About Zuch Periodontics & Dental Implants

Zuch Periodontics & Dental Implants is a dental practice on East Bell Road in the Paradise Valley Village area of Scottsdale, Arizona. A dental implant replaces a missing tooth at the root, not just the crown — a small titanium post is placed in the jaw bone and, once it has integrated over a period of months, a replacement tooth is attached to it. It is generally the most durable option for a single missing tooth or several.

Gum disease treatment ranges from a deeper professional cleaning for early inflammation through to more involved periodontal care once bone around the teeth has started to be affected. Bleeding gums are usually the earliest sign, and the early stage is reversible with proper cleaning and better daily plaque control.

Periodontics is the specialty focused on the gums and the bone supporting the teeth, handling more advanced gum disease, related surgical treatment, and — in many practices — dental implant placement, which sits naturally alongside that training.

Beyond any single treatment, most dental visits start with an examination — checking for decay, reviewing the gums, and looking at existing fillings or crowns — often alongside X-rays where there is a reason to look between or beneath teeth. That groundwork is what a dentist uses to explain any findings and set out next steps before you leave.

Routine attendance, roughly every six months for most people, is what actually keeps small problems small. A lot of decay and gum disease develops without any pain in its early stages, which is why regular checkups matter even when nothing seems to be wrong, rather than only booking an appointment once something hurts.

A first appointment at a new practice typically covers a full examination, a review of your dental and medical history, and a professional cleaning, with X-rays if you do not have recent ones. It is also a reasonable time to raise any longer-term concerns, cosmetic or otherwise, so they can be factored into a plan going forward. Can gum disease make you lose teeth?
Yes — advanced gum disease is a leading cause of tooth loss in adults. It destroys the bone and fibres holding teeth in place, which is why teeth eventually loosen, and it usually progresses without pain.
Why do my gums bleed even though I brush twice a day?
Bleeding usually reflects where you are cleaning rather than how often. Plaque left along the gumline and between teeth causes inflammation there, which is exactly the area brushing alone tends to miss, so flossing or interdental brushes matter.
When should I see a periodontist instead of a general dentist?
Usually on referral, when gum disease has advanced beyond what routine treatment is resolving — deep pockets, ongoing bone loss, or gum recession needing surgical management.

I initially had a toothache and I was sent to Dr. Zuch for periodontal pain. Let me start with what a cold, unfeeling, and creepy guy Dr Zuch is. I was sent there, or I thought for pain in my upper left side of my mouth. He began looking at all my teeth. He told me I was going to loose some teeth. And that number 13 was to far gone to help it. Number 13 was where most of my pain was. He said the pain was from bone loss and that there was absolutely no infection in that tooth or surrounding. I specifically ask him about an infection knowing an infection can spread to other healthy teeth. He told me to keep the tooth as long as possible. I wound up having gum surgery with Dr. Zuch and that was a nightmare. 8k down the drain. The pain sky rocketed to a 10 after the surgery and kept getting worse. I went to Dr. Zuch explaining the pain and he said again there was no active infection and to see a doctor for a root canal. I didn’t want to get a root canal on a tooth that was getting ready to fall out. So I went for a 2nd and 3rd opinion. Both said there was an active infection and it spread to the 4 teeth around it. So now I went from one tooth hurting to 4 teeth in dire need of attention. In addition I had severe side effects from the gum surgery. One being burning mouth syndrome. Which dr Zuch told me after the fact that it could be a side effect of the gum surgery. This practice should be shut down.

Staff is kind and welcoming. Dr. Zuch and nurses are professional and efficient. This is the very first, of many, root scalings I’ve had that I did not have active pain during the procedure. Thank you!

If there was a way to give 10 stars I would!!! I highly recommend Zuch Periodontics, I have an absolute phobia of the dentist and when I was told that I had to have gum grafts done on three teeth I was terrified. Not only did Dr Zuch and his staff put me at ease, but the actual procedure and recovery was so much better than I expected. Leah who works the front desk is an extra special addition to the staff. I felt very comfortable calling with any questions I had after the procedure and she took the time to talk to me and explain whatever I needed. I know I need more gum grafts in the future and will only allow Dr Zuch to be the one to do it. Thank you Dr Zuch, Leah and the incredible staff.

He took the time to thoroughly explain my condition and the treatment options available, ensuring I felt informed and comfortable with the process. I felt confident I was in the best hands.

I took my teenage daughter for some dental work and my daughter was given all information about what was being done and was given very detailed after care instructions. Dr.Zuch is incredibly knowledgeable as well as assistant. Assistant was very pleasant and helpful. Highly recommend Dr.Zuch and staff for all your periodontal needs.
