About Avenue D Family Dental

Avenue D Family Dental is a family dental practice on Avenue D in the East Flatbush area of Brooklyn, New York, in the part of the neighborhood known as Little Caribbean. The office provides everyday family dentistry alongside restorative care for adults and children.

As a family practice, Avenue D Family Dental treats patients of every age, covering the routine examinations, cleanings, and preventive care that keep teeth and gums healthy. Seeing children and adults at one office makes it easier for households to coordinate appointments and keep everyone on a regular checkup schedule.

For patients with missing or failing teeth, the practice provides dentures, a removable option that restores the ability to eat and speak and rebuilds the appearance of a complete smile. The office fits both full and partial dentures depending on how many natural teeth remain, and patients are encouraged to ask about the full range of tooth-replacement options so they can choose the approach that best fits their situation.

The practice also places emphasis on affordable dental care. Patients are encouraged to discuss treatment recommendations, the reasons behind them, and the expected costs directly with the office, and to ask questions about any financing or payment plan before agreeing to treatment, so they can make a fully informed decision.

A first visit generally begins with an examination and any necessary X-rays, which give the dentist a clear picture before treatment is recommended.

For families managing several patients’ care at once, an office that treats every age can simplify scheduling, and the practice encourages patients to ask questions about any recommended treatment until they fully understand it.

The Avenue D location is convenient for residents across East Flatbush and the surrounding central Brooklyn neighborhoods, and is served by nearby subway and bus routes. The office accepts credit cards, debit cards, and contactless payment. The Dr. (Caucasian Male) Wonderful Consult. Poor referral options from office staff. Office after initial visit from referral to out of office specialist a train wreck. Didn't send correct referral. I was there Saturday 6/13 for two hours before I was told the wait would be an additional 1+. Two plus hours for an appt at 1pm for a cleaning. In their defense they had a call out. Who's on call though? Horrible experience second appt. Also, my address was incorrect on my paperwork.

I am writing to formally express my extreme dissatisfaction with the service I have received at your office. I have been a patient here for over a year, and the experience has been incredibly frustrating. After completing the lengthy process of being fitted for dentures, I arrived at your office for my final pickup appointment only to be told that you could not locate them. I find it completely unacceptable that a medical office could lose a patient’s completed dentures. To make matters worse, I was informed that I would have to restart the entire process from the beginning. This level of negligence is ridiculous and unprofessional. Based on this experience, I can no longer trust your practice with my dental care, and I certainly would not recommend your services to anyone else.

This was my first visit to this location as a new patient. I had actually referred two family members here based on the positive reviews, which made this experience more disappointing for me because it did not reflect the expectations those reviews created. After imaging was taken, I spoke with a coordinator who discussed treatment recommendations and costs. To my knowledge, I was not examined by a dentist, nor did I receive a clear explanation of findings or whether a dentist reviewed my case. I was informed about an extensive treatment plan that was not covered by my insurance and would require significant out-of-pocket costs, with payment options discussed. I was also referred elsewhere for care. My concern is not the referral or cost itself, but that I left without understanding who evaluated me, what the findings were, or the basis for the recommendations being made. As a patient, I expected more direct communication regarding my care before discussing expensive treatment options. I referred family members here because of the strong reputation and reviews, but my personal experience did not align with those expectations. I encourage patients to ask questions, request records, and confirm who is providing clinical evaluation and treatment recommendations. I am expecting someone from the back office to call me regarding these concerns and I will follow through. What a disappointment.

I advise anyone to get a second opinion with it comes to your health. I went to this place because I have a cracked tooth that got infected. And the Spanish dentist their told me that I needed a bone marrow transplant because they couldn’t just pull out my tooth and left it like that. That the infected was close to my bone. That I needed to pay $4,000 for a bone marrow transplant because my insurance doesn’t cover that type of procedure. So i left and called my insurance to see if they actually cover that type of procedure and they DO !! But they cover it if i went to a hospital because it’s a medical procedure not a dental procedure ! So not only did he try to take money from me but he was trying to do a procedure that required me to be in a hospital not a clinic. People do your homework and don’t settle for what a doctor tells you because they have a degree. Hopes this helps anyone suffering from pain. Ask questions especially if you have insurance.

The front desk people are very pleasant. But the other people in the back especially this particular lady is very rude nasty attitude. I never go back there my cousins also stop because of there attitude.

I had to stop coming here last year because I found the dentist to be so rude, not only to me but all of the staff that were there helping him. The front desk staff were always helpful and professional. I go to a normal dentist now where they treat everyone with respect. Go elsewhere

They have the latest techniques, however they are very quick to draw up loans and do payment plans,. Its a good place but don't like when I go to a dentist and they think you are constrained to do what they say and don't know how your financial status is?? This is the only fault I find with them. I had to take out a loan for over 9,000 dollars in 2022 and still paying for it. Then now they want to take out another loan to do a cosmetic tooth at the front of my mouth which will cost over 2,000 dollars. They and this cosmetic tooth and dentures.😁

Worst dentist I’ve ever been too in my entire life. This was my second visit in a year and I don’t know why I came back when they didn’t help me the first time. After waiting 5 days in pain to get a checkup done because I cannot chew due to teeth pain and wanted to also get my teeth cleaned. after they told me how bad my gums were and that my teeth need to be pulled out , (they wanted to pull my teeth out with no talks of implants veneers dentures or what should happen next I would just be chewing on gums like an idiot she literally said no tooth would replace it ) they couldn’t even prescribe me a pain killer for the pain nor clean my teeth. I’m like so y’all can’t do nothing ? Just gave me a list of numbers that don’t take my insurance. And said I need to see a periodontist. So now in pain still, I have to find someone else either some competence that will help. NY Medicaid is trash my friend in a Jersey got a whole set of teeth meanwhile I can’t even get a pain killer and antibiotics till I find someone else. Terrible people. They were that bad the first time around as well. Would not do my deep cleaning told me it was not covered hence why I’m in this situation now I really should have went elsewhere where from then DO NOT GO HERE
