I’m writing this review after having a completely polar opposite experience at another local pediatric dentist which has confirmed for me the poor care we received at World of Smiles. I brought my children here for several years. When it was time to start bringing my youngest to the dentist, I scheduled appointments together which were supposed to be back to back. They had actually scheduled them at the same time, and wanted my 3 year old to sit in the chair with the hygienist alone, while I was in the separate room with the baby. When he was scared to be alone, they were annoyed and anything but understanding. I ended up saying that we could just do the baby’s appointment and I would bring my toddler back another day and they made it known that they were frustrated with this and the doctor made it seem like I was putting him at risk by not having his teeth cleaned that day. Fast forward to our next appointments, I scheduled them separately so as to not have them try to separate us again. At the time, I was still nursing my 1 yr old to sleep. When they asked the routine questions, I told the hygienist that I know they recommend that we wipe his teeth after nursing but that this was not a realistic practice for my family. (I feel it important to note that he was breastfed, not bottle fed which is an important differentiation for caries in babies). The doctor came in, sat in front of me, and said “I am very concerned” in an extremely condescending tone, and essentially told me I was harming my baby. Give me a break! She then forced his mouth open to examine him, while he was screaming. We now go to Greenburg Pediatric Dentistry and it is night and day different. Just today I took my 12 month old for his first dental appointment. They had me open his gums while holding him so the dentist could look at his teeth. She told me that there’s no concern with breastfeeding him to sleep, advised we practice with a toothbrush as much as we can, low pressure. My other child was sitting in the chair right next to us getting his exam at the same time and they were completely kind and understanding and patient. I told them how much I appreciated the experience and shared that previously another dentist had forced my other child’s mouth open as a baby and they said that they never do that and were shocked! I’m writing this review now because, after experiencing such exemplary dental care for my kids elsewhere, I’ve realized how terrible our previous experiences were. Thankfully my oldest kids now have positive experiences with the dentist and are not afraid to go.
Our daughters have gone here for years, and they've been so cared for. The staff are so capable, compassionate, and we couldn't be more grateful. Plus the turtle and world maps in the waiting room are awesome.
Dr Larsen and the entire staff took great care of my kiddos. I was very impressed with my first visit. Also, the admin staff are incredible. They helped me jump through some challenging insurance hoops. My kids are happy with their new dentist.
Been going here for 3 years for my daughter and they have done amazing work! Now my toddler is going there too! Amazing staff.
We have been with world of smiles since my daughter was 3, she is now turning 7. She is always so excited to go to the dentist. The staff is always friendly and helpful. The dental assistants are always super charismatic and friendly with my daughter. The dentist has always been very warm and friendly.
We have been so happy with this dental office, we make the drive from Astoria just for the special care for pediatric patients since there isn't any local to us, we have been happy with every visit and my concerns as a parent are always listened to! My kids are never scared with your awesome team! Thankyou.
My daughter LOVES coming to World of smiles. I was recommended by a family member and we absolutely don’t regret bringing our daughter here. The staff is always super friendly and the environment is so amazing for kids! Super easy to communicate via email and great flexibility/accommodating. Would 10/10 recommend 💛
