About HealthPlex Dental
Healthplex is not an insurance policy you buy directly; it is a dental benefits administrator and managed dental care company, based in Uniondale, New York, that builds and runs dental programmes for labour unions, municipalities, school districts, employers and other payers. It was founded in 1977 by two dentists and is one of the largest dental administrators in New York State. The underlying coverage on many of its programmes is underwritten by affiliated companies, including Dentcare Delivery Systems, Inc. in New York and International Healthcare Services, Inc. in New Jersey. It was acquired by affiliates of MCNA Dental in 2019 and now sits within the UnitedHealth Group organisation, and some of its books of business have been transitioned to UnitedHealthcare dental administration.
