns with her teeth and nothing had changed from her last visit. This was just a regular cleaning. The hygienist then told my wife that they couldn't do her cleaning unless she signed a waiver and had the xray done and that she would be putting our baby's health at risk by not getting regular cleanings. I'm pretty sure this guy isn't qualified to be giving my pregnant wife that kind of medical advice. Ended up leaving and canceling both our appointments as we were relocating anyway. Overall, very unprofessional and rude. Disappointed in what was once a great dental practice.
Samantha is a wonderful hygienist. She is professional, has a tender hand for performing my dental cleaning and a tender heart for how she treats her patient. Dr. Cobos was no less than awesome like always. Rosa, who handled my exit, was as always, friendly and efficient. I appreciate the care I receive at Vista
My experience was awesome from start to finish. The staff was amazingly courteous and professional. The atmosphere was outstanding along with the friendliness. Dr. Cobos was fantastic and answered my questions and gave me his professional input without pressure of any kind. From the front desk to financial staff, i am personally in awe of the kindness and understanding. I will definitely be a returning patient of Vista Hills Family Dental.
I just want to take a moment to thank Rosa, Lourdes, and Dr. Alvarez for the incredible care I received. Honestly, I didn’t even want to come in because of my concern, but from the moment I walked in, you all made me feel comfortable and supported. You listened without judgment, gave me clear options, and most importantly, made me feel truly heard and seen. I walked out not only with peace of mind, but also with so much gratitude for the kindness, patience, and professionalism you showed me. You turned what I thought would be an uncomfortable experience into one that reminded me how compassionate dental care can be. Thank you all for the top-tier service and genuine care.
