About Windy City Orthodontics - Lakeview

Based on North Lincoln Avenue in the Lake View area of Chicago, Illinois, Windy City Orthodontics - Lakeview is a dental practice serving the area. Clear aligners straighten teeth through a series of custom, removable trays, each worn for one to two weeks before moving to the next in the sequence. They suit mild to moderate crowding and spacing well, and are worn roughly twenty to twenty-two hours a day for treatment to stay on schedule.

Digital X-rays are a routine part of dental care because they show what a visual exam alone cannot — decay forming between teeth, bone loss below the gumline, and how developing adult teeth are positioned in children. They use a low radiation dose and are taken on a schedule matched to individual risk rather than at every single visit.

Left untreated, small dental problems tend not to stay small. A minor cavity that would have been a straightforward filling can progress to needing root canal treatment and a crown, and early gum inflammation that would have reversed with a good cleaning can progress toward bone loss around the teeth. Catching things early is generally the difference in both effort and cost.

Continuity matters in dental care — seeing the same practice over time means your history, X-rays, and any patterns in your oral health are already on file, rather than starting from scratch at each visit. That familiarity is part of what a regular dental home offers beyond any single appointment.

Dental anxiety is common, and most practices are used to working with nervous patients — through clear explanations of what is about to happen, a slower pace where needed, and sedation options for patients who want them. Avoiding the dentist out of anxiety tends to make eventual treatment more involved, not less. Do clear aligners hurt?
There is usually pressure and mild tenderness for a day or two each time you move to a new aligner in the series. That sensation is the teeth moving, and it typically eases as you get through each stage.
Can people tell I am wearing clear aligners?
They are considerably less noticeable than fixed braces, which is the main reason people choose them, though they are not completely invisible at close range. Small attachments bonded to some teeth can be faintly visible.
Is it normal for teeth to be sensitive to cold?
Mild, brief sensitivity is common and often relates to exposed root surfaces or worn enamel. Sensitivity that lingers after the cold is removed is more significant and worth having examined, as it can indicate the nerve is involved.

I’ve been a patient here for almost a year, and every visit has been a positive one. The orthodontist is thorough and takes time to explain what changes are happening. The staff is friendly, appointments stay organized, and I’ve never felt like just another name on a schedule. My smile is improving with every checkup.

If you’re going to get braces in your 40s you could do worse than Windy City Orthodontics. Dr. Pakravan is very good. He has a warm demeanor and a depth of knowledge I appreciate. His techs are equally kind and exceptionally skilled and professional. His front desk ladies have a keen attention to detail that represents the office as a whole well. I’ve never had a bad visit and I’ve been a frequent flyer of sorts.

We’ve been coming to see Dr. Pakravan for over a decade—since my oldest was 10, and now he’s 21—and I truly can’t say enough good things. The care has always been consistent, professional, and genuinely kind. The staff makes my kids feel comfortable every visit, and everything is always explained clearly so we know what to expect. You can tell they really care about their patients and take pride in their work. I’m so grateful we found them and would highly recommend them to any family looking for an orthodontist they can trust.

I am extremely upset and feel completely misled by this office. We were referred here by our family dentist and have been coming for almost two years. At no point during consultations or prior visits were we clearly told that this office does NOT accept Medicaid. The day they put braces on my daughter, only AFTER the braces were already placed, we were suddenly informed they do not accept Medicaid and were presented with a payment plan totaling nearly $8,000. This should have been disclosed clearly BEFORE any treatment began. It is unacceptable to perform an expensive procedure first and only then inform a parent that insurance is not accepted. After speaking with another parent, I learned she also was not clearly given pricing information upfront. That raises serious concerns about transparency. Parents deserve full disclosure of insurance participation and total cost before treatment starts — especially for something as significant as orthodontic care. I strongly encourage other parents to ask for written confirmation of insurance acceptance and full pricing before agreeing to any procedure.

I usually don’t have a positive experience with orthodontists, but after using this one for over two years, I can highly recommend them. First and foremost, I want to express my gratitude to Dr. Pakravan and his exceptional team. As an adult, I was seeking orthodontic treatment to address my mouth gaps. From scheduling appointments to the process of getting braces on, everything was seamless and hassle-free. Dr. Pakravan and his team took the time to explain my treatment plan in real-life terms, ensuring that I had clear expectations. They also utilized modern technology and provided me with a realistic preview of the final outcome. The front desk team was incredibly friendly and accommodating, making it easy to reschedule appointments or provide any necessary information.
