MCNA Dental is not a plan an individual buys; it is a dental benefits manager that US state agencies contract with to run their Medicaid and CHIP dental benefits, and members are enrolled through their state programme. It has operated for over 30 years and currently manages dental benefits in Florida (Florida Healthy Kids), Idaho (Idaho Smiles), Louisiana (Medicaid and CHIP, including adult denture and waiver programmes) and Texas (Medicaid and CHIP). It contracts with dentists, processes claims and handles member services on the state's behalf. MCNA was acquired by UnitedHealth Group in 2020 and continues to operate under its own name.
