!!!!!UPDATE!!!!!! After posting my review, I spent time reading through many of the other patient reviews that I had not previously seen. What I found was genuinely concerning. Although every patient’s experience is different, I noticed recurring themes spanning multiple years, not just one or two isolated complaints. Numerous patients described unexpected charges, insurance verification issues, difficulties obtaining documentation, poor communication, inconsistent billing information, lack of follow-up, and feeling left without clear answers. Reading those reviews made me realize that my concerns regarding financial transparency and documentation may not be as isolated as I initially hoped. For that reason, I believe it is important for prospective patients to do their research before committing to treatment. Read the reviews carefully. Ask questions. Request copies of your financial estimate, treatment plan, insurance verification, and any documentation supporting your financial responsibility before authorizing treatment. I also continue to await the documentation I requested regarding my own account. If the office remains unwilling or unable to provide the records necessary to explain how my additional balance was determined, I will be filing formal complaints with the Arizona State Board of Dental Examiners and requesting that my insurance carrier review the insurance verification and billing process associated with my treatment. Transparency should never be optional when patients are making financial decisions involving thousands of dollars.
Buyer Beware: Get EVERYTHING in Writing Before Agreeing to Treatment. I never thought I would be writing a review like this, but after my experience, I feel other patients deserve to know what happened so they can protect themselves. In August 2025, I paid $2,387 through CareCredit after being presented with my treatment plan and financial estimate for a tooth extraction and implant. I relied on the financial information provided by the office when deciding to move forward with treatment. Months later, after my implant treatment had already been completed, I received an unexpected phone call informing me that I now owed an additional $570 because the office claimed MetLife had originally told them my implant would be covered, but later denied the claim since my tooth extraction had been completed under my previous insurance (Aetna). When I asked for the representative’s name, reference number, or any documentation from the insurance verification call that supposedly confirmed my coverage, I was told they did not have any of it. As someone who works in Patient Access within Surgical Services at a hospital, that immediately raised concerns for me. In my profession, insurance verification is documented with the representative’s name, reference number, date, and details of the conversation. That documentation protects both the patient and the provider. If there is ever a dispute, the insurance company can often locate the recorded call using that information. Here, I was simply told to trust that the insurance company gave incorrect information, but no documentation could be provided to support that claim. What disappointed me even more was being told that I should direct my frustration toward the insurance company rather than the office. I disagree. While insurance companies certainly make mistakes, I also expect a healthcare office handling thousands of dollars in treatment to maintain complete documentation of insurance verification before asking a patient to proceed. If the verification was documented properly, there should be evidence of who was spoken to and what was said. Without that, how is a patient supposed to determine what actually happened? I also requested copies of my treatment plan, insurance claims, Explanation of Benefits (EOB), denial information, payment history, and insurance verification documentation. I was told these records would be sent to me, but I never received them. When I attempted to follow up, I was unable to speak with the same billing representative again. This experience has left me questioning the level of financial transparency provided before treatment. Patients should never have to wonder months later whether the amount they were told to pay was actually accurate. My advice to anyone considering treatment here: * Ask for copies of your treatment plan and financial estimate before signing anything. * Request written documentation of insurance verification if your treatment depends on insurance coverage. * Ask detailed questions about what happens if insurance later denies the claim. * Keep copies of every document and every payment you make. I sincerely hope my situation was an isolated incident, but I believe patients deserve complete financial transparency before making decisions involving thousands of dollars. I am still waiting for documentation explaining how this balance arose before I can determine whether the additional charge is justified.
Hi, just so you don't get scammed, I went to an appointment and before going I asked the price of the consultation. On the day of the appointment they charged me triple what they had told me. They said they gave me a discount, but even then it wasn't what they initially said. They also do tests without asking beforehand and then charge you whatever they want. Plus, the doctor doesn't even examine you properly; he only looked at me for about a minute and then told me to do whatever he wanted. It's not worth it; they're only good at charging money. Be careful because even if you ask the price beforehand, they don't honor it, and once you're there they charge you whatever they want. Be careful.
Staff were friendly, and accommodating. Everything was explained well and the procedure was done quickly. Thank you!
Dr.Lamb, Nina and Kade Made me feel very safe comfortable. I was super nervous and they were so helpful. So warming so gentle. I love this place, and I would highly recommend it to anyone. Thank you for your great service.
Very patient friendly staff. Excellent dental care. My root canal therapy was painless and trouble-free. My referral to WVE&OS when I experienced trouble with a molar was a blessing.
I am an extremely satisfied patient of Dr. CARPENTER. We set up a plan of action to diagnose and take care of the problem. A lot of thought and research was performed . My surgery was done, I never felt any pain. I went in today after 3 weeks of recovery . Once again, when the sutures were removed, I remain pain free. All of the staff his, and assistant were courteous and always greated me with a smile. I love everything about the office and staff. I will continue my treatment, after a complete healing. I recommend Dr. CARPENTER. THANKS, Glenda Wells-Evans
Dr Carpenter is someone I have complete trust and respect for. He made a wry difficult extraction of my tooth very bearable. He is very kind and explained everything to me prior to the procedure. His assistant made me feel very comfortable and explained aftercare to me.
I cannot say enough great things about my experience at West Valley! I came in with an emergency situation, and Kelli Marie, the office manager, went above and beyond to get me worked in quickly. Not only was she incredibly efficient, but she also showed genuine compassion during a stressful time and made sure everything was handled properly with my insurance. From the moment I walked in, I felt taken care of. Fedra greeted me warmly and made me feel comfortable right away, which set the tone for the entire visit. Dr. Lamb was outstanding—extremely gentle, patient, and thorough in explaining everything, which really helped ease my nerves. I was originally referred to another office, but after a terrible initial phone experience, I decided to look elsewhere—and I’m so glad I did. West Valley exceeded every expectation. If you’re looking for a skilled, compassionate oral surgery team that truly cares about their patients, I highly recommend them!
