About Water Tower Endodontics

Water Tower Endodontics operates on North Michigan Avenue in the Streeterville area of Chicago, Illinois. Root canal treatment removes infected or inflamed tissue from inside a tooth, cleans and seals the space, and allows the natural tooth to be kept rather than extracted. Its reputation for being painful is largely outdated — carried out under local anaesthetic, it typically relieves pain rather than causing it.

Left untreated, small dental problems tend not to stay small. A minor cavity that would have been a straightforward filling can progress to needing root canal treatment and a crown, and early gum inflammation that would have reversed with a good cleaning can progress toward bone loss around the teeth. Catching things early is generally the difference in both effort and cost.

Continuity matters in dental care — seeing the same practice over time means your history, X-rays, and any patterns in your oral health are already on file, rather than starting from scratch at each visit. That familiarity is part of what a regular dental home offers beyond any single appointment.

Dental anxiety is common, and most practices are used to working with nervous patients — through clear explanations of what is about to happen, a slower pace where needed, and sedation options for patients who want them. Avoiding the dentist out of anxiety tends to make eventual treatment more involved, not less.

Children benefit from starting dental visits early, generally by their first birthday or within six months of the first tooth coming through, mainly so they become familiar with the setting before any treatment is actually needed. Establishing that routine early tends to make ongoing checkups far less stressful for both child and parent.

Payment and insurance arrangements vary by practice and by treatment, so it is worth asking directly what is covered and what options exist for anything that is not, rather than assuming either way. Getting that clarified before treatment starts avoids surprises once it is underway. What services does Water Tower Endodontics offer?

How do I know if I need a root canal?
Common signs are lingering pain after something hot or cold, pain when biting down, a tooth that darkens, or a persistent pimple-like spot on the gum. Diagnosis needs an examination and usually an X-ray, since these can point to other problems too.
Is a root canal as painful as people say?
The reputation is largely outdated. The procedure is carried out under local anaesthetic and is usually no more uncomfortable than having a filling. The severe pain people associate with root canals is generally the infection beforehand, which the treatment relieves.
What happens during a routine dental examination?
The dentist checks the teeth for decay, examines the gums, looks at any existing fillings and crowns, and screens the soft tissues. X-rays are taken when there is a reason to look between or beneath teeth.

I saw Dr. Kaushik for a root canal, and he did an absolutely phenomenal job. I was terrified because of past dental experiences and reading info about the procedure, but I did not feel a thing. He made sure I was fully numbed and comfortable before the procedure. The entire staff was professional and kind, and I am very thankful for the excellent patient care I received. I would recommend Vertex/ Watertower Endodontics to anyone needing to get this procedure done.

I was referred here for my first root canal recently, and I was pretty nervous about it. I had a wonderful experience, and would recommend to others! PROS -- Dr. Kaushik was expert; best dental anesthesia I've ever experienced, and was very gentle, informative, professional, and skilled. He crushed it. -- The team was very nice. I happened to be going through some drama with my insurance carrier, and they went above and beyond in being understanding and compassionate to me. It really means a lot! -- The environment is very low-stress and conducive to the work. They have really great equipment, all in good repair. CONS -- Can be tricky to find! I learned the hard way that Water Tower Place has TWO different elevator bays, and the one you need to take is kind of tucked away from sight, so unless you're told about it, it's hard to find.

I was very pleased that I had my root canal procedure with Dr Comet. Before the procedure, he explained all my options and once I decided to have the root canal surgery he explained everything that he would be doing. Even though I just met him, he made me feel very comfortable which is what I needed because I was very nervous about having the procedure. Along with Dr Comet, I was very impressed with the rest of the staff by how nice they were as well as professional I had always heard good things about this practice and now I can see why.

I can’t say enough good things about Dr Commet and the rest of the staff! I was experiencing resorption and opted to do a root canal to try and keep the tooth for a bit. Dr. Commet went though all options for care and was totally transparent and informative. The root canal was a breeze and the team eased my dental anxiety. He walked through everything he was doing and why. The office followed up and asked how I was doing the day after as well. Would highly recommend!

Dr. Commet and his office were great. My appointment was for 2:15. I arrived on time and I was in the chair by 2:18 and the doctor was examining me moments later. His treatment was thorough and effective. I found him pleasant, compassionate and utterly professional. He was right on with what I would feel and experience during and after my procedure. Also, I loved the playlist playing throughout the office.

I had a root canal treatment from Dr. Wang which went like a breeze. Dr Wang has a special talent to make you feel comfortable and is an expert in her job. The treatment proved very helpful, I was rid of my pain and the tooth restoration to normalcy was quick with no post complications. They have very advanced equipment and the clinic is well equipped. The staff was polite, well informed and helpful. Thanks to Dr. Wang for a thoroughly professional job.
