About Wellness Centered Dentistry

Based on Village Plaza Loop in Eugene, Oregon, Wellness Centered Dentistry is a dental practice serving the area. Holistic, or biological, dentistry applies standard dental diagnosis and treatment within an approach that emphasises material choice and conservative treatment, considering oral health as connected to the body more broadly rather than treating the mouth in isolation.

Digital X-rays are a routine part of dental care because they show what a visual exam alone cannot — decay forming between teeth, bone loss below the gumline, and how developing adult teeth are positioned in children. They use a low radiation dose and are taken on a schedule matched to individual risk rather than at every single visit.

Left untreated, small dental problems tend not to stay small. A minor cavity that would have been a straightforward filling can progress to needing root canal treatment and a crown, and early gum inflammation that would have reversed with a good cleaning can progress toward bone loss around the teeth. Catching things early is generally the difference in both effort and cost.

Continuity matters in dental care — seeing the same practice over time means your history, X-rays, and any patterns in your oral health are already on file, rather than starting from scratch at each visit. That familiarity is part of what a regular dental home offers beyond any single appointment.

Dental anxiety is common, and most practices are used to working with nervous patients — through clear explanations of what is about to happen, a slower pace where needed, and sedation options for patients who want them. Avoiding the dentist out of anxiety tends to make eventual treatment more involved, not less.

Children benefit from starting dental visits early, generally by their first birthday or within six months of the first tooth coming through, mainly so they become familiar with the setting before any treatment is actually needed. Establishing that routine early tends to make ongoing checkups far less stressful for both child and parent. What is the difference between holistic and cosmetic dentistry?
They overlap but are not the same thing. Cosmetic dentistry is about appearance specifically, while holistic dentistry is a broader philosophy about material choice and treating the mouth as connected to overall health, which can apply to any treatment including cosmetic work.
What is holistic dentistry?
It is an approach that considers oral health in the context of overall health and tends to emphasise material choices and conservative treatment. The underlying clinical standards for diagnosing and treating dental disease remain the same.
How often should I have a dental check-up?
Every six months suits most people. If you have gum disease or a history of decay a dentist may suggest coming more often. The point of regular visits is mostly to catch problems while they are still small and cheap to treat.

Dear Dr. Whicker, thank you and your wonderful team for making me smile again. It's truly an honor to be your patient, to witness and experience the Art of Dentistry in its highest form. Thank you very much.

I think I became a patient of Rob Whicker's at Wellness Centered Dentistry early in 2016. Rob & the staff made a very positive impression from the start. I'm fortunate that Rob is much younger than me because I don't want to find another dentist. Whether I'm getting routine dental care or needing Rob's expertise with something else, I'm completely relaxed, confident, and very satisfied with Wellness Centered Dentistry.

Wellness Centered Dentistry has been amazing. The entire team is awesome. Dr. W is an absolute gem, Moved back to Eugene 3 yrs ago, and had major dental issues I was pretty anxious about. It’s never fun looking for a new dentist, but this team of pros put me at ease FAST. My expectations have been met every single time without disappointment. Flexible times for appointments , quiet atmosphere and friendly staff. My teeth feel great, and I look forward to my visits. I recommend highly.

Worth every penny! I am so grateful I was able to get all my mercury fillings out and all my teeth touched up and well cared for. I’ve never been so excited to go get my teeth cleaned. Refuse to go to the free OHP dentist because this office and the staff are so friendly and professional. My oral care has improved so much because they care and give me great tips on how to tend my teeth and gums well at home. Truly wonderful!

I cannot say enough wonderful things about Wellness Center Dentistry. The atmosphere the moment you walk through the door is welcoming and comforting. Lizzie at the front desk is amazing and has a wonderful personality and easy to talk to. She makes you feel comfortable and that's important at a dentist office. Dr Whicker is kind, patient and explains everything so that you understand what's going on. All the other staff and dental hygienist are professional, sweet and knowledgeable. They make you so comfortable,. I had Christy for my first deep cleaning and I was very nervous because I had a bad experience at a previous dentist office. I also had a brain injury several years back and I have a reverse cervical, jaw issues and nerve damage. So I was very nervous about extended time with my mouth open and the comfort of having to lay back and the lack of comfort of it and how it would make me feel. She was so understanding, kind, gentle and patient. Checked on me all through it making sure I was okay, asking if I needed to stop for moments. It was and has been a positive, wonderful experience. And at the end of your visit, you leave with a beautiful carnation. 🙂

I had a really great experience at Wellness Centered Dentistry. From the moment I walked in, the staff made me feel welcome and at ease. Robert G. Whicker and Team were professional, knowledgeable, and took the time to explain everything clearly. I really appreciated how they checked in throughout the appointment to make sure I was comfortable. It’s obvious they care about their patients and take pride in their work. I would absolutely recommend this practice to anyone looking for a dentist who is skilled, kind, and truly puts patients first!

I love Wellness Centered Dentistry. The entire staff is very well trained and knowledgeable; and they are friendly and easy to work with. They listen to my concerns and provide options when appropriate. I am also appreciative of their concern for my overall health, the evidence of which includes that they provide a mercury free environment. I have had several crowns installed and I was very impressed that Dr. Whicker himself called me at home to make sure I was doing okay afterwards. I highly recommend Wellness Centered Dentistry to anyone who needs dental work done.
