About Walker Pediatric Dentistry
Most of what makes children dread the dentist is the drill: the vibration, the noise, and the numb lip that lingers afterwards. Walker Pediatric Dentistry uses a Solea dental laser for a share of its restorative work, which removes decay without that vibration and, on many small cavities, without an injection at all. The office sits at 1434 East 4500 South in Holladay, a block west of another children's practice on the same street, and draws from Holladay, Murray and Sugar House. It is pediatric-only, which means the whole room, from chair size to appointment length to the way an explanation is phrased, is built around patients under eighteen.
A first visit starts with prevention rather than treatment. Expect an exam, a cleaning, fluoride, and a frank conversation about which grooves are worth sealing before they ever decay. The practice frames its own work as setting a foundation and watching growth, which in daily terms means tracking the eruption sequence year over year and flagging spacing problems early. When treatment is needed, the range runs through sealants and fillings, pulp therapy on primary teeth, crowns, extractions, frenectomy and orthodontics.
Behavior management is treated as a clinical skill here rather than an afterthought, and when it is not enough there are two escalations: oral sedation in the office, and hospital dentistry under general anesthesia for children whose treatment needs are extensive or whose medical situation makes chairside care unsafe. That second option is worth knowing about, because not every children's office offers it, and it can spare a family a series of failed appointments.
The schedule is compact — Monday through Thursday, 8:00 to 3:00, with Friday handled by arrangement — so morning slots go first and appointments generally have to be carved out of the school day rather than after it. Most insurance plans and Medicaid are accepted. A realistic note on the laser: it is excellent on early and moderate decay, but a deep cavity or a tooth needing a crown will still call for anesthetic, and no laser changes that.

My grandchildren go there and they love the Dr and staff.
Excellent place for your kids to get any dental work done. Friendly and patient staff, which we appreciate what with our rambunctious kids and all their energetic spirits. Dr. Walker and the rest of his staff are incredible at what they do and we feel very comfortable trusting our kids with them so much so that we have all 5 of our kids permanently booked with them as their dental provider. The clinic is also a major plus. Very clean, neat, inviting for little kids as they have a dedicated play area for the kids to read books, play puzzle games and other sorts of toys and also a TV set that plays a Disney film all the time which the children certainly enjoy. They also have TV sets mounted near the ceiling for the kids to watch their choice of animated film that helps distract them from all the dental work. We’ve never had a problem in the full year we’ve been here in northern Utah. We currently live in Salt Lake City but we don’t mind making the 20 minute drive each time the kids have their appointments because we prefer it here. We trust it as parents and our kids love it! Absolutely recommend!
We took our 3 month old son to Dr. Walkers office to get his mouth checked for a lip, cheek, and tongue tie. Dr. Walker was awesome, kind, compassionate and most of all honest. We were in and out in 30 minutes and our son’s lip tie was taken care of. I would recommend him to anyone and everyone. Stand up guy! We are forever grateful for him!
Omg best dentista ever… so sweet with my babies and gentle…. He answer all my question, and the best think speaks Spanish!!! Yay!! Hahaha and his helper and receptionist are awesome! Thanks!
We’ve been going years to this place and they’ve always been so friendly and attentive! I always appreciate the honest clean work that Dr. Walker always does for my kids as well.
The best dentist, I have gone here and they are very gentle with your teeth and they also have many flavors of toothpaste to choose from, which is great. The staff are so nice and welcoming, just a great environment overall!
Dr. Walker and the staff are amazing. We always have a great experience every time we come in for an appointment. We fully trust them to provide excellent care for our kids. We’ve been coming here for 11 years and even drive an hour just to stay with them as our children’s dentist. We highly recommend Dr. Walker Pediatric Dentistry.
Exceptional service. My son loosened his front tooth and they got me in for an emergency appointment. The girls were great with him and the doctor was very informative. Would recommend and will be back. Thank you guys.
Dr. Walker and his team are so great. It’s hard to find the right words. He’s so skilled but also just so easy to talk to. All of my kids are comfortable here. Dr Walker and the team make it so easy whether it’s just a checkup and cleaning or restorative procedural work. My wife and I recommend his practice to everyone. No reservations. The absolute best!
