About Advanced Oral Surgery of Brooklyn

Advanced Oral Surgery of Brooklyn is a dental practice on Church Avenue in the Flatbush area of Brooklyn, New York. The practice focuses on oral surgery — surgical treatment of the teeth, mouth, and surrounding tissue that goes beyond routine general dentistry.

Oral surgery covers a range of procedures that a general dentist may refer out to a surgical practice. The most common is tooth extraction, including surgical extractions and the removal of impacted or wisdom teeth that cannot be removed by simpler means. Oral surgery also addresses problems involving the bone and soft tissue that support the teeth, and procedures such as bone grafting are sometimes recommended to prepare a site for future treatment.

Treatment of this kind is often coordinated with a patient’s general dentist, who may refer a patient for a specific surgical procedure and then resume routine dental care afterward. Patients are encouraged to discuss the recommended procedure, the reasons for it, and the expected cost directly with the practice before treatment, and to confirm in advance how the procedure relates to their insurance coverage.

Because oral surgery procedures vary widely in complexity, an initial consultation and examination is the standard starting point, allowing the practice to assess the specific situation and explain the options.

After a surgical procedure, clear aftercare instructions matter as much as the treatment itself, and patients are encouraged to ask the practice exactly what recovery involves and whom to contact with any follow-up questions.

The Church Avenue location is in the Flatbush area of Brooklyn and is served by nearby subway and bus routes. The office accepts credit cards, debit cards, and contactless payment.

This place is so unprofessional. I went for the tooth extraction of an over crowded tooth . The tooth is basically behind another tooth . He said I need a bone graft even though I’m not getting an implant . He sent it to my insurance they denied it. So I called the front desk asking if they can just pull the tooth the receptionist kept saying I’ll call you back. I made four calls and no one ever got back to me. They are money hungry and unprofessional. I knew they were unethical and cheats when I saw the receptionist ask patients to pay for fees that they never knew about and basically disrespected patients over them asking for further information on the fees. Run do not go here the good reviews are BOTS!

BEWARE! I had a tooth extraction done in November and I had a terrible experience here. The doctor was chaotic and dismissive plus the facility was filthy. The dark skin nurse with the bad energy should be fired because the surgeon told her not to mess with my ligaments DURING THE SURGERY! I repeat DURING the surgery I woke up and heard him say that! They just take your money and don’t really care about the work. I don’t care how chaotic I am, I am paying for quality services! If you can go elsewhere then do it.

Dirty, dingy and unprofessional. The doctor has such a nice profile picture but is the complete opposite in person. I went there once and never been back since.

My son had his wisdom teeth removed. He was scared beforehand, but the doctor's calm and trustworthy explanation put him at ease. The entire staff was friendly, and we felt safe throughout the process.

First off stating the obvious, the appearance is a bit dinky. The neighborhood as well as appearance of the entrance, waiting room, and 1 operating room I was in was dinky. But I was moved to a better looking one. Make sure you ask for a room with a window, you’ll feel better seeing some sunlight. Aside from that, everyone was very courteous during my procedure and overall visit. Susan at the front desk was very pleasant, Marie who does your X-rays was also friendly, and Toya the assistant who is in the room during the procedure. All very courteous which made my visit more pleasant, because I was on the fence after arriving. Never having any oral problems until needing my wisdom teeth pulled, I was terrified of having any form of surgery. But Dr. Datson explained the procedure to me. And I was sedated with an IV in my hand, and also numbing injections in my mouth. All the videos I’ve seen of wisdom teeth removals were of people receiving laughing gas and going to sleep. Which is what I expected, so I was sad about that. But I barely felt anything except the pressure of the tooth being pulled. Nonetheless, it was a terrifying experience for me personally being how scared I was. I believe the surgery was done within 30 mins, and I felt better around day 4 following the procedure. Just follow the after care instructions and you’ll be good. Also, even though you have insurance, you will need to pay for your X-rays out of pocket, it costs $150. You will need to pay before the X-rays are done, so plan your visit accordingly. Note; they also have a Manhattan location, which I definitely prefer.

My experience has been very comforting and service were done quickly. Marie took the time check in on me and made me feel at home. Plus the doctor was comforting and knowledgeable. I would say all of the team from today were amazing and I can see they run a very efficient business. Thank you everyone
